what does his dead mean to you? this is also a question which is mainly concerning the believers in here! who thinks it doesn't matter? .....?
I have to admit that to myself it doesn't mean that much, but I'm interested in what will happen now, who will be the next and such!
I'm a non-believer, as I have always been, as stupid as it sounds....but let's take that beside!
but I'm also interested in hearing the op's of ppl who are believers (catholic in that way for sure, as protestant is more "frank")

I'm not a Catholic, first off. I am sad to see him go, Pope John Paul II has done more to change the world socially, for the better, than anyone else during his span. He was a non violent man that helped bring solidarity to Poland, and release the grip of the iron hand, at the time. He also did more to bring down the Berlin Wall and unite Germany than all the politicians together, without grandstanding or taking credit. He traveled to places around the globe to help and speak to the ordinary people. This at times when no politician would dare go. In my opinion, the world lost one of the greatest humanitarians ever. I doubt very seriously that they, the Catholic Church, will be able to find a leader that can come close to what John Paul II has done.

he has indeed done a lot for the people worldwide!
and if I do remember right you are absolutely correct by saying that this pope was unique, better than every other one the world ever had!
and yes, he shall rest in peace and I hope the vatican may find somebody who is similar to him
I'm not gonna mourn now and I'm still not that much interested in it, but we can pay the last respects to him though!
