This thread will be dedicated to helping me convert my 2002 HD F-150 to German specs. Some of it I have already figured out. Other stuff I will need help or information. This way, there are not 20-30 different topics.
Today I found a place in the US (Tire Rack) that sells E.C.E. stadard tires. They even have the E1 code for Germany. They are Pirelli Scorpion STRs, and will at least get me license plates.

LIGHTS
My tail lights are the Lightning tail lights - no different. But I was told the bulbs inside had to be amber (orange). Is that true? It would still look red, wouldn't it?
My headlights are Sylvania Xenarcs. I was told they had to have the product code inside that started with "E" so it would be E.C.E. certified. Anyone know if Xenarcs are good? Or did I waste $350 on them. They look the SAME as stock Lightning headlights.

EXHAUST
I have a Magnaflow with all the catalytic converters to reduce bad exhaust stuff, but the mufflers are Silver Bullets, and somewhat loud (but sound good). What is the maximum decible level for exhaust? Or is that not checked?
Also have long tube headers that make it sound better also. But those should be okay, right?

Hi JP, mit den Amber (Orange) Birnen f. d. hinteren und vorderen Blinker hast Du recht, mit roten wirst Du die TÜV-Prüfung nicht bestehen. Bei dem Magnaflowauspuff kann ich Dir nächste Woche aus der Praxis berichten, denn ich habe den selben unter meinem L und muss damit zur TÜV-Prüfung. Ob die Prüfer was merken? Werden sehen. Bei den Reifen sollte es so lange keine Probleme geben, so lange die montierten auch im Fz.Brief eingetragen sind, wobei ich nicht weiss wie das bei dem amerikanischen Title ist.

Du solltest auf jeden Fall Deinen original Auspuff (muffler &tips + header ) mit nach Deutschland bringen :!:

Vielen Dank! Blinker Birnen werden gar kein Problem.
Aber leider ist meinen original Auspuff schon lange Zeit weg. Mindestens kann ich etwas ruhiges kaufen.

Ja also, das war mal wieder typisch deutscher TÜV: Zunächst einmal hat sich der Prüfer sehr lange mit meinem L. beschäftigt, wohl in erster Linie deshalb, weil er keine Ahnung hatte....
Wg. dem Auspuff(Magnaflow) sprach er mich an, da dieser wohl keine Ford Prüfnummer(!) :shock: aufwies. Ich erklärte ihm das es sich bei dem L. um keinen Pick up im herkömmlichen Sinne handelt. :twisted: Ich wies ihn auch auf die Bilstein Stossdämpfer hin, die ja auch keine Ford Prüfnummer aufweisen. Unser deutscher "TÜV-Spezialist" gab sich hiermit zufrieden und mein L. ist für die nächsten zwei Jahre aus dem Schneider... :D

This might sound like a dumb question, but for your isurance, are the Lightnings classified as PKV or LKV? If PKV, what do you all pay for insurance?
It's starting to look like transferring this truck is going to be more difficult than I thought.

No question is dumb, only the answers can be.....
Also, my Truck is a LKW, this means, low Tax Low insurance. The L is cheaper in insurance, with the highest i can get ( Vollkasko), then my two Company Van`s ( Ford Transit and VW Bus T4 )with only the minimum insurance ( Haftpflicht)! Believe me, it sound`s very difficult to transfer your Truck, but when you did all the work you have to do, you laugh about it. Because, you now, driving the Lightning bring`s allways a smile to your Face.
If you got more question, don`t hessitate to wright.

I'm worried a lot about the move, but I know it will be okay in the end. I forgot to mention that it is a Harley-Davidson F-150, but the motor is just about the same as the lightnings. My girlfriend there says that if the passenger area is longer than the bed space, then it will be a PKV, but that doesn't make sense to me.

I heard that the exhaust there cannot be louder than 95 dB.(A) by the Nahfeldmessmethode. What does that mean? I put in a new, much QUIETER Magnaflow muffler that sounds like stock Lightnings. If I can get it tested here, I can be sure I'm not wasting money!

your girlffriend got right. It is differnt from a Quadcab to a single Cab. Some rules dosn`t make sense, but......... If the Cabin ist shorter than the Bed the Truck is a LKW, otherwise is the Bed shorter it is a PKW.
Your right with th 95 db Mufflersound. But I think the Magnaflow is not louder, only the Sound is a little bit deeper, and only a little bit louder. And i guess the most TÜV Inspectors dont realize that your Magnaflow is not original.

Hi John,
one more thing in germany "making no sense" is that the TÜV inspections are different from city to city. I think there will be no problem to get your truck street legal with the Magnaflow, but if they want it quieter there will be ways to get it more quiet for a day..
