    Sorry for not posting...
I've been MIA because my family was involved in a car accident on Thursday evening. We were coming home from my mom's house after dinner, and about to turn left onto our road. Then... wham... some idiot slammed right into our truck! It was really weird how it happened. We were sitting at the green light waiting to turn left, and I just happened to lean over my 3 y/o daughter who was in the middle of us in her car seat, because she wanted to lay her head on my shoulder. So I wrapped my arm around the back of her head, and put her head on my shoulder with my hand covering her head, and then I just happened to look up and saw a small pick-up truck coming down the road with no intentions to stop for his red light. I yelled to my hubby "look out" and as he slammed on the brakes (because he was about to turn)- the little truck was right in front of us and crunched under our front bumper. Turns out the mini-van that my husband was waiting on to pass us so we could turn onto our road, ended up hitting the little truck too, and then barely touched the driver's side of my husbands truck. But we were wedged in, and had to wait for the police to pull open our doors. The impact crunched the front of our truck and crumpled the doors, so we had to force them open. God was truely watching out for us, especially when we found the scratch marks on the hood of the truck from the wooden pallets this idiot had stolen and had in the bed of his truck- one of them flew out and skidded across our hood. We were so lucky it didn't come through our windshield and kill any of us. We are all fine physically- but we are fretting over the truck and what to do about the repairs.

So, if you can or want to- please pray for us to receive guidance about our truck and thank goodness that we were spared from injury. Thanks sisters!!

Thank God you all were not injured. Your Angels were truly watching over you. I will keep you and your family in my prayers - Praise for not being seriously injured and Guidance for your truck. Was the vehicle that hit you a stolen one.

Glad you were so lucky !!! And I hope youīll find solutions for the truck and get over the whole think pretty soon - how is your daughter doing?

My son just told me of a bad accident here today - on the street I need to drive to get to work ... one man died and the other one his badly hurt. Iīve just seen the pics on the internet and damn, there is not much left of the car !!! Hopefully I donīt know these people - because this is a small town and I work in a gym and things like that, I know a lot of people. I hate to drive on a street where somebody died ... Iīve also seen that friends of mine who are working as firemen were there and another friend of mine is driving the Emergency car had to go there, too - it must have been terrible ...

Thanks ladies for all your well wishes. I really appreciate your kind words. I'm not one for asking for prayers, but this one is more than I can handle alone.
Accidents are so scary and I hate to be involved in them. Sorry to hear about the people who were killed- that's terrible to have to die that way. I pray their souls find peace, and not linger. It's freaky sometimes when you pass by a place where you know people have died. I feel the same way. A couple of years ago an ederly couple died at the end of my road- the same intersection where we had our accident. There is an ice cream stand at that corner, and I still can't go there because of the eerie feeling I get just from knowing that someone died there. Sad though, I love their ice cream!
My daughter did really well through the whole thing. She didn't cry once, not even when the paramedics were looking her over and checking her vitals. She was really brave. Surprising for a 3 y/o. But of coarse today she barely scraped her knee and it was the end of the world. Kids are funny like that. I have a check-up with the chiropractor tomorrow just to make sure I'm okay, I have some spasams in my neck and back- but that could just be from nerves and tension. Still don't know about our truck. It was finally released today from the tow yard, and taken to the body shop for an estimate. Hoping tomorrow we will get some good news. I'll keep you all informed.

Iīm glad to hear your daughter is doing fine - I had to think about that because Iīve got a 3 y/o daughter by myself and just to imagine that something like that could happen to us and how she would react is causing kind of panic ...

Iīve seen my daughter dying once and I never want to see it again - glad she came back to me!

Just yesterday I was putting her and my other daughter into danger again, but I had no choice ... I had such a bad headache and had the feeling that my brain doesnīt even work no more ... but I had to give my elder daughter a ride to her friends place, where they get teached about the holy communion (coming up in April) and nobody was around to come and pick her up - so I had to decide to go by myself - had both girls in the car and although itīs only like a 5 min drive it was dangerous, because I had zero reactions ... Iīm glad that nothing had happened ...

I'm glad things are fine with the girls - I know accidents can be so scary and I've witness some that have made me not want to go down that road either. Over here in the states some put up crosses at the places where people or kids have died. Last Sept (05) 3 teenage boys were killed when the tire blew and they crossed the median, and hit another car. The women driving that car died too. 2 of the boys were only children.

Then about a month ago, a good friend of mine was taking his son to school - going through their normal routine when they got hit at an intersection - the guy who hit Chris's van died at the sceen, Joe (Chris's son had to go to the hospital for his chin to be stitched up) neither were wearing seat belts - but Chris hasn't been able to drive since the accident. I really felt for him.

    Anymore one just never knows.

Almost crashed into a emergency car just a few min ago. Awwwww - that was scary! I heard the sirenes when I went to pick up my daughter in kindergarten, but I didnīt expect them to come down that road !!! Because so many cars are parking in that road itīs already dangerous enough to go that road and while I was driving down there they were suddenly right in front of me. Now I know that the brakes of my car are still ok - lol - they were way too fast, because they should expect other cars to come in this road ... well, we managed it somehow ... I just drove into this small way aside and so they could pass immediatly ... then I saw fire engines and other emergency cars following them and they left the direction where my son is working ... now I wonder what happened again. Iīve sent an email to my son and heīll surely know already.
Iīm always happy when I have my family with me when the emergency cars are going somewhere ...

Car crashes are scary. My mother crashed with her in oct. 1993.She met a drunk driver. She broked almost every bone in her body and fight for her life a few days. The other driver was not hurted at all.
I hope you girls are ok. Please do not drive drunk!!

... a bad car crash again ... my son just told me that heīs seen the helicopter ... that means itīs really bad again ... damn whatīs wrong in these days? Itīs close to christmas ... I always think of all these families which are involved ... hopefully nobody died ... Iīll get aware of the whole story in a few ... my friendīs husband (where we are going now) is a fireman and heīs probably there right now ... btw I knew the man who died in the accident two days ago ... my ex-husband told me yesterday (and I had to pass the place where it happened twice today)

I heard this am on the traffic report of two injury accidents - one on the x-way and another one on the Greenbelt Hwy - over by Keri's school. I was rearended by a drunk teenager quite a few years back and it was no bed of roses.

Unfortunately people love to drink and drive....several of my friends have had encounters with them. They have toughened up the laws for this but still a lot slip through the cracks. One of our students sisters - about 4 years ago was drunk and hit an old couple and killed them. She did some time in jail and shock probation - don't know how she is doing now.

    It's just a shame.

    Re: Sorry for not posting...

    Idril - 29.11.2006, 18:57

Yeah, it's really a shame, how people can risk not only there own life, but also the lifes of others. Just to have fun or to proof themselves in front of their friends. It's just sad.

I haven't met a drunken driver yet (I might even drive like one myself lol  ) and I hope it will never happen. Several years ago we had an accident here in our village, in which a drunken driver hit another drunken man, who was lying on the street half dead, because he had drunk to much alcohol. So that he was hit by the car of the drunken driver was more like the last push to death.
But the drunken driver didn't recognize he had hit a man, he thought it was a box lieing on the street. So he even stopped at the gasstation. But when he drove of again, he had lost his "box" which lied there for several hours untill the body was found.... :?

I haven't met an emergancy car yet either. But my mum did and it was at a place where two streets meet. She didn't know where the emergancy wanted to go and stopped right in the middle of the road, so that the emergancy car had enough space to pass her.

One year ago a woman got kicked at her head by her horse. My vaulting trainer and another woman were there. The other woman rbought the horse away and stayed with the unconciouss woman, whole my trainer went to call the emergancy. We have two telephones in our club. One hanging in the stable and one upstairs and our "cafeteria". The problem is, you can't use the telefon in the stable to call someone, you can just get called. So my trainer ran upstairs and called 112, which is the number for help here in Germany. And the woman that answered the telefon told my trainer she had to call the hospital in Brake. I was very shocked, when my trainer told me that story. How can it be, that you don't get help when you call the official number for help??? I use to carry my mobile phone around me wherever I go now. Esspecially in the stable. Because I don't want to leave the hurt person alone just to run upstairs and call a special hospital, to which the number isn't written anywhere but in the telefonbook, which is lieing somewhere where noone can find it (I know, our club is well organized lol).

I've met plenty of EMS vehicles and we just pull over the best we can. Course if we hear them soon enough we can sort of clear out of their way.

We have the 911 over here in the states and sometimes it's taken them forever so it seems to reach an accident. Usually if it's bad the fire department is called and police and EMS - the fire department is real good about getting to the scene.

I like my phone in the car because if something happens we can immediately call.

yeah, thanks to the inventor of mobile phones, allthough they are not always good (people getting addicted, people who can't pay there phone bills, children who are only "cool" if they own a mobile phone etc.)

this is true and some of them even cause car wrecks - they are handy though especially for an emergency.

I can't tell you how many times I've almost been hit by someone on their "cell". If my cell rings and I'm driving I will not answer it - same for my daughter...in fact there have been times I've called her and got no answer and when she finally does answer - she tells me "I was driving".

We came upon a motorcycle accident where the guy hit a car and he was not wearing a helmet - he died instantly - here in KY it is not required to wear one.

Well ladies- here's the scoop. They totalled the truck out and we still have to agree on a price for it. The frame is bent, so the repair shop said they recommend not fixing it. Everyone is feeling good still- and the chiro says we are okay, nothing a few adjustments can't fix. But seriously, we are good, and this may prove to be a lesson we just had to learn. Good thing we have full-coverage on our truck, so this way we won't have to pay a lot out-of-pocket, just our deductable.

Oh, and they caught the guy who hit us. I talked to the deputy, and he told me the guy was being charged with 1. burglary for stealing the wooden pallets, 2. evading police, 3. causing an accident then a hit-and-run, and 4. attempted vehicular manslaughter- I guess when they caught this guy- he tried to run over an officer with another car! Man- this guy was a real winner. He doesn't have two pennies to rub together- neither does his girlfriend who was in the truck with him. She has been charged with obstructing justice, so she will be in jail for 30 to 90 days. The guy will probably be in jail 8 months to 8 years once all is said and done.

Thatīs finally good news that they caught the guy who caused the accident - well, and the truck-storie doesnīt sound too bad either.

regarding cell-phones: I have mine with me while Iīm driving, because if something happens I can call help - but I donīt answer my cell phone, besides I got somebody with me in the car (hey, Idril - you remember? talking to my ex on the phone?). First because Iīm a terrible driver  and then because Iīm saving up my money to go to the States next year, so I donīt waste my money to the cops on paying for talking on the cell phone while driving ... LOL

No seriously everybody: take responsibility; donīt drive drunk and donīt talk on the cell while driving !!!

Sorry to hear about your accident mouseears! They are not fun at all, but glad everyone is okay.

Mela, the reason why the drunk driver would have walked away unscathed is because their drunken state causes their body to go limp (as opposed to tensing up) on impact, and thus protects them from injury. This explains why the drunk driver is often the one who isn't injured, which really isn't fair!

This is true and it it unfair. Accidents will happen but when they are caused by a "drunk" it is just heart renching. Course too they have to live with the fact that they killed/injured another person due to their drinking the rest of their life....I've had a tango with drunk teenagers quite a few years ago - it's no fun - I wasn't hurt but I was ready to kill because I had my 4 year old neice in the car in the back seat. All they did was crunch in my bumper....but still they could not even hardly walk when they got out of the car - they were ages 14 16 and 18 - and as they were pitching the beer cans and bottles over the side guard rail - a police came up - he took down our info and called for back up - told me I could go - which I did. That was a night I'll never forget.

ok - letīs keep on talking about bad things: I just heard that a man here in my town shot himself last Saturday - he was into drugs and had financial problems. I knew him ... well, small town and he was one of my ex-husbands customers plus I know his sister ...

awww I'm sorry to hear that.

I hate to hear that - it seems like drugs can really play havoc on everyone....along with depression as well. A lot of suicides are committed around the holidays.

Our power here at work went off about 10 and only came on shortly before we got back from a long lunch. It's been so windy here today and there have been power outages out all over the place.

Hey Ladies!! Yes I use that term loosely. HAHAHA
Just wanted to pop in real quick. I have a few minutes to catch-up on some post reading, and I wanted to drop a line to let you know I'm still hanging in there. We have decided just to wait until after Christmas to look for a new truck. We have my car, plus my hubby's old truck that is road approved, but it uses a lot of gas and that's why we don't drive it much. So we are not really hurting- just inconvienenced. But it still sucks!!!!! Sorry- had to blow off some steam.

I don't drive while talking on my cell either. It's a pre-pay, so I make sure every minute I use counts and I don't want to waste them missing what someone says because I am too busy watching the road & traffic. Sorry to hear about everyones accidents- I only wish the best for you all. Speaking of the best- I hope this weather passes us by quickly. I too have had the bad winds that Enelya has had in her neck of the woods. I drove over a downed cable line today before I even realized. That could have been disasterous. Gesh- maybe I just need to stay home and sew.

Letīs talk about something nice !!!!! This is depressing me !!! I know that bad things do happen all the time and sometimes we need to share it with friends to feel better ...

but as I can see it, we are all doing fine - right? So, letīs enjoy life and think positive ... we are still here to have fun, fun, fun ... at least that is my plan for life - lol - Iīve been going through so many **** - so itīs time to lay back and relax and looking forward to all the good things life will have to offer to us !!!

    Re: Sorry for not posting...

    newnativspirit - 03.12.2006, 18:24

LOL - not really!!! But something will come to my mind ...

oh - it was Rüdigerīs bd party yesterday and I didnīt go there... I told you that he doesnīt want any serious relationships and there would have been like 1000 women ... lol ... it would have been fun watching him to try to get his tongue under control ... some girls are really in love with him and still hoping that one day ... and he is just playing a game. Iīm old enough to understand that game and I know how to play it, but these young girls will get hurt ... so thatīs why I didnīt go.

wow ok, it's good you didn't go lol Good girl

I had about four hours sleep tonight. I came home at 3 a clock and woke up at seven again, to be at the stable at 8 a clock. There I looked for my trainers horse and gave him a bit time to run free in the hall, because noone was there (I love it to be in the stable, when noone is there. Just me and the horses) and at about nine I looked for Fitchy, cleaned him, took some cream on his wounds and went for a walk with him. Then I came home and wanted to learn for biology but I fall sleep and slept untill 2 p.m.. Then I had lunch and afterwards I called a friend to talk with her about some homeworks and now I'm sitting here.

Because of the biology-test, the christmas-market at our school and because there will be so much stress again :(

    Re: Sorry for not posting...

    Mela - 04.12.2006, 20:27

I remember that I use to hate biology test. That was one of the worst
thing I knew in school. That and math.I wanted to call me sick everytime we had test in those two subjects.

    Re: Sorry for not posting...

It's not that bad with biology. Because I understood everything, but I fear I can't explain it with enough details.

You will do just fine - I always hated Math and Biology - especially the disceting frog part - ugh nasty - I barely made it out of both subjects.

    Don't think negative - think positive :)

did I tell you that Iīm gonna have fun going to IKEA?

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww - it was fun first. I was going there to get the new bed for my daughter ... so they had everything there (that was good), but we had to go to some other place to pick it up. We went there and we were for sure that we can put it up on the roof of the car, because those were the large parts of the bed ... well, we couldnīt take them home. So I asked the woman working there, if I can come and pick it up another day. I already paid for it, so I thought it might not be a problem... well, I thought ... but I was wrong "no, you need to come and pick it up today" - so we had a problem, because I didnīt know where to get another car. This co-worker of mine who was driving, phoned a friend who has a bigger car and this friend agreed to go with him to pick it up. So we had to go home first (like an hour drive) meet up with this friend and then he and my friend drove all the way back to IKEA to pick up this ONE part missing. Now Iīm waiting for them to come back ... my mom already took my kids with her to my sisterīs place (NIKOLAUS day) and so everybody is now waiting on me to show up - plus I have a BAD headache and my stomache is striking ... what a wonderful day !!! LOL itīs so bad that I already can laugh about it again ... LOL well, nothing worse can happen today! ... besides that I canīt stay online (because I have to go to my sisterīs)

yes, Iīll be online tomorrow until 19.15 pm - then I will have to go to my aerobic class ...

    To Mela:

we are not talking bad about IKEA  - just about the service. I still do love IKEA and I found a new desk for my living room - Iīm in love with it - but I have to save up first ...

I had too much champagne and maybe thatīs why I feel so bad about my daughter telling me that she already met my ex-husbandīs girlfriend, although we agreed that he wonīt make it happen for a looooooooong time. I donīt know what to do. Shall I ask him about it or shall I stay quiet? I know that will end up in a bad fight and I donīt know how he introduced her to my kids, but I know that I donīt like the fact ... I know her and I know that she didnīt raise her own two girls in a good way (means theyīve already had sex in a early age and sheīs always had other men while she was still married to her husband) - I donīt want her to be in contact with my girls. Also my daughter Milena (the older one) wouldnīt know how to handle it - she doesnīt want me to meet another man, so how would she be able to handle the fact that daddy already has another woman playing the leading role in his life - and not mom. She is not over the separation yet ... and for some reason it does hurt me! I donīt want it to hurt me, but it does. I imagine her spending time together with MY kids and itīs killing me - itīs hard enough to accept that she is number one in my ex-husbandīs life. Awwwwwwwwww - I hate it when I feel this way ... I donīt want it to happen, but there is nothing I can do about it ... as I said at the beginning: I had too much champagne!

    Awww.. it is pretty cute!

That is good that you are not talking bad about IKEA. You know Iam
from Sweden and IKEA is a Swedish company, so I felt that I have to stand up for them. Do they have meat-balls in the IKEA stores in Germany too??

I don't know what to say Anne  I would certainly be angry at your ex-husband for going against his word, but the confrontation could get nasty! I hope everything sorts itself out!

Iīm doing much better today without alcohol in my blood - LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL - Iīm not in that depressive mood anymore !!! There is nothing I can do about my ex-husbandīs gf - so I just donīt think about it and enjoy the time with my kids and try to get into my annual Christmas mood ... and who knows maybe one day I will start to date again and then I need to confrontate my kids with the new situation, too.

And of course they do have meat-balls at IKEA in Germany!!! And we had some yesterday !!! I love them - the kids love them ...
Iīm still wondering how long it will take me to build up the bed and the shelf for my daughter - thatīs another funny thing about IKEA! "Does it really look like the furniture on the picture? oh, damn it, I took the wrong one with me!" LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
