'Dog' Loses Extradition Battle in Mexico
    Friday, February 16, 2007 1:52 AM EST
    The Associated Press

GUADALAJARA, Mexico (AP) — A federal court cleared the way for TV bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman to be extradited to face charges in Mexico, court officials said Thursday.

Norma Jara, a spokeswoman for the second district court in Guadalajara, said the court rejected Chapman's injunction request, ruling there was no reason not to try him with the charge of deprivation of liberty of Mexico.

Mexican authorities had already asked for Chapan's extradition from the state of Hawaii.

Chapman's lawyers argued he would not be guaranteed a fair trial in Mexico, Jara said.

The charges against the 53-year-old star of the A&E reality series "Dog the Bounty Hunter" stem from his June 2003 capture of convicted rapist Andrew Luster, the Max Factor heir, in Puerto Vallarta, 210 miles west of Guadalajara.

Chapman was arrested Sept. 14 along with his son and another associate and released on $300,000 bail. He faces up to four years in a Mexican jail if convicted.

Luster's capture shot the Honolulu-based bounty hunter to fame and led to the TV series. His disappearance set off an international manhunt by police, FBI and bounty hunters trying to recoup some of the bond money. Luster is serving a 124-year prison term.

    here it is:

DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER TRIO STILL RELYING ON JUSTICE FROM MEXICO COURTS

The Chapmans’ attorneys will file an appeal on the Mexico court’s recent ruling.

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
    Friday, February 16, 2007

HONOLULU, HI - Last night, at approximately midnight, Mexico City time, the AP News Service in Guadalajara released a story that claimed the federal judge presiding over the case of Duane “Dog” Chapman, son Leland Chapman, and associate Tim Chapman, for charges of “deprivation of liberty” associated with the capture of notorious rapist Andrew Luster, had ruled that the case would be allowed to proceed, and that the three Chapmans would be extradited to Mexico to stand trial.

As of this morning, it appears that the news report was not authorized by the Mexican courts, and was premature. The news had been leaked. Unfortunately, the source’s claim was partially true regarding the judge’s decision to deny Chapman’s injunction request.

The Chapmans released the following statement.

“This news has caused us great concern and anxiety. However, our attorneys have assured us that there are many avenues we can pursue to try and prevent extradition to Mexico.

“Our attorney in Guadalajara has confirmed that a low-level employee of the court was the source of the story, but not an official
spokesperson, as the piece stated. Other news sources have quoted an attorney by the name of Jorge Huerta, who claims to be our attorney in Mexico. Huerta is not associated with our legal team or the Chapman family in any way. The AP story also stated that our attorneys have argued that we would not get a fair trial in Mexico which is also a false statement.

“Needless to say, we are hugely saddened and disappointed by the news, but this does not mean our automatic extradition to Mexico will take place as the press releases have implied. We have always maintained that we would be cleared of the charges, based upon the atrocious crimes of Andrew Luster, and because we believed we were within our rights under Mexican law.
“There is an appeals process which we intend to file with the higher court in Mexico - and there are still hearings and a process to be held in the United States regarding the extradition. We maintain that the team’s actions, in concert with Mexican law enforcement, were legal and that we were protecting Mexican citizens, and well as U.S. Citizens, from future acts of violence by Luster. We are hopeful that both countries will acknowledge the fact that his capture was of the highest importance for the safety of their citizens.

“We’d like to thank the many citizens, and government officials - including more than fifty U.S. Congressman, who have supported our case. We hope that we can continue to count on them for support in this matter, as well as their prayers.”

Aloha...Here is a brief statement from Duane & Beth. More will come soon.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    FINAL STATEMENT: 2-15-07

We only just heard about the Mexican court’s decision to continue with the extradition proceedings, and are still in shock. Our attorneys have not even been formally informed of the court’s decision, as of yet. We are obviously deeply disappointed and fearful of what will happen, and are currently absorbing the news and discussing our options at this time.

    UPDATE !!!!
[HAWAII STATE LEGISLATURE CALLS EMERGENCY HEARING TO SUPPORT “DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER” TRIO AND FIGHT THEIR EXTRADITION

The nicknamed “Chapman Resolution” to be heard in the House of Representatives tomorrow, Wednesday, March 7th, at 9 a.m. This is a special concurrent resolution which will also include the Senate.

HONOLULU – A much-anticipated emergency hearing in the Hawaii House of Representatives supporting DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER trio Duane “Dog” Chapman, Timothy “Youngblood” Chapman, and Leland Chapman, regarding the extradition charges against them, is scheduled for tomorrow, as follows:

WHO: Duane “Dog” Chapman and the Chapman family will be in attendance.

WHAT: Hearing on House Concurrent Resolution 50, introduced by State Representative Gene Ward (Rep.-Hawaii Kai-Kalama Valley)

    WHEN: Wednesday, March 7, 2007 • 9:00 a.m.

WHERE: Hawaii State Capitol, Room 329 (International Affairs Committee)

HOW: Supporters are welcome to join us at the hearing. Those unable to make it can still send testimony to (e-mail) PAR@capitol.hawaii.gov or (fax) 808-587-0793. (NOTE: Please do not send testimony to Rep. Ward’s office, at it is past the deadline and must go directly to PAR.)

Last month, Rep. Ward introduced House Concurrent Resolution 50, requesting that the Hawaii State Legislature stand up and support the Chapmans, and ask the government and courts of Mexico to drop their extradition proceedings against them. Duane “Dog” Chapman committed to personally appear before the International Affairs Committee which is hearing the measure. Once Resolution 50 passes the committee, it will be referred to the House Judiciary Committee for a second hearing, and then is expected to move forward to passage.

Ward said he has been receiving testimony “from all over the world on this issue.” Ward added, “It is not something the people of Hawaii and the nation are taking lightly; the Dog needs to be free from a Mexican jail.”

Dog, his wife and partner Beth Chapman, Tim, Leland, and the rest of the Chapman ‘ohana will be in attendance at the hearing.

“We are humbled and extremely grateful to Rep. Ward and the entire Hawaii State Legislature for stepping forward with this resolution,” said Chapman. “It means so much because this is our home and we love Hawaii, so to have such an official show of support like this is overwhelming. God bless them for giving us hope during this challenging time, despite their already busy schedules. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

    Background
Duane “Dog” Chapman, star of the top-rated A&E television show DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER, was arrested on September 14, 2006, by U.S. marshals in Hawaii on charges of illegal detention in his June 18, 2003 capture in Mexico of cosmetics heir Andrew Luster. Also arrested were Leland Chapman, Duane’s son, and Timothy Chapman, their associate. The three spent one night in the Federal Detention Center in Honolulu, and were released after posting bail.

Since the arrest, hundreds of thousands of fans from across the country and around the world – including over 50 members of Congress – have been pleading with the U.S. and Mexican authorities for their freedom, holding them up as heroes for bringing serial rapist Luster to justice. Luster is serving a 124-year prison sentence for his heinous crimes against the women he drugged, raped, and videotaped.

Most recently, the Federal Court for the Second District in Guadalajara, Mexico, issued a ruling which was not in the Chapmans’ favor. However, they have filed an appeal with the federal circuit court and continue to pray for justice and full exoneration. They currently remain free.

Lawmaker wants Mexico to drop charges against Dog
    Source: Honolulu Advertiser

A state lawmaker wants the Legislature to take a stand in support of TV bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman, who faces possible extradition to Mexico.

Rep. Gene Ward, R-17th (Kalama Valley, Queen's Gate, Hawai'i Kai), introduced House Concurrent Resolution 50, requesting that the Legislature ask the Mexican government and courts to drop charges against him.

Chapman is expected to appear before the House International Affairs Committee, which is hearing the measure at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the State Capitol, Room 329.

Chapman, along with his son Leland and colleague Timothy Chapman, are accused of unlawfully depriving the freedom of international fugitive and convicted serial rapist Andrew Luster when the three caught up with him in 2003 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and attempted to take him to the United States. Luster is serving a 124-year sentence in California.

"I have received testimony from all over the world on this issue, and it is not something the people of Hawai'i and the nation are taking lightly; the 'Dog' needs to be free from a Mexican jail," Ward said in a news release.

An appeals court in Mexico last month rejected Chapman's bid to stop extradition proceedings. The Chapmans' lawyer, William Bollard, said he will appeal that ruling.

House Committee Votes Unanimously to Support Dog Chapman and Family

HONOLULU – The much-anticipated emergency hearing in the Hawaii House of Representatives supporting DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER trio Duane “Dog” Chapman, Timothy “Youngblood” Chapman, and Leland Chapman, regarding the extradition charges against them, was supported unanimously today by the members of the House International Affairs Committee. Indeed, the members marked their enthusiastic support when asked for their votes of “Aye” or “Nay”, with “Strong Aye” and even “Super-sized Aye” votes.

House Concurrent Resolution 50, nicknamed the “Chapman Resolution,” was introduced by State Representative Gene Ward (Rep. Hawaii Kai-Kalama Valley), to call on the President of Mexico and the courts in Mexico to drop extradition efforts against the Chapmans, and show the State of Hawaii’s support for the Chapmans. At today’s hearing were Duane, Tim and Leland, Duane’s wife and partner Beth Chapman, and Duane Lee Chapman, Jr. and Lyssa Chapman, who are also regular featured cast members on the popular A&E reality television show.

Several people submitted testimony in person, including Dog, but it was noted by Committee Chair Rida Cabanilla, that hundreds of written testimonies were received, and she and her committee members had also received numerous calls re the resolution. They were overwhelmingly in support of the resolution, with only a scant minority against it, according to Cabanilla.

Among those against was the lone testifier at today’s hearing who called the hearing a “publicity stunt,” and mocked the proceedings as a waste of time.

Luckily, his words had no affect on the vote with the committee members, as evidenced by their unanimous vote in favor of the resolution. Committee Co-Chair Representative James Kunane Tokioka ended discussion among the committee by praising Dog for his compassion, noting that he has to deal with some rough criminals out there, but he does it with aloha.

To the committee, Duane Chapman said, "You guys represent the people and I just want to tell you thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will always make you proud. I didn't start this to be a hero. I just wanted people to see what I do for a living. But I'm going to show you, and I promise you (this), what a hero is."

Supporters from Hawaii, Michigan, California, and other states were present, including Make-A-Wish teenager Dean Luciano. The Chapmans try to grant Make-A-Wish requests whenever they can, and Luciano said this was his dream come true. He posed for photos with Dog and Beth, got their autographs, and was able to chat with them for a while before he had to leave. Luciano and his family returned to Michigan today after the hearing.

Now that Resolution 50 has passed the committee, it will be referred to the House Judiciary Committee for a second hearing, and then is expected to move forward to full passage by the State Legislature.

Despite some saying this measure will be ineffective in the overall fight against extradition, as this is on a State level, the Chapmans feel just the opposite. Having support from their home state has been spiritually uplifting for them, and they also feel the State’s initiative of support will be heard throughout the country, and all the way to Mexico.

Fabulous news
(wel we have to keep our fingers crossed till it's past the 8th of august )

Mexican Case Against Dog Chapman Could Be Dismissed

    Aug 1, 2007 08:40 PM EDT

(KHNL) - The Mexican case against Dog Chapman may be over. A Mexican court found the warrant of arrest against Dog could be set aside because the Statute of Limitations has run out and the case could be dismissed.

The Dog camp is being cautious because the order was received in Spanish and has not been translated to a legal certainty, but it appears to be good news for Dog and his fans.

Mexican prosecutors may also have a recourse in this case. There is a possibility the charges may be brought again.

News for the A&E Star Comes Just as He Launches His Book, "You Can Run but You Can't Hide: The Life and Times of Dog the Bounty Hunter"
By Malia Zimmerman, 8/1/2007 3:23:17 PM
Charges against A & E bounty hunting television stars Duane "Dog" Chapman, 53, Leland Chapman, 29, and Timothy Chapman, 41, have been dropped by the Mexican Court in Puerto Vallarta, says Chapman spokesperson Mona Wood.

The Chapman attorney received word of a favorable ruling, but he is still in the process of sorting out the details.

Though Wood says the Chapmans are thrilled, (Dog Chapman shouted “Hallelujah” and “Viva La Mexico!” when he heard the news) they are still awaiting actual translation of the court documents from Spanish to English before celebrating

TMZ has learned that all Mexican charges may have been dropped against famed bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman and two members of his team -- including his son. We're told these photos were taken moments after Dog learned his fate. Hallelujah!

Dog, through his publicist, told TMZ, "Viva La Mexico!"

'Dog' Chapman says Mexican charges have been dropped

REBECCA BREYER | The Honolulu Advertiser

TV bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman last night said Mexican charges against him have been dropped.

"Who would believe that the day Mexico dropped the charges on Dog, Leland and Tim is the day the book comes out?" Chapman told an audience of about 300 people last night at an event at Kahala Mall launching his new book.

Chapman raised his arm, gave a big shaka, and the crowd cheered.

"The weight has been lifted off my chest," he said. "Viva la Mexico!"

Chapman, his son Leland, and colleague Tim Chapman were arrested in September by U.S. marshals in Honolulu and jailed on an extradition warrant requested by Mexico. Prosecutors in Mexico wanted to bring them to trial because they allegedly broke Mexican law by taking now-convicted rapist and Max Factor heir Andrew Luster into custody inside Mexico in 2003. Luster is serving a 124-year sentence in California.

Chapman's attorney, Brook Hart, yesterday said he has heard charges against the reality show star have been dismissed, but said he can't confirm it until he sees an English translation of an order issued by a Mexican court.

Hart said his co-counsel in Mexico informed him of the 15-page order and that he hopes to see a translation by today or Friday.

"All I can say is that the order that the Mexican court issued, I'm told, is based upon a finding that the statute of limitations expired and that the attempted further prosecution of the Chapmans is barred by that statute," Hart said.

"I can't comment further other than to confirm that yes, an order was issued, and yes, it appears to be a very positive result for the Chapmans."

Chapman's publicist, Mona Wood, said Chapman's only statement was, "Viva la Mexico," and that his wife, Beth, "added that she'd like to thank all the fans."

"We have heard the news; we're being cautiously optimistic because we do not have the document in our hands right now," Wood said.

Jonette Murota, 37, of Kaimuki, wore a Dog the Bounty Hunter T-shirt to last night's book-signing event at Kahala Mall for "You Can Run but You Can't Hide: The Life and Times of Dog the Bounty Hunter."

"It was a story that was really relevant because it was such an injustice," said Murota, who added she wrote more than 100 letters to legislators, Congress and President Bush asking them to intervene on Chapman's behalf. "He's an American hero. I'm very happy."

Hart, while emphasizing that he can't make conclusions about the order, said he would be "very surprised" if the order didn't also apply to Chapman's son and colleague.

"I believe what has happened is very positive and favorable for the Chapmans, and once we get the order and translate it and determine what Mexico is doing, whether they're taking any further action and what (the U.S. attorney's office) may do in response to it, then we will certainly be able to discuss it more completely," he said.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Ron Johnson declined comment, saying the U.S. attorney's office has not received any official information on the matter.

this just came from an AEtv-Insider's email box from A&E insider

Earlier this week the First Criminal Court in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico dismissed all
criminal charges pending against Dog, Tim and Leland Chapman on the grounds
that the statute of limitations had expired. The order effectively cancelled all pending
charges. The ruling is, however, subject to appeal by the prosecution. If an appeal
is sought, it must be filed in Puerto Vallarta by Wednesday, August 8th.

Our thoughts and best wishes are with the Chapman family as they await the
    prosecution's decision.

"Dog" Chapman Not Out of the Woods

The Dog isn't completely free and clear yet.

While all charges against Duane "Dog" Chapman have been dropped, A&E has learned that an appeal was filed by the prosecution, trying to overturn the lower court's decision. But don't fret -- A&E says that in Mexico these appeals are just a matter of principle. Arriba!

A&E, which broadcasts "Dog the Bounty Hunter," tells TMZ, "Our thoughts and best wishes are with the Chapman family as they await the outcome of the appeal, which could take many months."

    Until then, boycott Mexico.

    GLENN BECK PROGRAM
    BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

GLENN: All right. Let's get started with Dog the Bounty Hunter. Hello, Dog.

    DOG: Aloha, Brother Glenn.

GLENN: Are you better than you were yesterday?

    DOG: Yes, time to breathe

GLENN: Yeah, a little more perspective on it. Yesterday you were on the TV program with me. Beth, let me first start with this. Beth, how is Beth? Dog she is better

GLENN: She was supposed to be on the TV show with you yesterday. We were supposed to have a nice chat about, you know, what happened and how you've been -- you know, the charges have been dropped in Mexico

    DOG: Right

GLENN: And instead it turns ugly right before we go on the air and Beth is very, very upset because you find out that the United States government has not -- well, I don't even know how to explain it. There are no American charges but they won't stop the extradition.

DOG: Well, yeah, they won't release the bail. I just can't, can't understand that. But yeah, the judge in Jalisco, Mexico, Jalisco is the state we were charged in about Luster and the judge in a 15-page opinion after our New Mexico can lawyers filed more motions and everything, the bottom line, the last page says that the absolute freedom will be granted to Tim Dwayne and Leland Chapman. So I just, you know, don't understand. A lot of things I don't understand in the federal courts, you know, because the first time I've been there, but --

    GLENN: Yeah.

GLENN: Hang on. Dog, let me just reset in case anybody is just tuning in and does not know the Dog the Bounty Hunter story with Andrew Luster. Andrew Luster is a guy who was convicted of rape 82 times?

DOG: 86 counts. He was charged with 87. Good lawyering got him one count dismissed and he was convicted of 86 counts of rape, poisoning, things we can't say on your show and blah, blah, blah.

GLENN: Yeah. I mean, this is a -- I'm surprised honestly, with all the sick movies that are out there, that this isn't a movie, the Andrew Luster story. He is the heir to the Max Factor fortune.

    DOG: Right.

GLENN: His mom just creeps me out, wants to see him go free even though he's been convicted of just heinous, heinous things. He -- convicted, then he escapes, leaves -- you know, skips bail, goes to Mexico, is there just passing money around. I mean, we all know that Mexico is corrupt. Dog the Bounty Hunter tracks him down, finds him in Mexico. You grab him. You go into his house, right? Is that it?

DOG: Well, no. He was -- you know, he was convicted, Glenn, and given 124 years. So then he went to Mexico, changed his name and ironically, you know, he's a very -- was, I'm not sure about now, but he was a very arrogant guy. His alias or his name change was David Carrera. Now, in Spanish Carrera means "On the run." And he was down there, you know, surfing. And here is the report -- you know, I'm not word for word but from the Mexican police department in his hotel room they found GHB, handcuffs, video equipment and a note that was a hit list with, you know, the district attorneys, people, witnesses on his case and also a note that said in Spanish, of course, interpreted to English, "Take your shirt off" and other things again we can't say on your show. So we -- I got a Mexican police officer with us. There was four of us. We got him in front of a taco stand. We immediately took him straight to the police department. In front of the police department they set up a road block and that's when our trouble started happening.

GLENN: Okay. But you were taking him to the police station.

    DOG: Correct.

GLENN: And they actually arrested you at the police station where you drove of your own free will.

    DOG: Correct.

GLENN: And they said that you were holding him against his will and you were going to try to take him across the border, which you were going to the police station.

DOG: Correct. But Glenn, in the very beginning in America if you're arrested for, you know, an alleged crime, the police department or district attorney has 48 hours in which to charge you, okay? Same thing in Mexico. They did file for 72 hours in Mexico. If they want to, they can have three days. After looking at the case very carefully back in 2003, the Mexican government said, wait a minute, this is not kidnapping, this is not conspiracy; this is a minor crime of deprivation of liberty. So after we sat in jail for three days, the Jalisco judge charged me with a minor crime which to me is minor and for them was minor because the punishment for the crime we were charged with is six months in prison, a fine and/or if you were a ban DEET oh, which means you have a bad word in Mexico, four-year sentence. So it was, you know, considered a misdemeanor in Mexico. They charged us with that, released us on a $1500 bail.

GLENN: Now, I don't want to -- I don't want to put words in your mouth. So I will and you can -- I will just say what I think.

    DOG: Okay.

GLENN: And you can verify or not.

    DOG: Yes, sir.

GLENN: Then Andrew Luster's family or somebody started spreading money around Mexico and started making you the target. Yes or no, or no comment?

DOG: Well, no, allegedly, yes. We were no proof but we were told by several authorities one of his relatives were on television down in Mexico with their California lawyer saying that we had beat him up, ripped his shirt off, you know, beat him up, ripped his shirt off, blah, blah, blah. When we captured him, his shirt was unbuttoned all the way down.

    GLENN: Oh, he's a Casanova.

    DOG: Pardon me?

    GLENN: The ladies dig him.

DOG: He was a Romeo, while he was asleep. You know what I mean? The judge in Jalisco, he was shown in the United States walking hand in hand with the FBI ironically with the same shirt on that was then buttoned all the way to the top. So the judge said, wait a minute, I see the shirt he's got, Dog didn't even rip his shirt. How could he have assaulted him. So being that we know they were down there, all of a sudden money hit the streets and, you know, we were told, listen, we can't -- there was a priest that was murdered in the United States back then about the same time. So we were told, listen, even in your country they can't keep people alive. You know, right now, Dog, it looks very bad. We're going to give you a fine. My lawyer said to me -- my first lawyer down there said to me, they're going to fine you, this is a minor crime; you know, you can go back home. And I said, lawyer, wait a minute. If that's true, you're going to ride with me in the airplane all the way to the United States, which he did.
GLENN: Okay. Now, the day after you are served a warrant in Hawaii for kidnapping.

    DOG: Right.

GLENN: Which you were never charged with in Mexico but the U.S. attorney's office serves you with a warrant of kidnapping.

    DOG: And conspiracy.

GLENN: Yeah, the day after -- I'm sorry, the day before you were served, if I'm not mistaken, there were some significant changes between the Mexican government and the United States government.

DOG: You know, Glenn, that I don't know. I've tried to check but it's like no comment, we don't know. And I've heard that. I've heard Felix was a top 10, on the top 10 U.S. marshals list, was taken off out of Matamoros, Mexico which is a big penitentiary and brought back. I've heard that Deputy March, which was a deputy out of Los Angeles, his killer was extradited back. Also a police officer in Denver, Colorado, his killer was given back.

GLENN: Right. There were several people the day before you were served a warrant that were shipped back that we had been trying to get for some time.

    DOG: Right.

GLENN: Now, you're served this warrant, you go through all of this trouble, we've had people that are fairly high up get involved and then all of a sudden kind of back off and say, I can't comment on any of this.

    DOG: Right.

GLENN: Which I found very, very strange.

    DOG: Right.

GLENN: You've said the whole time it doesn't smell right. Finally last week Mexico drops the charges, says don't worry about it; it's over.

    DOG: Yes, sir.

    GLENN: And then what happens?

DOG: Well, Mexico -- and, you know, we hired new lawyers in Mexico. They went in and filed motions concerning the case, the time it had taken to prosecute us, which was four years. You know, four years later, we forgot to say that four years -- once the shell hit number one, then here they come. And the bond, Glenn, in America was $500,000, opposed to $1500 in Mexico, right? And everybody's always saying, yeah, Mexico's a poor country, they're crooked, they want money. And I'm like, wait a minute. You know, who's making the money here? Mexico or America? So correct. We heard allegedly that they had done some trading and, you know, the next day we were out on kidnapping and conspiracy charges. Now, I think they fixed that. So the lawyers file a motion. A year later, we're on bond a year almost next month to the day. The judge in Jalisco looked at the cage in a 15-page opinion. You know, like I said at the bottom line of the last page, I would like to be able to quote it. It's in my briefcase but it says Timothy Chapman, Leland Chapman and Duane Dog Chapman are absolutely set free and charges dismissed. We were celebrating, you know, viva La Mexico. See, they got a new regime down there, Glenn. It is changing. You know what I mean?

    GLENN: Yeah.

DOG: You cannot hand a $100 bill and a driver's license in New Mexico no more. So they are trying to -- and I'm not just sticking up for them. They've already dropped charges. You know what I'm saying?

GLENN: Yeah, I know what you're saying.

DOG: So I was like you. I was hammering Mexico and Mexico said wait a minute, Dog, let us look at it, let us see it. And the judge was -- you know, a miracle. He did us right. That's justice. You know what I'm saying? And he said charges dismissed. So we were celebrating. Hallelujah, it was the same day the book came out. We were all yea, yea. And then there's a lady in, I think it's Mary Rodriguez in the state department that called our prosecuting attorney and judge and said, don't let him off bail yet. And we're like, wait a minute. You know, we're on bail because Mexico filed charges against us and now has dropped the charges. Just like in America, why can you hold the bond? And so, you know, I have -- we just cannot figure, we cannot figure it out why, you know, America still has us on bail when the prosecuting country or person drops charges. It's just like, you know, if you allegedly, you know, hit someone in the face or something and you make friends with that person, they go to the district attorney and say, listen, you know, Dog and I had a sand fight, we're okay now; I'd like to drop charges, okay. And they say, okay, charges are dropped, but we're not going to drop charges, you know? I just can't -- I can't figure it out. You know what I'm saying?

GLENN: There's a couple of things. First of all, I talked to your attorney and he said that this is not a clerical error or a procedural thing.

    DOG: Correct.

GLENN: There's something odd here. You are alleged to believe that there is something odd in your federal government, that maybe you hacked somebody off in our federal government which is just totally frightening that they could possibly even be in the realm of possibility here in America. You gave me a couple of names yesterday. We've contacted them already. Neither one of them will speak to us. Who are these people?

DOG: Well, you know, that's what we're trying to find out. The one name I can't -- Beth is not, you know, awake right now.

    GLENN: Yeah. Dog of course.

DOG: I don't want to call it there. And say anything because I don't want anybody to take it as a threat but I'm trying to figure out why, you know, if the county or the state that's pressing the charges said absolute freedom, that means gone, goodbye, why won't they drop it. You know, I don't know if they're afraid that we're going to sue them because, you know, booting in my door in front of my children, kidnapping a 25-year a sentence to what I really have, you know, a three-month to six month sentence, I'm not a suer, okay? Especially my own government, just like you, okay? I've made mistakes in my life. I'm sure America has, too. You know, we went down there looking for a bomb. We could barely find spoiled milk. So, you know, the mistakes have been made in any. We're all human but, you know, I don't know why -- is this a mistake or are they upset? I mean, what have I done? I've always been respectful to both governments, to cops. You know, I don't know. It -- does Luster have those kind of relatives, is that $30 million he's got really $30 million? You know, why in the world would they not drop charges, especially I hear it's a female. You know, and I told Beth yesterday. If it was her that got raped or one of her daughters, I guarantee you, good job, Doggy, you know, hallelujah. But I just don't understand. I don't know. And what I can speculate, I've done this for 30 years, I've been deep inside the criminal justice system, never into politics, but it looks like I'm going that way, right?

    GLENN: Yeah.

DOG: I just don't know, and I don't want to accuse anybody or threaten anybody, especially threaten, accuse if it's right, yes. I, too, Brother Glenn, have seen the government. I love the President. I happen to be a Republican. I'm sorry for saying that, but I just -- you know, some of the things that are happening, his regime right now, you are like freaked out. You know what I mean?

GLENN: You know, here's the thing. Dog, this is the U.S. attorney's office that is not dropping this. This is the same office, not the same prosecutor but the same office like Johnny Sutton holds in Texas that our border guards are being taught a lesson by the U.S. attorney's office. The answer to Attorney General Gonzales who only answers to George W. Bush. I will tell you that, Dog, you said to me yesterday, you know, I've talked to -- I've talked to agents from CIA, FBI to local police.

    DOG: Correct.

GLENN: When I went down to the President and I met with him a couple of weeks ago in the Oval Office, I can't tell you how many law enforcement officials came up to me from every branch that would -- I mean, one stopped me on the street, pulled his unmarked car around and made a U-turn in the street when he spotted me on the street.

    DOG: Right.

GLENN: And came and rolled his window down and said, Mr. Beck. And I said -- I thought I was in trouble. And I said, yes, sir? And he said, I just want you to keep up the work on what you're doing on the border. You're right on the money. Keep on this trail. And Dog, unfortunately I think you -- there's a chance you may be caught up in something that is bigger than you or I or unfortunately for us, border guards.

DOG: Exactly. And let me state like you did. We were exactly pulled over the same way with unmarked flashing lights, secret service, and they're like, you know, I'm law enforcement, bottom of the totem pole but I'm, you know, their stepbrother, right?

    GLENN: Yeah.

DOG: They were, Dog, thank you for what you did, keep on truckin', don't give up. You know, things happen like this. You're right, I'm totally amazed. But listen, if it was just Dog, I was single, didn't have 10 children left, it would be okay. This is -- one of my babies are here, okay? Leland is my child. Tim is like my stepbrother. I will fight like a Dog, I'm telling you right now. If it was just me, you know, in Mexico, I've made a lot of friends. I'd be down there training the cops and maybe I could do a year. I'm not letting my baby go. This is a dogfight they are going to lose. Thank God for the few times, the last few years of my life, Brother Glenn, I'm on the right side of the law and I have fought like heck for some of these things, but every time because I'm, you know, for justice, I did the right thing, I've won. But, you know, they got my baby. I will not ever stop. You know, I don't know who to blame aside, but you're right about the, you know, the Mexican guards down there. They need to release those guys. You know, what is going on in America? I mean, the guy -- I was telling you yesterday that was in charge of pedophiles, you know. They caught him with the little boy. You know what I'm saying? There's a lot of things that are going on there that are, you know, blatantly wrong. This is one of them. How can you get from a misdemeanor to a felony and then not released and, you know, what the heck is -- it's stupid. You know, it's pure stupid. I just can't -- and, of course, they're going to lose, but they're going to put us through hundreds of thousands of dollars, no sleep at night, back there laughing at us, you know. I just, it disappoints me. You know what I'm saying? Thank God they're only there for four years and then they change.

GLENN: About two months ago, maybe three months ago, you and Beth, we've had several conversations over the last few months and some of them have happened off the air, and you both have your own conclusions that you don't want to say because you don't know if they're true or not and you also don't want to point the finger at anybody, et cetera, et cetera.

    DOG: Right.

    GLENN: You are not troublemakers.

    DOG: No.

GLENN: But you said to me, Glenn, if I believe I'm going down, I'm taking them with me. I'm going out swingin'.

    DOG: That's right.

GLENN: Do you still feel that way?

DOG: Oh, absolutely. The reason I feel that way is my baby. If they say Tim and Leland go free --

GLENN: You will -- you'll unleash everything you believe to be true.

    DOG: Yes.

GLENN: And just knock them all out.

DOG: Well, you know, an eye for an eye, brother, okay? Like I say, here's me, here's a year, Dog, me and Leland, I'll go down there and take whatever happens but I feel --

GLENN: Beth's not going to. Beth thinks that you'll die in prison down there.

DOG: I know that, no prisons down there, especially to Dog the Bounty Hunter are not very bounty hunter friendly but, you know, I just -- and it's kind of an eye for an eye because, you know, they came in for kidnapping, they made a mistake. So I'm coming back on that. I mean, you know, let's stop: Dog, we're very sorry that we did this, we know that we traumatized you. You know, I love Hawaii, it's my homeland. I buried my mother there, Glenn. You know how I'm as close to my parents as you are with yours. And I was flying to LA, we were three weeks on the road. We caught a bunch of guys out of Denver, LA and that four-corner area and as we got over the islands I started shaking and I was like, oh, no. And all I remember -- again I'm not going to sue them, Brother Glenn, but I'm traumatized and, you know, I'm a tough guy. Mentally I'm the Dog. And as I flew over, I saw the islands and all I could think about was my ex-brothers, the federal marshals kicking in my door and I started shaking. I'm like, turn this plane around, let's go back to LA. You know, it just freaked -- we're totally freaked out.

GLENN: No, I don't think anybody's ever been shaking -- well, I mean, except maybe Robert Downey, Jr. that was sitting on a plane starting to shake saying take me back to LA.

    DOG: I know.

GLENN: Dog, congratulations on the book. I understand it's number one.

DOG: Yes. We got up the other day and the New York Times Best Seller list hit and, you know, I never expected -- of course, in faith I said, honey, you know, Beth, we're going to be on that list, you know, top 10. I'll take second to Mrs. Clinton or whoever else, right? We did nine states. We set eight records. Mrs. Clinton's book beat me in the last eight by 100 and I said, listen, I'll take second to her any day. I got up in the morning. We Googled the New York Times Best Seller review on the nonfiction. You Can Run But You Can't Hide, number one. I was like, oh, my God.

GLENN: That's great. I have to tell you I haven't read all of it but I've read several chapters and it's really good. It's very enjoyable.

    DOG: Thank you.

GLENN: You have an incredible, incredible story to tell and, Dog, honestly you are a guy who would have beat the snot out of me on the playground and I think you could probably snap my neck with dental floss and maybe one of your fingers, but you are truly one of the good guys and I'm glad to be your friend.

DOG: Glenn, and that's same as me. You know, you're a big guy. Take me a while, I'm telling you, especially if you got mad. I saw when you got mad the other day. I won't tell who you got mad at but I saw your righteous indignation. I said, uh-oh, Glenn Beck's going to get up and kick his rear. You are my brother, too. Thank you, brother. You know, I hate to be Dog, Dog, Dog, those guys in the Mexican prison, the guards, I feel so sorry for their families. I mean, come on. You know, what is this. What is really happening to America? I mean, 30 years ago I'm an ex-con, I'm on TV now, I'm kind of a target anyway. You know what I mean?

GLENN: I got it. I got it.

DOG: Fight back, lawyer versus lawyer, monies pass. You know, Dog in Mexico, now I've made friends there. I mean, I'm used to this bull. The two guards doing their job, you know, they shoot the guy in the butt.

GLENN: Dog, I got it. I got it. I'm with you. I gotta run. I love you. We are going to cover this. We're not going to let this go. On Monday we have an update. We're trying to get these guys cornered who are doing this to you. We have to have that on Monday. Dog, my best to you and the family and Beth. Say hi to her.
