I'm back....seems like everyone wanted a little piece of my time I guess with the snow storm that just missed us - everyone was trying to get work done and things out of the way in case it hit. Had it hit - we'd been shut down for the rest of the week. I missed everyone. I must say I hope I get enough on my tax return back to get my laptop. I found one for about 600.00 and it's just want I want....just don't have all the funds yet to pay for it...and don't want to put it on my credit card. That is for emergencies only. Going to go check out some more topics. And try to catch up. Later,

Hello Hello from the new home of ice and snow- Ohio!! HAHAHAHA!!

How are you ladies all doing? Just have one question for you, where's all that Global Warming ya'll keep telling me about?? (Being asked tounge-in-cheek- don't freak out and get all defensive)

We have had lots of bad weather up here lately, and it's varied from sub-zero temps, to ice storms, to 17inches of snow (I think that's about 42.5 centimeters if my math is correct), back to sub zero temps, to more ice, blah, blah, blah. Today is a moderate day with temps above freezing and I'm able to take a brake from putting wood in the woodstove to catch up on some emails and get back on the board. It's not easy to get away from a 3 y/o when we are couped-up in the house due to weather.

Send me some sun Evanstar- I need it!!

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    evenstar - 27.02.2007, 02:40

I would love to do that Mouse, but unfortunately our weather is all over the place right now! It's warm and humid outside, but dark and overcast at the same time. The sun doesn't want to come out today!

Anne, wasn't there a heat wave in most of Europe last summer? I know there certainly was in London - I was there at the time!

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    newnativspirit - 27.02.2007, 10:51

Evenstar, you are right - it was way to hot for a few days/weeks.

And I wish we would have had at least a bit of snow back here in February ... now itīs almost March and the first flowers are already there and Iīm getting ready for spring time!!!! LOL

I'm on a waiting list for a computer loan here at work :( wish they had lay-a-ways somewhere but they don't....or 90 days same as cash...I really need a computer for home.

As the summer goes I'll be able to be on line more because a lot of the professors will be gone (they all don't teach during the summer) and when my boss is gone - I can stay on here as much as I like - provided I get my work done.

Nearly everyday is like that for me! *lol*

Idril, don't feel bad for not being able to spell. We all have mental blocks sometimes. One thing I've noticed about you guys here is that your written English is better than a lot of Australians I know, and they've been speaking English their whole lives! I tell you, I've seen so many high school students over here lately who can't even write a coherent sentence! A lot of them are on the myspace forums, and I can't even work out what they are talking about half the time! How are they getting past the teachers when they can't even write properly???

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    newnativspirit - 19.05.2007, 12:48

Iīve been told before that my written English is very good by "my" professor who is from Louisiana ... he used to help me alot with my business letters when I started my business two years ago. But I donīt feel like my English is good.

One thing I noticed last time I visited my friend who has a 13 y/o son is, that even the German kids donīt know about their language no more ... he was chatting with some friends on ICQ and they were writing the worst German ever !!! lol Let me see, if I can come up with an example:

"Aba wie kumm ich dann hemm" (but how do I get home ...) should be "Aber wie komme ich dann heim". Itīs a mix of dialect and words they do write the way they do speak ... the problem is, they get used to it that much, that they also do spell that way at school ! Plus I got told that a lot of those kids do have dyslexia without knowing it. Remember, that my daughter has this problem as well. But instead of helping their kids, most parents just ignore the signs and itīs a lot more easy to say that chatrooms are causing this problems ... :?. My daughter will get help from a young teacher, who just got a baby and stays at home right now. They will excercise together and so sheīll get at least a chance to be able to spell words correctly one day. Otherwise sheīll get problems learning a foreign language later on and I want her to speak English asap. (so she can come with me to the States one day  )

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 19.05.2007, 18:22

yep. the "German" that people of my age and younger speak today is...well.... :?

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    evenstar - 21.05.2007, 03:37

Anne, your written English is almost perfect!!

Yes, and they say that it's best to teach the kids foreign languages when they are very young. My Croatian friend learnt English from watching English speaking cartoons when he was a child!

I know what you mean. I have noticed that my written English has suffered greatly since the advent of the chat room, but mostly from text messaging! You tend to use slang, or whatever allows you to shorten the message down to it's most simple format (as long as the basic message gets across). I remember back when I got top of my grade in high school English. I can't even remember how to use correct punctuation and grammar now.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    evenstar - 21.05.2007, 03:39

Idril wrote: yep. the "German" that people of my age and younger speak today is...well.... :?

I noticed that all of the people around my age (early 20's) that I met in Germany last year spoke flawless English! Many of them didn't even really have accents, like they had been speaking it their whole lives. I suppose that explains why their German has suffered. Do they drill it into you guys from a young age that you MUST speak English or something?

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    newnativspirit - 21.05.2007, 09:18

no, I think thatīs one good thing about computers! You need to speak English to "understand" your computer - lol - and of course, in most chatrooms people from all over the world meet up and English is the main language. We do have English at school, but thatīs mostly BE and itīs just the bases. We do have a lot of Americans in Germany and of course, Music is another cause ... the modern German language is mostly mixed up with a lot of English terms and young people usually catch up a lot of words on the Internet ... does this make sense to you?

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    evenstar - 21.05.2007, 09:51

Do you think that the reason people speak such good English in Germany is due to English being a Germanic language (at least I've heard that it's based on German, and some other languages). I know that some of the words are the same from listening to my boss speak German at least.

It makes perfect sense. I was just thinking of a story I heard from a woman from New Zealand when I was over there. She was telling me how she had complimented a young woman on her fantastic English and her response was, "Well, I didn't exactly have a choice of whether or not to learn English"! I was wondering if that was the general attitude of people over there, as I didn't know that anybody was forced to learn (even though travelling overseas would be very difficult if you don't speak English).

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    newnativspirit - 21.05.2007, 18:28

We have to choose between English, French and Latin ... at most schools English is the first foreign language to learn and then a few years later you have to choose your second foreign language. I took French, but never liked it. Although itīs another language out of the Roman languages (like English and German are), I never really learned French. My brain refused to learn it somehow ... lol

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    enelya06 - 21.05.2007, 18:32

I had spanish and Keri has had german and spanish. Here you are required to take another language in order to graduate from high school.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    evenstar - 22.05.2007, 05:49

I wish they did that at schools over here. We were only required to take a second language class in our first year of high school, and then it was only very basic stuff. We had a choice between Japanese and Italian, and I chose Japanese because it seemed interesting. Anyway, I regretted it because I found the language so hard to learn. The written symbols are very complex too.

I have been wanting to learn Italian or Spanish for years. Maybe I will finally take some classes now! My company gave German classes after work for a while years ago, but it didn't last long cos people just wanted to get home *lol*

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    enelya06 - 22.05.2007, 13:30

Keri's 1st grade teacher was German and then she started learning spanish in 3rd grade. German was 1 and 2nd. She only has a few days of school left as she is exempt from taking finals. Her grades were so high that she doesn't have to take a few final exams for high school to technically she has only 2 days of school left. Hard to believe she's almost finished. She'll start U of L in Fall 08 - doesn't seem possible.

I could never learn Japanese, Chinese isn't too bad I had to take Spanish in High school but don't remember a lot of it.

cool - then you can talk to Mellie. She speaks Spanish and Italian fluently. She used to live in Spain and Italien when she was a teenager.

Sweet *lol* Actually, the friend who is going with me has Italian parents, and spoke it when she was little (which was more or less forgotten once she started attending school and had to speak English). I am sure it will come more easily to her than to me *lol*

trouble and worries only come to people who can stand it ... (doesnīt mean that you need more of it, but you have a strong family!)

Just look at me! It seems like trouble and I are best friends. Of course, it makes me sad and mad when something is happening to me again, but all the trouble and sorrows I had in the past years made me the person I am today ! Hey, I never give up !!! It may push me back for a while, but I come out of it even stronger than before and thatīs actually the only good thing about bad things happening to me.

Hope your brother is doing better and Iīm sure he doesnīt worry about his finger as much as he does worry about his motorbike :)

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    enelya06 - 19.06.2007, 17:06

I hope your brother is doing better too. Broken fingers are rough to deal with - I've broken 2 in the past.

I am sooooo pisssed. Yesterday in some local magazine I read that the
gouverment here in Sweden want to send some refugees back home to north Iraq.
Those people have lived here in Sweden for 4-6 years. They have works, friends and some of the have got family. Now they have to leave everything and go back to a country with war. :x :x

    Wow Mela ,that is terrible
it used to be the same in Holland ,but with the help of a lot of ppl we changed that rule :D
now when someone lives ( even in an assilam) for 3 to 5 years ,they will have to go to school to learn dutch History & language & they will get a passport
    which is much betetr

I went to high school with a boy whose family had to go back to Pakistan, after living here nearly his entire life, all due to some bureaucratic error.

In a interwiev today a young man said that he is allowed to stay and almost his whole family. But not his younger sister. She has to go back to Iraq. They split familys. :x :x :(
Another man has a gf and a little daughter but he has to go back. :x :x
I am sorry for being so pissed.

    Mela - 21.06.2007, 22:25

I wish there was a way for me to help those people.I am thinking about writing a letter to the gouverment myself. Just beacuse you are from middle-east does not mean that you belong to Usama Bin Landin.
Those refugees do not deserve to be treated like animals.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    newnativspirit - 22.06.2007, 10:41

I donīt think that is the main reason (terrorism) - itīs more complex. To write a letter is a good idea (at least you try to do something), but to be honest, it wonīt make a change ...

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Mela - 22.06.2007, 16:46

I know it wonīt make a change if I write a letter. :( But at least i have tried to do something. They have lived in Sweden for a few years and now they will be kicked out. I do not think that is fair....

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    I'm 0+.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

awww I wished I was 0+ because everyone can accept blood with 0.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

Um I thought that if you needed blood you had to use whatever type you were - say I'm 0+ and if I needed blood I'd have to be given 0+.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 26.06.2007, 17:26

That's true. If 0 needs blods it has to be 0. But every other blood groups can stand 0. At least that's what they told me in school

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    enelya06 - 26.06.2007, 17:29

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 26.06.2007, 17:30

yep. That's why I wanted to have 0. But B+ isn't that bad. Only 9% of the people have B+.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    enelya06 - 26.06.2007, 17:33

I think my blood type is A- Idril is right, I think most other blood groups can take O in a tranfusion. My Dad is the rarest type there is (I think it's AB or something).

    Re: Where did everybody go?

AB negative is rare and the one that is very is RH. I've known in the past that if a mother has RH negative their babies have to have a transfusion of RH positive.

I'm glad I'm a standard type to where if I gave blood more could use it.

Canīt tell you mine either ...

Did you ask the Red Cross to help you with a petition? I donīt think that they will even read your letter - I mean a secretary may have to, but I donīt think it will come to the next desk then ... a petition would be great, cause by that people from all over the world could help to make a change - not only in Sweden.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 27.06.2007, 16:49

I can't wait for the next time to go and spend blood. It's pretty funny

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    newnativspirit - 27.06.2007, 17:33

I donīt think they will let me do it at all - lol - you have to have at least 50 kilos and that could be the problem ... Mellie was send back home last time she wanted to give blood - lol - she was so disappointed.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 27.06.2007, 18:58

there are strict rules for spending blood, but it's the only way to be sure to get good blood from healthy people. People who usually get sick even by seeing blood or giving only a little bit aren't allowed to spend either.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    mouseears89 - 27.06.2007, 19:03

My blood is the universal donor type- everyone can take it. So, if you all ever need any, just let me know!!

BTW- I'm O-, and yes O+ can take the blood, but only O- can take O-. We cannot accept anyone elses blood.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 27.06.2007, 19:04

ok, I will ask you if I ever need blood

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    enelya06 - 27.06.2007, 19:20

over here you have to be 17 in order to give blood and if you give blood you have to wait like 2 months before giving again. I'm border line animic (have low blood pressure and sugar) and my doctor said only in an emergency should I give blood.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 27.06.2007, 20:42

Here you have to be 18 and you have to wait at least 8 weeks untill you can spend again and you shouldn't spend more than 3-4 times a year.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    enelya06 - 27.06.2007, 20:54

I think the reason they want you to wait is because of getting too weak.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 27.06.2007, 20:59

It is. The only thing I was a bit shocked about was, that it takes about 24 hours untill the blood you spend is fully "reproduced" in your body. I thought it would take only a few hours :?

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    enelya06 - 27.06.2007, 21:01

I know - they gave you juice and cookies and make you lay still for about 30 minutes before letting you off the table.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 27.06.2007, 21:03

I had some water and I only had to lay down ten minutes before I could stand up and get myself something to eat and some more to drink

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    enelya06 - 27.06.2007, 21:25

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 27.06.2007, 21:26

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    enelya06 - 27.06.2007, 21:31

I'm in the same boat at you, I cannot give blood because I am anemic, although I would love to do it. The last time my iron count was taken it was only 2 (the acceptable level is 20 I think). My doctor wanted to know how I get out of bed in the mornings *lol*

Well we came into work yesterday and guess what - the A/C is off - today it is even worse. I'm wearing shorts in tomorrow - teri-cloth ones. They can't seem to get the a/c to work right if we're freezing others are burning up. This is not good for sinsus problems and I'm doing my best not to get sick.

Here we had heavy winds last nights. Every villiage and city around us had heavy storms, we only had wind. It wasn't very comfy :? But compared to the floods in England and the fires in southeurope, I still prefer the winds and the rain. :?

You are brave! I don't actually drink coffee - my caffine comes from Coke (just as bad, if not worse) - it's hard to give it up. I managed to give it up for 2 months...but the first 2 weeks were hell...and the headaches, so not fun.

    Good luck!

I'm doing a lot better with this diet. I have Kelloggs Flakes with fruit in the morning or oatmeal with skim milk. I also have a cup of coffee. For snakes I get a protein bar (Kelloggs brand) and for lunch a salad or yogert. Here lately when I get home I've been eating fruit like it's going out of style. Mom stops at the produce market (they sell fresh garden items) and she brought some canalope home well I ate 1/2 of one last night when I got up. Too I drink lots of water but have let myself have maybe 1 or 2 soda's a day.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

Iīm not really on a diet, but I watch what Iīm eating. I need to do some more sports, but Iīm soooooooooooooooooo lazy - itīs terrible, thatīs not me!!!! This time itīs hard to get back in shape. I did almost an hour of my aerobics tonight - almost! First thing in the morning will be some more sports ... I need to get back in shape !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me too, I drink lots of water - very seldom some carbonated water mixed with apple juice ... I try to stay with water only !

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    enelya06 - 30.08.2007, 21:01

I have that new carb powder - Meijer makes it - it comes in packets that you put in an 8 oz bottle of water - it helps keep you hydrated when you are working out. The only think about water is - drinking large quantities of it - makes me run to the bathroom.

I sure hope there is some cantalope left when I get home. Keri likes it too.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    evenstar - 31.08.2007, 05:43

I gave up Coke years ago because it is so bad for you (and on the rare occasion that I drink it now it makes me feel ill). I pretty much only drink water now, except for one or two cups of tea per day, and a very occasional glass of wine.

I know what you mean about the laziness thing. I've been so slack with diet and exercise, and I really want to lose a bit of weight before my holiday. I'm actually only working a half day today, so I'm going to try and get to the gym this afternoon.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    enelya06 - 31.08.2007, 06:05

My diet is getting better - I'm getting use to it and the arobics will start when I get my new DVDs. My old ones are on VHS. I need tonning more than anything.

Linda was teasing me today saying what I need to get some weight off is some good sex.....she was just joking but I've read where sex can burn calories.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

I watch it as much as I can - all I can say is Thanks Clint for telling everyone about it. you can probably find it on line. Clint had a video on his space.

I hate to hear your computer went to sleep again. There was a loud boom and then everything went down. the explosion was just around the corner. Everyone up and down the street came out of their homes. It was scary course we figured a transformer blew. Where I live we're underground (transformer, phone lines etc). It was freaky to hear the fire dept and then see them turn down our street...then turn the corner. But I'm glad the power is back on.

I thought that maybe someone had hit a tree or light post but when the power went off - I sort of figured it could be a transformer - I'm just gald everything came back on.

Hey I got the photos scanned of the awars things. Will send one.

    yes please !!!

Sorry, I wasnīt online this morning, but we were at school to give the flyers for the KiKuTa to the kids ... then had a coffee with a friend of mine and picked up Emma. Needed to go to the grocery as well and when I was ready to go home it was already about time to pick up Milena from school ... then talked to my neighbour about Milena starting with backhorse riding again and when I finally got home it was already after 1 pm my time ... and now Iīm waiting for Milena to come back from her private lessons so we can go to the ice cream parlor as my mom promised the girls to go there today ... uhm ... letīs see, maybe I can come online again before I will have to leave for my aerobic class tonight.

Iīll go back to work next week Tuesday ... donīt want to, but have to! :(
We wonīt be able to chat in the morning anymore, Nancy ! :( Iīll work from 10 am to 2 pm my time then ... from Tue to Fri ...

Yep, I nearly have every christmas present. I always try to get all presents as soon as possible to avoid the Chrsitmas bustle.

Hope you have a great 2nd advent, ladies!

    Re: Where did everybody go?

School's still very stressful. I have to write one test after another (sometimes for six hours...). I hardly can sleep because I can't calm down and I start having nightmares about lice and creatures that chase me and try to eat me. Well, holidays start on Dec 22nd. Everything will be better then... hopefully.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Liadan - 10.12.2007, 20:29

hey there. Don't worry about us, we get along. your exams are more important. Did you think about drinking tea before ou go to sleep? that may calm you down...

    Re: Where did everybody go?

just checking in. i had a grewling weekend and I work tonight then am off till Friday night. I work Friday - Monday next week at JCP. I'm worn out and don't have much time yet. Have had to type up new specs for a few new pieces of equipment...so that has kept me busy for the most of the day.

I've been trying to get in the holiday spirit but think I'm too tired to do so.

    Wanted to say hello.

I start to imagine things. I imagine whole stories until I fall asleep. Sometimes the stories take more time, sometimes they are very short. I always start to create little stories, when I sit somewhere and I have nothing to do. :?

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    i do the same thing
even at work ,during my break
thankfully it's now less (at least at work) than it was when i was still at highschool
i used to be 'daydreaming' every day ,during Almost every class.
i'd even fall asleep sometimes ,cause i would get tired from all the stories i made. thankfully i had a photographic memory ,so i still had good grades
or else i wouldn't have gotten away with it (mom & dad would have 'killed' me if my grades would go down :P )

    i hardly write them down.
somehow i always remember my stories. even after several years have past. at the moment i am writing stories ,which makes me sleep less ,cause before i sleep i'll be thinking of new adds & several outlines or endings. am writing 4 stories right now. all fan-fics for a forum. just for fun
when i'm finished with them (or at least 2 or 3 of them) i'm going to start trying to make a 'normal' fiction story

PS: Idril when (yes you read it right: When) your stories are going to be published ,make sure they will also be translated to English so i can read it easier  :D

uhooh ,and you don't want anybody to find the notes. (JK)

ooh my that rememinds me of something that happend to a Dutch "celebrity" (if you can call them that). she & her husband had made some juicy pictures on a vacation from a couple of years ago
wel her PC got hacked and now a couple of weeks ago her pics were 'found'
only Yikes part was that they were found on a website.!

no one would want that or something similair to happen to them
liek for instance ,your diary ,stoies for personal purpose made or chats being posted on a website ,for everyone to see.

the court couldn't convict the hacker for what he did ,cause in our 'contritution' there wasn't anyhting to be found on "stealing a Digital picture" ,which is Ridiculous ,it shouldn't matter if it's a picture made form paper or from digits :x

thankfully they changed the rules today. so anyone who wants to do these things can't get away with it anymore
the next time someone will go to prison for it :D

Hey guys - it's been a while and probably will continue to be so till after Christmas....

We had our first wintery weather over the weekend - some freezin rain, sleet and fluries - it didn't stick around but boy the cold did and we had wind gusts up to 40 mph on Sunday. I've been working round the clock at both places and then having stuff to do at home....but I think about you all.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Liadan - 19.12.2007, 17:16

    Re: Where did everybody go?

they are talking about more rain :x and maybe a flurie or two. The last white Christmas we had was in 2004. It's very pleasent outside today - in the high 40's and no wind.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 20.12.2007, 21:41

    awww I want white christmas!!!!

Last night I dreamt my family wanted to make me a surprise with a snow canon, but the snow canon didn't produce any snow. Only that kind of stuff you have when you mis water and soap (you know what I mean? I'm too tired to search for the right word in a dictonary)

Stargate Atlantis is very good. The first seson was a bit odd but from the 2nd season they grew a lot. Can't live without it^^. Watch it when you get the chance. I also love their enemy #1 the Wraith. in my opinion they are the best enemies ever in SG

None here either except they are calling for rain :x i'm so sick of it. We go months on end without then all of a sudden wham - I'm beginning to feel like a duck. The back yard is mushy and I've an old towel down at the door for the dogs to wipe their feet on. It wasn't rainy today but cold - rain for tomorrow.

I'm sort of "chilling" and watching LOTR's while cleaning - I have a bunch of stuff that needs to go somewhere and I don't what to throw good stuff out. Maybe Cedar Lake Lodge will call and come by and pick some stuff up. I've already got 6 boxes out in the shed gone and I do believe I could give everyone I know a mug :?

I've shredded so much stuff I may change my name to "Shredder". At least the garbage men came today and picked up all our garbage - which is good...because i've got plenty more where that came from.

Need to read a few more e-mails and get back at it.

Hi ladies, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and that Santa left everything you wanted under your Christmas tree.

It was really hot down here - 38 degrees Celsius on Christmas Day and 44.2 degrees (or 111 Fahrenheit) on Boxing Day. It was our hottest December day on record. I nearly collapsed when I went outside!

The one inch snow and minus 1 degrees below zero - I did get some photos but they'll be posted when I get a little extra money. I'm running on barely nothing right now.

Glad to be off till Monday though I have to work JCP tonight for 4 hours - not bad because it's all back to normal. There were dozen of returns in fact this year was worse than last year. I had like maybe 900.00 worth of returns on me since christmas and that's mild compared to a few.

    Come on over Idril -

    Re: Where did everybody go?

School started here and aaah I have so much to do and not time to go online at all  Only 48 schooldays left and all the teachers suddenly start to panic ("we haven't done that yet" "we must do that and that" "we forgot that" etc) and we have to do more homeworks than ever before.
I tried to print my book for artsubject and guess what happend: The printer broke and I had only printed half of the book so far! So I asked a friend if I could print my book with her printer and she said yes, but only late at wednesday evening, because she had no time earlier. Damn, it was so much stress. And actually I should show a finished book to my teacher on friday, but I couldn't. He told me to finish it until wednesday. My mum helps me a lot. Otherwise I would never make it until wednesday. :x
I fear I wont be much online until next weekend. Damn, I hate it not to come online, but I don't have another choice.
Btw. I have Judo for the rest of my school life as my sport subject. My first training was on wednesday. There were sic girls with me and about ten guys. We girls acted pretty civilized, while the boys suddenly start to beat each other up. Three of them started to bleed. It was... well.... a red lesson. I don't look forward to the next, although I always enjoyed Judo before.... Another funny thing is that one of the girls has a higher belt than our teacher. So she has to do all the greeting stuff.
The rest of the week was ok. School keeps on to depress me, because somehow I'm not getting better but worse in every subject.
Well, I'll keep you updated about the rest of my school life.

I'm here just been in a slump so to speak. Keri and I have to clean her car out today and it's going to have to go in the shop. We were told at JCP that if we couldn 't pull it together in sales for Valentines that hours would be cut way back - which is fine with me. I want my life back and it's tight right now with money - having to pay some big bills but i'll be out of debt by the end of the year. Too we'll find out in april just what they are going to have to do with the budget at work and we'll see how many of us still have jobs. Darn goverment. too my sinsus are acting up so bad now. I need some TLC or to run away for a bit. i had thought to drive out to the cemetary this afternoon - and may just do that. It's peaceful and besides I've got to place some flowers on Gary's grave. Long story for another time.

Well I survived the storm along with my building. Some areas of my city and the campus look like a war zone. We had several building loose their roofs, windows, the wind was so fierce it blew cars into each over and over turned a semi. I didn't loose any trees but some had them go through their houses or down in their back yards. The university took a good hit. Still real cold out.

do you know the show "extreme makeover: home edition"? I `m watchin it at the moment. this time it is family Piestowa (don`t know how to spell it) and they are Navajo. They are building a house for the family of a female soldier, who had died in Iraq, and a veteranian home in a reservation. What do you think about it? I cried too because it was so beautiful. Well in my opinion they went over the top a bit but the social cohesion was so overwhelming. The family belongs to the Hopi. They were given a horse by another chief - the highest honor a warrior could get. And they named a peak Piestewa. The sadest moment was when the veterans did some kind of military parade and led a horse with no rider as a symbol for every warrior that would not return.

    I watched DMAX.

This is a video about Lori Piestewa. But there are a lot more about her on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWlaVk8rE-Y&feature=related

Anne, do you know the Lakota Village Fund? I am watching a show "die letzte Schlacht der Sioux" (the last battle of the Sioux) on Phoenix and they report about the Lakota reservation. And they shown Christina Voormann of Lakota Village Fund who is working to get the old knowledge of plants and food and more back. It's really sad watching the proud people suffering from hunger and diabetis... I`m really mad about how they are treated by gouvernment  This is their webpage: www.lakota-village.de .

I thought it might be interesting maybe cooperating with Christina Voormann for it is a bavarian organisation.

I know the Lakota Village Fund and I know Christina Voormann. She is working together with Charlie White Buffalo who is very ambitious about the plant project. Cooperating is not that easy and in most cases itīs a money thing, because I canīt sponsor any projects. All I could do is put up links on my website ... I myself are looking for sponsors, so cooperation will only be possible by an exchange of links on each others website

Hmm, ok, that's not good. I just thought it would be a great idea because you told us about the other story, where a german organization cheated the indian dancers and this maybe would show that not every german businessman is like that. - but never say never, maybe one day you`ll work together.

    Iīm watching the show ...

    Re: Where did everybody go?

cool, let us know what you think.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    newnativspirit - 03.02.2008, 15:56

What they did was a good thing to do, but I would love to do more little things to a lot of people than one big thing to only one family ... if you know what I mean.

Lori was the first female soldier who died in Iraq - ok - but that is the only reason why the people from the show got interested in a Native American family. The US honors their soldiers - itīs good for the general mood of the people - ok, this is getting political and I donīt want this on the board. But I hope you all get what I mean.

Nobody would have helped the family, if Lori would have gotten killed in a car accident ...

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Liadan - 03.02.2008, 16:21

I know what you mean. but I see the show as a medium what makes the people more observant to their neighbours who need help. I also would like more people to be helped, but the show isn`t able to do that. They chose the families exemplarily.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    newnativspirit - 03.02.2008, 16:36

true - and this is the bad thing about these shows! There are so many people who need help. Me included. And I donīt get any help, because my case is not interesting enough for TV - lol - Iīm just kidding, but there are so many, many people all over the world and shows like this will never make a change of how people see their neighbourhood. In return, a lot of people do think " Why did they choose them and not us". We should be able to help other people without a TV show telling us to do so. And it always looks like those people are spending a lot of money on poor people, but itīs all just a business thing. A lot of people make lots of money with such shows - do you seriously think that any of those show people do really think about the families they helped for a long time? Just take a look at our shows. Do you think that Verona Poth is staying in touch with any of the families she "helped" - itīs a job for her and she is making money with the bad luck of other people. Iīm sure during the time they are doing the job they may seriously be touched, but the next job is already waiting and so I really donīt think that they think of the past jobs again. Would she help, if she would have to use her own money to pay for the new houses and furniture and stuff ? Probably not ... itīs just a show and in my opinion it doesnīt really make sense.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Liadan - 03.02.2008, 16:48

I know that they don`t help everyone. And I know that most people are left alone with their problems. My family also needs help. But it`s nice to see that some families get help. It makes me feel good and believing that there are people out there who care. I know that it is not that way and I know that I totally fall for their line but sometimes I need to "escape" from reality.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    newnativspirit - 03.02.2008, 16:52

yes, but what is after the show? Itīs good to have a new and modern home, but what if you canīt pay your bills anymore? They donīt always solve all your problems.

I wish I could escape from reality once in a while ...

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Liadan - 03.02.2008, 17:11

in most episodes the family gets a check or a fund with a lot of money to pay the bills... but I know what you mean... most of the houses cost a lot of money (electricity etc.)

I wish I could too.. that's why i watch it.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

I always cry when I see this show- so I don't watch it very often.

I think it's a wonderful thing when people volunteer their time and talents to help others. Ty Pennington has said before that he hopes people view the show and want to help others in their own area. Maybe that is how we should see it- paying it forward. :D

    How is everybody doing?

I have my first kids-free weekend for 4 weeks !!! And Iīm here at home all alone

    No, Iīm enjoying it.

I have a job interview tomorrow afternoon. Itīs not a real job, but a gym here in my area (like a 15 min. drive from where I live) offered a job to me. So Iīll go there to check out the gym and to meet my new boss.
Iīll keep you updated on this one.

no they are not. that was very unkind for them to do that to you. I was off of work today because of not feeling well. We have like 4 inches of snow on the gound right now and sleet and freezing rain are moving in so I don't know if i'll go to work tomorrow or not. I didn't wake up till 1 p.m. today. I got up this am took my bath, got ready for work and wham just couldn't cut it. The sleep did me good and I really should be in bed right now.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Peregrin - 13.02.2008, 01:31

I got back to school!!! :D yeeeeeeeeeah :D
I could continue my history studies at my university, yes!!!
It was just about money that I had to get out for a term, and now, got back...
I still could not believe it...
Today I had a military history class, which was wonderful. My eyes were in pain, because I slept little again, but I do not mind.
Now I am awfully tired, I went to the library after the school, I am a crazy mazoist I know.... :P School --> library, everyday I could, wow, the two places I love :)
Met my friends again, had fun, forget about my problems, they help me, I will help them, we will suffer and have fun again in this next term :D yeah.
So, Anne, never give up!!! There is always hope!!! Think about it very very often. Positive thinking. It works!!!
Okay, some of my friends say that you always say be positive and so on and you are quite negative all the time, and yes, they are right, I am not always positive unfortunately, but could smile when everybody could not, when I am awfully tired and that helps.
But I think it is a bit hard to stay positive when your family is against you, against your studies, say go to work, and not learn history, because that is not so important, and they say they would not help you, you have to do it all alone, when you live so far from the university, have to travel a lot, sleep a little.
Maybe I really will be a military historian years later :) I am getting closer to it now. :D
(Anne I wrote you a mail, maybe you did not got it, I will send it again tomorrow)

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    newnativspirit - 13.02.2008, 10:59

In fact, I didnīt get an email ... send it again

But these are great news - Iīm soooooooooooooooooo happy for you !!! Go for it - never give up your dreams!!! Iīm sure it will work out for you !

And you are so right about the staying positive part ... itīs just hard sometimes when you feel down !!! But I know that there are better times to come !!! I know it !!! I just need to wait for them ... there is one thing Iīve always on my mind: MY GIRLS AND THE REST OF MY FAMILY IS HEALTHY !!! Thatīs the greatest gift you can get and although Iīm not feeling that good right now, I know it comes from all the stress Iīm in and Iīve been going through - so I know that I will be fine again soon. I trust in my own strength, cause I know that I can be a strong person, otherwise I wouldnīt be here today !!!

And to be frustrated sometimes is a part of the progress !!! LOL

It's good to hear from you again, Peregrin. I'm glad you're doing fine allthough I can't understand how you can like school.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

Idril, I like school because I could learn there what I like :) history :) and military history :) and be with my friends :)
There are some boring classes which we have to take but in the meantime my friends and I have fun together.
We have a lot of good teachers, they are good historians, and their classes ara very interesting.
Last week in a military history class we had a good conversation about the starting of the first World War. That was interesting.
One day before in an other class we talked about the middle age history of my country. That was interesting too, although some info was familiar to me from the last year.
I am so glad to be there again and can see my friends and teachers. :)

I totally agree with you guys, positive thinking makes a big difference, but it's not always easy cos sometimes you just want to feel sorry for yourself for a while *lol*

I think you are on the right track there, Anne; reminding myself that tomorrow is a new day is what usually gets me through the more challenging times.

Oh, then you're really lucky. I don't have much fun at school, at least not at the moment, because we're all really stressed. The final exams are really close. And we don't have many good teachers. Actually I have only two teachers who can really explain and make their students understand what we're talking about. But the rest....

Hope you're all doing good. I'm allright. I'm learning a lot but somehow nothing wants to stay in my head (I started with German and English so far). :? I think learning biology will be easy, because I like it so much. But history.... aaaaah! I don't how how to learn that. It's sooo much. :?

    thank you.
All I can do is giving my best... but.... aaaaaaaaaah!

The people of my grade made a big party at our school today. Beer and sausages at seven in the morning! :? Most of them were drunk when I arrived at school, because a friend and I had our last Latin-lesson today and we didn't want to miss it. So we kept hiding and everytime we heard those people comming we prayed our teacher might come fast. Our teacher wasn't too happy about that party either, so together we went into a small room and locked the door

And you know what they sang all the time? "We got our Abitur! we got our Abitur!" But that's not true! The exams aren't over. They haven't even started yet! They can't just act like they passed their Abitur. They wrote Abi 08 on their cheeks and ran trhough the school, screaming and shouting, scaring the little ones and the teachers (and me of course). I was so glad when I could leave the school. Tomorrow will be my last day and then I only have to come back to write my exams.

OMG, i'm glad I've got this part behind me^^. But there are always those kind of people - but do you have some jokes you can play on your teachers when all is done? that's the best part of it. our principal had to eat a banana and making sexy poses while eating it in front of the whole school. that was fun because it looked like she wasn't doing it for the first time :D

BTW I was ill the last few weeks and wasn't really in the mood to be online that often. but i'm better today.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Peregrin - 10.04.2008, 23:37

I am just learning learning learning and thinking about my future...

now I am in a very depressive mood since yesterday.
and not just because I am tired, slept very little, have problems at home with my family...
yesterday I said something about Native Americans during a class, about the Sioux word, that that is not right, and then they do not listen to me, and they laughed at me, one who laughed is one of my best friends. It felt very bad for me that they do not take me seriously about this topic.
Today I talked to my friend, said to him that that was not too good that he laughed at me, and he hurt me. He said that was not on purpose, but that is not better because I know that they do not take me seriously because I want to do my work on Native American history which is so rare here and I said I know that it is harder and my work will be harder in this profession with this topic.
And then he said that America is far away from Hungary, they never will teach Native American history here, and nobody cares about Indians here, nobody is interested in them.
I became totally upset and down, and cried and I am so sad about this.
He is my friend and he said me such a thing in a mood which was not so kind.
Did you ever meet, face things like this? Is it really true? Because that is not my experience, I know people who are interested although not professionally as me.
Or I just do an elephant from a little animal? I thought about this could happen, but just faced with it now.
I knew it will be hard, so much harder, but some of my friends were so kind when I mentioned them this and they encourage me.
Sometimes I need more courage to mention the history of Native Americans to the teachers that I would like to write about them, because I am afraid of the reaction.
I hope it will change, and will be a bit better.

As hard as it sounds, don't let thm get you down! There will always be people who laugh about those who are interessted in Native American culture, because to them an Indian is a screaming man on a horse shooting arrows at soldiers and who will be killed anyway. They have no idea about what's really going on. And they are not interessed, because then they had to change their opinion and most people are too lazy to change. Even here in Germany people laugh at you when you tell them you're interessted in NA culture. Just because they have no idea what it really means.
And the argument "America was too far away from Hungary" is not fair at all. Today you can go everywhere by plane, ship, train, car etc.
Don't change/stop your interests just because they seem strange to your friends. Don't care about it when they laugh. They will stop when they reacognized how serious you're about it. It sure will be a hard time, especially because you're best friends laughs at you, too, but life's never easy. There will always be people like that. Just tell your friends what you think and that you didn't like what they did and don't be afraid of their reactions. As your friends they will accept you interest in NA culture - sooner or later. Just don't give up

I am so sorry to hear that *gives Peregrin a big hug* we both work in related faculties and it hurts me that there are still people who think this way. I mean if it where people who don't care about history and ethnology - ok - but they aren't. I know it'as hard, but Idril is right. Fight for your interests and don't let them hurting you just because they have different views. This shows that you are weigh more open minded and look beyond your own nose. And if they don't understand you - they could accept it at least.
I am really lucky to have fellow students who are really openminded and interested in NA Culture too. We even have the opportunity to work on NA objects. But it really makes me sad that there are still people in our faculties who are not tolerant and openminded to other views. If the world isn't at least we should be. so don't give up - I'm with you in my heart and mind

There are only a few Europeans who are seriously interested in NA culture and I agree with Idril on people just not knowing about it and thatīs why they are laughing ... I could get into this topic, but all I want to say is, that I was called "Indian bitch" here in my town and still people are smiling in a strange way when I talk about NA culture and issues. I got used to it and it wonīt bar me from keep on doing it !!! Some of my best friends donīt understand why Iīm into NA culture either and they get this strange look on their faces when I start telling them about it. They have their own opinion about this. We accept each others opinion and just donīt talk about it that often.
Donīt expect a culture to be more accepted in a foreign country, when itīs not accepted in its own country !!! All we can do is keep on telling people about it and from 10 at least 1 will listen ... so itīs a good thing to do!

I read all of your experiences with other people don't liking NA culture and I am shocked. I'm sorry that you meet with all refusal concerning NA culture.

newnativspirit wrote: There are only a few Europeans who are seriously interested in NA culture and I agree with Idril on people just not knowing about it and thatīs why they are laughing ...

About weird smiles and looks, I know about that too.
Yesterday I talked to someone about NA people and how they live nowadays.

The only things she could say: "I have never thougt about NA people before, they never crossed my mind."

Told her that that's the problem with most people.
If it is on purpose or not, they are almost "forgotten".

Even some kids at my kids school didn't believe NA people still exist.
I printed out some shots of ANE and showed it to them.

I told them that I have a friend, who's name is Jay Tavare, and he's a Native. Jay has a friend who belongs with the Bear people, who's a medicine man and who is a Native also.

    Then you get the questions.
Do they still live in a teepee?
    Do they still ride horses?
Do they really dance around fire?

It took me almost 2 hours to make these kids believe that Natives and tribes still exist. Teacher didn't mind about that at all, LOL.
She loved to listen to what I had to say.

There even was a mother who came late for work because of that, LOL.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    newnativspirit - 11.04.2008, 21:43

Itīs easy to teach kids - they are usually facinated and listen! But adults mostly donīt even take their time to listen ...

I love to work with kids and teens and tell them about NA culture. But when it comes to spirituality most parents donīt like it, cause Iīm teaching religion in their opinion ...

No matter what happens I will never give up telling about NA culture and the truth about how Indians are living today!

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 12.04.2008, 20:26

yep. It's true. It's much easier to teach children. Adults - mostly - don't have enough time and fantasy to learn.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    evenstar - 14.04.2008, 10:43

It seems to me that it's much easier to teach children anything because their minds are still forming and they have yet to be influenced by other people's opinions. I think when we get older we tend to become more set in our ways and less open to new ideas, which is a shame really. Anyway, that's enough cynicism from me for one day!

Thank you so much for your words :) you helped me a lot to deal with it.
    And yes, you are right.
And I also experienced the weird smiles and looks when I just mention NA culture, people, history to the people here. But I did not expect such hard words from one of my best friends, because I thought he is not like the others.
Anne, I really appreciate your work, inspite of all of these things you wrote down you do it hardly and never give it up, that is a great thing. :) Keep it up!
Liadan, you are so lucky with those experiences :)
Liadan, Idril, thanks for you words, and that you encourage me, helps me a lot.
Not fair that in Europe (and in the world) people are like that, it makes that even more harder.
I did not think of giving up this, I will work on it even more harder.
Thanks for your support girls :) send you smiles and hugs :)

    You know what?

If people did know more about how Natives live and how they live their lives, then maybe the whole world would be better.

Take the pearls of wisdom, for example, if everybody would try to live by these rules, then we didn't have to worry about climate changing, right?

We wouldn't have the terrible wars that are taking place now.
Everybody would accept eachother for who they are, what they are and where they come from.

I teach my kids these pearls and tell them never to forget.
I tell them to live by these pearls as much as they can.

For the people who don't know the pearls of wisdom:

I agree with you soccer_lady . But we'll never know because it's these "if"-questions... I like those pearls of wisdom. I try to live the Wiccan Rede, and in general it is very similiar to the pearls of wisdom. Wiccan Rede I think it's good that we can children best though adults don't listen. kids are the future adults so we may have a chance:wink:

I'm not quite sure if we would not have to deal with climate change. there has always been climate change , even without human's help. But the problem now is that there is so much CO2 in the atmosphere. lots of carbon wanders into the ocean where it changes into H2CO3 (carbonic acid) - which affects and solves the reefs of the ocean. And that scares me.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    At least not enough.
Big companies make us believe they gathered money to plant new trees or to protect the rainforest, but if you search a bit you find out that this money went into their own pockets insteat of the help projects.

this is a little banner i made:

    Re: Where did everybody go?

I would like to pin that on some people's fridge.... :x

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    evenstar - 16.04.2008, 10:52

    That's a great banner, Liadan.

The issue with climate change is that, even though the earth does go through natural cycles, it has never been as severe as it is now. I find it very difficult to believe that all of the emissions we pump into the atmosphere everyday are not having any effect on the planet. If you haven't already seen it, I highly recommend Al Gore's documentary "An Inconvenient Truth". I found it to be incredibly eye opening.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    newnativspirit - 16.04.2008, 11:10

Itīs for a fact that the damage was caused already years ago, when we werenīt aware of what we are doing to mother earth ... now that we are aware of it we can provide further damages.

Iīve heard about the documentary and I think Al Gore is doing a great job, but still not enough people are listening!

Awareness is only the first step - we need to change soooooooooo many things in our lives we already got used to - like driving our cars and other "simple" things. We all became too convenient and donīt want to miss any of our modern comforts. We want to be warm in winter, we want to be flexible to go whereever we want to go - arenīt you the same way?

I hope that we will find a solution for this problem ... we need to start with little steps ... the summary of those will have an effect for sure. But itīs still a long way to go.

But as long as you are aware of the problem, you already did the first step! Now letīs work on the second one !!!

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 16.04.2008, 11:20

The best way would be to invent cars that need air insteat of gas. That would be cool.

    Here I am !

Sorry, for not being online for such a long time. Besides my internet connection being down for a while, I am very busy right now. Had to go to school for 3 weeks and take some courses and now there is one week of a internship left which I will do for our local youthworker. We are working on a project that will take most of my time till September. I will try to stop by here as often as possible, but canīt make any promises right now. Plus I applied for a job at university in Trier and wait for their answer. They were looking for somebody who can speak and write English. I would have to work for a professor at the faculty of psychology. Sounds intersting, right?

So these are the news about me.

The next Indian filmfestival is coming up in March 2009 too and so I have to think about that as well ...

Not to forget my girls! We have six weeks of summerbreak now and I will have to keep them busy in some way ... LOL

Hope everybody is doing fine !!!

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    evenstar - 02.07.2008, 04:32

Congrats, Eddiefever! It seems that they make getting a driver's licence really hard these days, which is probably a good thing. It almost scared me how easily I got my licence. I passed the practical test the first time around even though my driving was shocking (I wasn't usually a bad driver, just really nervous during the test and made a lot of mistakes) *lol* Not sure if it's the same in Europe, but over here you now have to do so many hours of logged driving before you can get your licence.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 02.07.2008, 19:04

here thos tests have become really really hard. Eralier it was easier to get your licence. Today you have to drive at least 14 hours (I think) in a driving school through various locations and times, you have a theory-test and a practical test. And in earlier times when you made your licence for a car you were also allowed to drive trucks of a special weight, motorcorss-bikes etc. Today you have to make a licence for about every vehicle. :? And the tests, especially the practical ones, are a lot more difficult today. You drive at least 20 minutes and even one little mistake can cost your licence.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    newnativspirit - 03.07.2008, 21:07

Idril, about period of time are you talking? LOL
I got my driverīs license 10 years ago and it was already like this ... and my ex had to make an additional licence for riding his motor bike and that was like 20 years ago ... so itīs always been like one had to take a certain number of practical lessons after one made the theroetical exam.

Of course itīs a good thing to teach driving as long as possible ... but it also depends on the driver. If I see some of my sonīs friends driving Iīm scared. As long as they are learners they drive like they should drive and after they got the license they behave like hell drivers !!! Iīm glad my son is still driving slowly and safe and he never drinks when heīs the driver. Not a lot of people do that! No matter how many driving lessons they had ...

    @ eddiefever:

then Iīll think of you while Iīm there ... :) Iīm leaving tomorrow afternoon and will come back home on Sunday! We may go to Amsterdam or to Zeeland on Sat ... depends on the weather. But it looks like itīs gonna be raining this weekend ... weīll see! Shopping in Eindhoven or Tilburg would be fine with me too !!! I love to go shopping in Holland !!!

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 03.07.2008, 21:22

When my mum and my dad made their licence they had only one practical test and they're allowed to drive almost everything with a maximum weight of 7.5 tons :?

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    newnativspirit - 03.07.2008, 21:31

Well, Charly turns 40 now and I think your parents are a bit older - so maybe it really was like that back then ... Charly was like 20 years old when he got his driverīs license

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    yeah, that could be

    *sneaks in* I'M ALIVE!!!! :D

just wanted to let you know i'm alive. Real live keeps me busy with exams and preparations for leaving to England this year. how have you all been? any news? :D

    *sneaks out*

Edit: my rabbit is incurable ill. It is called Encephalitozoon Cuniculi and it is some kind of bacteria living in his nervous system. these nasty little buggers accrete in his intestine and make cysts in his brain. when a cyst grows my rabbits got a real horrible bout (like epilepsy) and I can't do anything. those bouts are 1 to 2 times a month and everytime it is possible that his heart stops beating :( this scares me, I love him so much.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 05.07.2008, 19:35

oh, that's so horrible! *big hug*

Our vaulting horse passed away not long ago, because of an incurable illness in his leg. I know exactly how you feel. We got the news a week before our horse died and well... not very nice. *big hug again* I'm so sorry.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Liadan - 05.07.2008, 19:52

aww, thank you. and i'm so sorry to hear that the horse died. well, i hope my rabbit's got more that a week left. At least i know what's wrong and I can enjoy the time with him that's left. I only hope he's still there when i come back from England.

It's always hard losing a beloved pet. But that's how it goes. Only thing we can do is to have a good time as long as we got each other.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 05.07.2008, 20:40

yeah, that's true. It's like loosing a very good friend.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you, but remember: Even when your rabbit wont be alive anymore when you come back from England, your rabbit will be at a better place then

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Liadan - 05.07.2008, 22:16

yeah you are right. I don't want him to suffer. but I keep my fingers crossed that he'll be here for a long time.

A better place than here with me? no way!!! :) no, just kidding. I believe there is an animal heaven where my dog and my first rabbit wait for him and show him around. and probably cheek your horse ;)

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 05.07.2008, 23:47

lol no, our horse is king in horse heaven, telling every other horse where exactly he wants his next massage and which nice female horse should do this for them etc etc etc

    hey

sorry I didn't come by for a while. My rabbit just got really ill and over the last few days he refused water and food. I tried to force-feed him but he didn't swallow. Everything just came out is mouth. I just heard him scream last night and found him dead this morning in his cage. now we try to figure out what we shall do with him (burying is not allowed in Berlin because of the very high ground water). I'll miss him so much. This place is going to be very empty without him. RIP Troll.

oh, that's horrible. I'm so sorry for you! *big hug* I don't know what to do with him either... Maybe you should ask your vet... :?

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Liadan - 03.08.2008, 10:52

thanks. my mom asked the vet and they said it is legal to bury small animals on private property... that's what we did. I really miss him and the most horrible is cleaning. I dug the grave and now I feel a bit better. I'll just miss our little cuddle times, you know?

just a bit of dealing with the loss and keeping my mind busy

At least he doesn't suffer anymore...

thank you. I started making graphic art in March.
    e.g. from Stargate:

I also tried some native american actors but didn't work yet. I need aspecial scene/mood to make something.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

thank you. - it really isn't easy making something good from "please make me a eddie banner" (e.g.), or "hey, write me a lovestory" people just don't know that one needs some kind of inspiration, like a hustle in the right direction. ^^

    Re: Where did everybody go?

yeah, that's true. Some people just can't imagine that you need some time to find an inspiration to make something they will like.

The banners are great !!! Great job!

Well, Iīm busy with the Indian village near by. The opening will be Sept 13/14 and I still need to go to school and teach the kids about NA culture to be prepared for the event. Plus my workshop at kindergarten starts next Tuesday ... and I got one more sports class to give! All this sounds good, but itīs a lot of work without good payment! :(

I will keep you guys updated on the Indian village ... first they wanted to build it up in an authentic way, but they ended up creating another tourist attraction. At least Iīm free to teach the truth ...

I have learned that when it comes to Jay, you sometimes have to walk away from it and leave it for a couple of days, especially when you get frustrated and pissed off at eachother.

In the end it pays off, a guy wanted the whole movie in PDF for a presentation to get some investors.

Yesterday I found out that someone of some kind of med school signed up for the Sacred list, LOL.

So things are going pretty good, :)

plus I had a few private things going on that didnīt make me feel too good ... Iīm finally divorced (after 3 years) and with so many memories coming back again my feelings were going crazy ...

BUT NOW IīM DOING OK !!! Thinks seem to turn out in a good way and I feel strong enough again to work on a new concept for NNS ! I need to think about a few things and make some changes ! But I will keep up keeping you guys informed !

Sorry, can't be online as much as want at the moment.
We are getting a new kitchen, they started last friday and if I want to do something on the internet, I have to go out the back door, go all the way around the house, go back in through the front door and go upstairs.. :(

They have placed the new tiles today, so the kitchen isn't cut of from the livingroom anymore, :)

Tomorrow they start with the kitchen, :) ... finally.

After that I can finally clean the house, it's soooo dirty downstairs.. :(

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 16.09.2008, 15:52

    Yeah, I can imagine.
But soon it will be over

What color(s) has your new kitchen?

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Soccer_lady - 16.09.2008, 16:37

Light oak witha grey wash over it.
I'll post some pics when it's done, :)

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Soccer_lady - 17.09.2008, 14:51

A very big mess in the livingroom, kitchen closed of from livingroom, tiles are coming off.

We don't smoke downstairs (only in the room where the computer is, wich is upstairs), so I went outside for a smoke and the paper fell off, LOL
    What a mess...

    This morning:

    1 1/2 hour later:

    Almost done...

Just to show you how dirty the livingroom is..
Cleaned the floor on my knees last night... :-[

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 18.09.2008, 11:26

Wow! That's really a lot of dirt!

But I like your new kitchen! The color is pretty cool

But is it possible for you to make the pics a bit smaller? Because that way they need so much space

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    newnativspirit - 18.09.2008, 12:58

awwwwwwww - good to know you are watching the board, Idril!

Wow, I had a stressful week and I really need a break!

Since yesterday my granny is in hospital and Iīm waiting for my mom to let me know what is going on now ... my granny had to go to a hospital in Trier today for further medical examinations and I hope they will find out whatīs wrong with her. Iīm a bit concerned and some of you know that I love my granny to death (although she was getting on my nerves in the past days). I had her here with me on Monday cause she wasnīt doing too good and when she left she almost cried, cause the girls were taking care of her and asked her if she needed something all afternoon ... guess she needs that once in a while.

All the stress pushed me into another panic attack this morning and I still feel sick somehow, but I have Emma with me and she makes me feel better.

btw - I got my hair cut off again!!! ALL SHORT AGAIN!

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 18.09.2008, 17:03

    Well, that's my job

Thx for "updating" the pics, Soccer_lady :D

Hey I'm stopping by....still don't have my laptop at home so it's going to be a long weekend but my tooth is killing me and I may go in for an emergency visit either tonight or tomorrow. I look for them to eventually pull the tooth - wish they would go on and do it and get it over with. It's the very last one on the top right side - no biggy to loose it.

It's slow this afternoon and I'm counting down the minutes till I can go home. Here I'm trying to get back on the board and wham down goes my laptop. Don't know if the storm had anything to do with it or not. Seems everyone has been having problems here in KY and there is still debris all over the place.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    newnativspirit - 26.09.2008, 20:18

I have problems with a tooth too ... had a filling done on Monday and now it starts hurting :(. The dentist told me that if Iīll have problems we need to talk about a bridge :(

Sorry to hear all that ... hope you will feel better soon and KY will get back to regular life in a few

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    enelya06 - 26.09.2008, 20:28

Louisville will get back to looking like it did - minus a few trees. I have a bridge and it's not bad but they could possibly have to do one if they pull that tooth. I'd just soon not have one as it's in the very back of my mouth and who is going to see it... only 2 hours till I get off. I've got to wash my hair and go through clothes...always fun right...

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 26.09.2008, 20:46

I think all of you often, I miss to be here.

Sorry, I do not understand german. Iam thinking about leaving....

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    newnativspirit - 23.11.2008, 12:43

oh - these people are here for a while, cause they are all members of another board, but there is a bad mobbing going on. So I offered to them to come here for a while. Here nobody is criticizing them for their posts ... they are happy to have this place ...

Well, I donīt know where the others went - guess enelya will be online again next week, cause she has no computer access at home.

Donīt leave us, Mela! Start a conversation !!!! ;)

    Re: Where did everybody go?

These girls are welcome to stay as long as they want!!

I really hate mobbing. :x I went trough that in school.
The other kids where sooo mean to me. :(
I still suffer from it sometimes.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

yes, we used to meet on another forum and it got real bad there - whenever someone wrote something there was a mean comment following and in the end nobody dared writing anymore ... the administrator even had to close a few threads and told everybody to stop otherwise the forum will get deleted.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

Don't leave, Mela ;) I mus admit I didn't write in the english threads that often in the last time. I'm really sorry, I will start writing again. But I'm glad you come here more often now ;)

*sneaks in* hi everyone. you still know me? :D I'm sorry i was absent for so long but real life was/still is very busy. I am in England now, doing my internship. Well, actually I have only one week left and then I'm coming home again  time runs... And I'm a bit scared going home again - I've been 3 months on my own in a foreign country. that's going to be weird. Another reason is that my second rabbit, McGyver also died after my Troll died. Now we don't have any pets anymore and everything will be so weird :(

So how is everybody? what did I miss? Idril how's your Abitur? Anne how are you? Mela, don't leave :( *waves to all the others i forgot*

oh and look at all the new and lovely smileys :D
    well done Anne

    Hello all!!!
    I am back!!! :) :big_hello
I wrote an essay since october, I started the research more than a year ago for it, so I was really really very busy. But I missed you and the board.
I wrote the essay for a national competition in my country, I wrote a history topic, guess about whom! Native Americans of course! :) It is about Cherokee history and the US indian policy, mainly the 1950s termination era.
I passed the local stage of the competition at my university, I had to present my essay, and they liked it :)
they were interesting in NA topic, they had questions :) it was great!!!
So I slept very little in the last two weeks, and I am very tired.
The exam time here will start in the middle of december, and next week
I will take 3 presentations, all of them in military history topic. It will be very exciting :)
But after that I will have more time for this board :)
I hope you are allright! Have a great weekend!
    Rita

I'm sorry you are still looking for a job. My mother lost her job too :( we both hope it will change next year but the crisis made everyone very hesitating to employ new people

Oh yes, forgot that i posted in here before I returned to Germany. I finally got my things here sorted, university is busy as always and I am sooo broke. They cancelled my train from York to Manchester and I missed my flight there. But I bought a ticket to London (which was very expensive) and cought up my flight there. And guess what: I sat next to a native american from Canada. Well, Yukon. and he was the most annoying person I ever met. He just made very strange noises and couldn't sit still  so i decided to talk to him just to distract me from these noises. Which was good. He was quite ok though had a very strange humor. He was very inderested in the mixed food which we call here "Studentenfutter" with dried fruits and nuts. What's the english term? I don't know... well, it was interesting but I'm glad the flight took only 1 hour

Hey!!! good to know they are interested in this topic. wasn't it you who wasn't taken serious because you were into the NA - topic? I'm glad they changed their minds.

edit: haha, i didn't know there was this na-smiley when I type the full "native american" word. very nice :D

    indeed :)

York is wonderful. it's very tiny compared to Berlin but I loved it. 1000 years old buildings, the citywall, medieval buildings. did you know this is the most haunted city in great britain? or even the world? don't really remember :P
The people are very nice. very patient. It's a safe area though I was freaked out by what they call "drinking culture". that's a paradoxon - drinking and culture don't belong next to each other in one sentence. The people just go mad at weekends. one reason i first didn't go out much but I soon became braver and even loved walking through the city at night. one song will always remind me of that time: Amy MacDonald "this is the life" :)

if you want to see pictures you can have a look at my blog. I took quite a few, most in the early and late posts :) http://conqueringyork.blogspot.com/

rememinds me that i still need to make my last entry there... *gah*

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 14.12.2008, 19:05

oh, the most haunted city? Sounds really nice! Maybe I should go to York then lol

I'm looking at the pictures! It looks soooo good there! :D

What do you mean by drinking culture? Do they get drunk every weekend? Badly drunk?

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Liadan - 14.12.2008, 19:14

thank you :D you really should go there. it's very beautiful. :)

badly badly drunk. Once I even saw a blood trace through the whole city centre. they are unpredictable, they drink until they can't walk anymore, they scream and they run riot. every weekend... very sad...

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 14.12.2008, 19:23

ok, maybe I should go to York only during day-time  Otherwise i'd probably be complitely lost. Me, the aboslute non-drinker, who gets drunk after a half glass of beer  and all those drunk people. Oh my

I will maybe walk along the Hadrians Wall together with my mum, my sister and a friend next summer. ;) From the east coast to the west coast :D

    Hello everyone!

Sorry I haven't posted for sooo long. I don't really have much of an excuse, aside from being distracted by other things. I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year's (Anne, I ended up posting a comment on your myspace page instead of here).

Anyway, I hope you are all doing well and are in good health :P Has Enelya been around at all? Haven't heard anything from her in the longest time it seems...

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    Idril - 16.03.2009, 11:33

well, actually only eddiefever, Anne, Frogman and me are still posting here... Most of the time it's only eddiefever and me. The rest has disappeared :( I don't know about enelya or Mela or anyone else. Haven't heard from them for ages.

But it would be nice to here a bit more from you :D

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    evenstar - 17.03.2009, 05:24

Is Frogman a new person? Don't think we've met before.

Sorry, Idril *head hanging low* I will do my best to check in more often.

I hope Nancy is okay. The last I heard from her she was having some problems. I might send her an email on myspace to see how she's doing.

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    newnativspirit - 17.03.2009, 09:03

yes, it was very quiet here lately ... guess, everybody is busy with other things - I was for sure! Had to find me a new job and set priorities ... and because I donīt get that much info on any actor right now, there were no news to be posted. Told Nathaniel about I had to give up NNS as a business and he promised to still stay in touch and keep me updated. But he is busy as well ...
As for Nancy I know that she is very busy and they still have to deal with problems resulting from the ice storm they had a few months ago ... but she promised to stay in touch as well, for she is also missing us.

Frogmen is one of the new German members ... he and some others came over here after we had real bad fights with members of a German board we all have been members of. So I offered a few good friends to join us here and opened a thread for the German people.

Which I could post more news about our native artists and I will as soon as I will get some ...

I start working at Milenaīs school tomorrow ... itīs been a long way to get there and now Iīm all excited. I have to get back to maths which will take a lot of time and means a lot of studies for me. Iīll also give English and German classes. We have "normal" classes and day care classes and the day care classes do get some special support - this is my job now. Plus I can give Aerobic classes once a week and maybe I can become a sports teacher after summer break for one of the teachers is leaving ... so now you know at least why I have been so busy, cause I needed to get things done and still there are so many things I need to get organized, cause I will be working 3 days a week in the morning and 2 days in the afternoon ... plus lunch time every day! But I will get it done somehow ...

    Re: Where did everybody go?

    evenstar - 18.03.2009, 07:42

Sorry to hear that you're not doing NNS as a business anymore. That must've been a tough decision to make. I think you mentioned the ice storm to me last time. Poor Nancy. I hope she checks in with us soon.

So you are a teacher now?? That is great news! Are you teaching Maths too? That was my worst subject at school. You always seem like you've got so much on your plate. I wonder how you cope with it all!

Hope everybody else is doing well also. Two short working weeks this week and next for easter, so that's something to look forward to! :D

    Hello everyone!
    I am here again :)
I was not home at the summer, I spent it with my cousins.
    But I didnt have net.
But now I moved back to college, so I have net and can visit the forum again :)
The university term started today :) I was waiting for it all summer with excitement, and I am so glad now that I got back to school and met my friends and will meet with more of them during this week and I will meet my favourite teachers too. :)
Imagine that I got the support by the state status at the university, which means that I will dont have to pay school fees in the next 3 terms :) and during this time I will get my history diploma :)
So now I feel so happy and free :)
And in this weekend I will fly to Switzerland to spend the weekend there. And I really hope that I will meet Bobby Castillo at last there. :) I am so excited about it too.
I will try to spend more time here :) I saw some films about Native Americans, especially with Graham Greene :)
Nah now I am going to go to sleep cos tomorrow I will work and then go back to university for a class. :)
    Be good and take care!
