Mike told us that his dad told him that Floyd is in hospital right now. As some of you may know, he is very sick and considering his age one never know, if he will can go home again ...

Yeah I heard about this awhile ago. Last week there were crazy rumours going around the net about how he had passed away - it was hard to find out if it was true - but then it came out that he was still in hospital.
My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

I´m sorry that I didn´t inform you about this earlier:
Floyd Red Crow Westerman, Dakota musician, actor and activist, passed away December, 13th at 5 a.m. PST at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after an extended illness. He was 71.
A private memorial service was helt for his extended family and many friends at Westerman's home in Marina del Rey, Calif., after which he was being escorted back to Sisseton, S.D. There, a two-day wake and memorial service took part at the Tiospa Zina Tribal School gymnasium. The service, during which many dignitaries and personal friends were sharing stories and fond memories, was open to the public.

I hated to hear that he passed. He was one of the monarch's of Native American actors and musicians - he will be missed.

I'm sorry for asking this, but I'm having trouble remembering exactly who he was. I know he was in Dances with Wolves, but I can't recall which character he played?

He played the part of Chief Ten Bears, the elderly diplomat chief who was always listening to everyone’s opinion, to be sure that everyone in the tipi had a chance to express an opinion as they tried to make decisions together in council.

Thanks for the info, I thought he was the one. So he was only in his mid-50's when he made DWW?
