    My two cents worth...
So here goes- no need to reply, just wanting to vent.

Why is it that some people (of the male persuasion) think that depression is all in your head? And because it never happens to them- they think you should just "deal with it and get over it"? I mean, I am a very sensitive person, and if this happens to me every once in a while, then why can't he just try to support my craziness and give me sympathy??

Also, why is it that when you want someone to talk to- no one is there. And when you feel like being left alone- everyone bugs you? Is this just Murphy's Law? Or it is Karen's Law?

I miss some people from the "other board", but I'm discouraged to go there because of the drama. So, if anyone knows Modaji (Enelya or Evenstar), please write to her and tell her to come to this board. I miss her jokes and insight.

Okay- that's all for now. Thanks for listening-

wel i could send a PM that you want to keep in touch with her

btw ,there are men that get depressions as wel
and i think there are a lot fo men that do ,but they have to hide it cause they think it's weak ,us women show it ,cause they know sooner or later ppl will notice

and when your feeling down ,your eggy ,it's normal
another reason for that is that ppl see that you are eggie and they think wel better stay out of her way ,and the other ppl already ahve deffence on ,sot hey are irritating ,

She is a member of this board !!! Contact her by sending her a pm - that should work. I guess, I also do have her email address ...

As for the depression, I know what you mean - I have to deal with this once in a while as well. Men can´t deal with this for one simple reason: they feel helpless. Men love to control situations and this is something they can´t control and they don´t know how to help. On one hand I can understand, cause when I was depressive and made my ex listen to me, everything he said and did was wrong, because I WANTED to feel bad. So even he said something really helpful I didn´t accept it and that made him mad. So after some time he tried to ignore my depression and didn´t want to be there for me no more - just because he felt helpless in the situation and that is really something men can´t deal with.
Well, I´m sorry that there are no friends around you can talk to, but we are here !!!! And I think we all have been in a situation when we really needed a friend. Be for sure, I will always take my time to listen.

I understand this feeling very well! They won't leave you alone when you just want peace and quiet, and when you need a shoulder they mysteriously don't have time for you anymore. It has to make you question whether or not your friendships and one-sided, and they want you to be there for them, but not vice versa.

I do think that some men get depressed too, but it's more of a woman's domain. What Anne said is right, men have a natural inclination to try and solve the problem. What they don't realise is that, more often than not, all you really want is for somebody to listen and validate your feelings.

I miss Modjadji too, but unfortunately don't have her contact details. I found her to be quite insightful, even though I didn't know her very well. Let's hope she starts posting here!

Hey mouseears I'm here - I don't go to the other board because of the drama but then sometimes I don't always get to get in here because of work.

I know what you are saying about "males" Sunday when Brian and I were coming up the steps from Sunday School, did he hold the door open for me.....NOOOOOOOO some gentleman. Or you have one who is a good friend and the next thing you know they don't even acknowledge you exist. (Matt is that one) - sometimes I really get down and having to pay federal tax this year - there goes my computer money.

I know what you mean too about being down and depressed - I get like that myself.

But I'm here.....and it's a wonderful feeling to know that I've got good friends.

Thanks ladies for listening- I just needed to vent and I feel much better after doing so. I've found out that this "situation" I'm in is all up to me to change. You all have heard the saying "If you don't like your life, change it". Well, I don't like my life, and many times I feel useless in trying to change it. But then, "mysteriously" answers appear. Hubby is going out of town for the rest of the week for work, and I'm going to have some alone time when little one is asleep/napping/at Grammy's or playing. So, hopefully I can do some things just for me. I don't have a lot of me-time, and I really miss it.

I'm not strong-willed enough to force myself to be assertive, that's a downfall- and I acknowledge it. So, re-encouragement works best for me. Thanks again for listening. :P I'm better at giving advice some times than taking my own. Personal problem- I know.

"I'm better at giving advice sometimes than taking my own". Oh, how familiar I am with this statement!

Glad to hear you're taking positive steps towards change!

LOL - not to take advices is typical female !!! Don´t worry about that! I don´t like to take advices, but then I just change a little thing about it and it´s not the advice I´m taking, but my own idea - LOL - totally crazy, I know!

Sometimes it helps to make little changes in life to feel better, but I understand too well that it is not always possible - especially when you have kids. I´m lucky that I have my parents and my ex´s parents near by (sometimes too close - lol) and so I´m able to take my me-time! I wish for you, that you will find a way for you and hey! YOU ARE WELCOME !!! we are here to listen to each other !!! So whenever you fell like sharing something or that you need to vent again ... here we are !!!

Making time for yourself is difficult even when you have one 17 - but I can relate to what mouseears is saying - fortunately my mom and her dad don't live too far away.

Australia is on my list to visit...in fact I could probably afford to fly there and Germany cheaper than here in the US. I was doing some looking Friday afernoon and it's actually cheaper to fly out of the US than it is to fly in the US? I found airfares for under 400.00 to Germany Australia, etc. Now there are some cities that the far is like 39.00 however most of those places they are going to I've already been or don't really care to go. Course next year I should be in a better position to travel...at least I hope I am.

$400?! Are you serious?! It costs over $2,000 to travel from here to the US. Why can't we get cheap fares like that over here, it's not fair *lol* It costs more than that to travel from one side of Australia to the other!

Those were some of the specials. I don't know if the airlines are having price wars or it was some sort of promotional deals, or last minute travel. Too it could be stand by ticket prices....

    Re: My two cents worth...

    evenstar - 21.03.2007, 05:52

Ah, I didn't know anyone besides airline employees could fly standby. I actually get really cheap airfares on Qantas cos my Dad used to work for them, but I have to fly standby, so there's no guarantee that you will get on the flight you want. Still, a very cheap fare is better than expensive one. My parents got a return ticket to Europe for $400 each last year.

Some airlines do have the standby ones and it even says so on some reservations. I will just have to save my money for coming over there - they don't put you on payment plans.

I sure hope I can post again since I was the last one on here.

I'm glad we have a topic for everything general.

Do any of you single girls have problems with people trying to fix you up. One of the professors took us out to eat today and she says "I need a man" This is not the first time I've heard this from her and I'm getting pretty sick and tired of it.

Yes, I'm SINGLE and yes I LIKE IT. After what I went through 4 years ago - if I choose to "date" again I will. Don't get me wrong I do get lonely from time to time and wish I did have someone special in my life - but it's MY LIFE - no one elses.......

I had a bad night at my part-time job last night - I'm feed up with the place and all the drama that seems to go on there now. Use to be a pleasure to go to work but now it's like hell capital H E L L. There is favoritisum going on that never went on before - every one is distrustful of each other.....it's a damn shame when you go to work and don't know who you can trust....I guess I should take that back because there is one I do trust. Pretty sad out of 9 co-workers wouldn't you think.

I've was not in a good mood when I got here to work today because of last night and then this afternoon - I'm ready for the warpath!

A variety of things are making me boil right now...but I thank you my sisters for letting me vent. It has helped somewhat.

Don't know what I'd do without you all.

    Love and hugs

Hey I'm single but in no way wanting to marry again. Being "cheated" on sort of gives "sour grapes" to ones thoughts on it. Some find it difficult to believe I've gone almost 5 years without sex...but what the don't understand is that sex is on a part of a relationship - you have to have other things in common besides just good sex. (sorry for being graphic)

Yes Idril, good things happen to bad people, and bad things happen to good people. But this is what builds character, and helps us to weed out the people in our lives we should get rid of. I don't like to see my friends (or myself) get walked on, used, or mistreated- but I know ultimately something good will come out of it. So, I just tend to wait it out, and see. HOWEVER, the waiting it the bad part for me. I sometimes get so caught up in the wanting the hurt to heal, that I neglect my other feelings and just focus on the hurt. Hence the depression, anxiety, etc. etc.

One good thing though- I've found net friends who I can chat with at 11:53pm and they won't tell me "it's too late, can I call you tomorrow?". I'm just able to vent and you all listen. And your feedback is great too- even if it takes me a few days to get it. Thanks ladies. **HUGS**

Don´t be so excited about Pathfinder! Remember Jay and Nathaniel both told me that it is cut down to a minimum of Native American presence! I didn´t go to the movies, cause I didn´t want to spent that much money on not seeing Nathaniel !!! I will wait until it´s out on DVD ...
