I got a notice today that I've been approved for a computer loan through my work - so within the next two weeks, I'll have a computer for home :D
The money will be put into my account next Friday then I have 30 days to find one. I'm going to start looking this weekend (provided I get the storm mess cleaned up in a fairly timely manner)
So soon I'll be able to be on line and can chat and can IM in my own space.
Just had to share this.

yes and I'll only have to pay $34.00 out of each paycheck for the next year...but at least I'll have on-line at home.

Well I picked it out yesterday :D and will be getting it either tomorrow or Wed. I'm really getting a good deal on it - it was on sale for $449.00 regular 699.00 - with the accessories and warrenty it comes to right under 800.00. So I didn't do too bad. I've got to make sure the money has put the money on my paycheck before getting it. They had the same computer elsewhere but for around 250.00 more on sale. I went to Staples that is where we can get good discounts due to to them being a supply place for schools and such. I got an additional 20% off just because I work for U of L.
I'm really excited.

that's ok Idril - I'm sure we'll be burning up the lines. I just hope everything goes smooth with the hookup and all.
We're going to be leaving out of here shortly because the heat is really starting to kick in. I'm really excited about my computer for home and if things go good I may be able to be on line late tomorrow night or Wed. I'm sure Keri will help me out with it.

Well I'm really getting excited about my new lap top. Course Keri will have to help me hook it up. I did find a phone extension in my room which is good. I can either got with UL Net which is getting hooked into the system here at work or I'll go with the wireless. I've always connected through the system here at work which was very cheap and it was real good - however I'd be tieing up mom's telephone line.
Well see because we already have the wireless base from Bell South at home...just depends on how well the signals are - I may have to get another one...but at least by this weekend I'll be up and running.

I don´t have a problem with this. My son is learning all the computer stuff as a profession and he´s a big help. Everytime I have problems with my computer he can fix it. I save lots of money, cause he knows how to do both, hardware and software. We all do have our abilities ... damn, just realize how fast all the technical stuff is changing in our days. I can do things my mom can´t do and she knows stuff my granny has no idea of ... so I take it as a natural developement.

this is true - my mom asked me last night if I could show her how to e-mail - I told her it would be no problem. We have family that have computers and I told her it was a great way to save on the mails.
