Mountains of Canada komplett mit Quellenangaben
    Mount Robson
Mount Robson is the highest mountain in the Canadian part of the Rockies. He is located in the Mount Robson in Provincial Park. Mount Robson got its name in 1915 from Colin Robertson an employer of the Hudson’s Bay Company. Other Official names are: Snow Cap Mountain, Yuh-hai-has-kun and the Mountain of the Spiral Road. There are no easy tours that go to the top of the mountain. So there is only a handful of climbers who reach the summit of Mount Robson. Every year Climbing is difficult because of the bad weather. You can see the south side of Mount Robson from the Yellowhead Highway.

Something about the Mount Robson Provincial Park:
Mount Robson Provincial Park lies in central British Columbia. It’s west of the border between British Columbia and Alberta. Mount Robson Provincial Park is the second oldest park in British Columbia and it is named after the highest mountain of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. As a part of the world’s cultural heritage this park is truly one of the crown jewels of the world.

    Mount Garibaldi
Mount Garibaldi is a 2.678 metre high layer volcano and part of the cascade chain belonging to British Columbia. The strong weathered summit complex rises 64 km north of Vancouver in Garibaldi Provincial Park. Garibaldi is the largest volcano in the Garibaldi Volcanic Belt and it is one of two high cascade chain mountains that completely consists of the volcano Dazit. (The other one is Gracier Peak). The mountain has a singular unsymmetrical appearance, because the main summit is piled up on a large glacier system that in the meantime melted. Garibaldi has three summits, the southern summit Atwell a pyramid – shaped summit, which was a source of many lava streams during the volcanic development. Dalton Dome is the northern summit and it is a little bit higher than Atwell. It was developed with the last outbreaks of Dazit and Columnar Peak.

    Mount Logan
The founder of the “Geological Survey of Canada”, Sir William Logan, supplied the name for the Mount Logan. An Indian name is not known. With 5.959m of height is Mount Logan in the Saint Elias Mountains is after Mount Mc Kinley in Alaska the second highest mountain of North America and the highest summit of Canada. Its first climbing was achieved in 1925. A Canadian group climbed under the direction of Albert Mc Carthy. At that time was the transportation of expedition equipment was a big problem, because it had to be brought there on dog sleds over 225 km away from Alaska. Until a few years ago Mount Logan was 6.050 m high. In 1992 the mountain was measured again and he was about 100 m smaller. Even if it is not counted to the six thousand metre mountains today, is Mount Logan without exaggeration a mountain of the superlative and it is probably the most enormous mountain massif of our
    planet.

It has a summit plateau of 20 km length in over 5.100 height.
The ice fields of the Saint Elias Mountains, which surround it, are the largest in the world outside the polar region.
Mount Logan lies north of 60 degree of latitude in the southwest corner of the Yukon Territory in Kluane National Park. Together with the Tatshenshini Provincial Park, the Glacier Bay National Monument and the Wrangell Saint Elias National Park is there the largest protected area of the Earth. On the map there is no other mountain with this height (expect the Mount Mc Kinley), that lies so far in the north.

    Climate of Mount Logan:
Extra ordinary are also the temperatures, which can fall even in the summer on under 40 degree. In the range of the ice fields prevail the whole year over winter conditions. On storms, icy temperatures, wind speeds of up to 260 km /h and violent snowfalls over several days have to be taken into account at any time. Because of the small thickness of the troposphere, it seems to be much higher than actual. In the near of the summit prevail therefore air conditions that you can find in Himalaya in the height of 7000 m. From these few data one can recognize already that Mount Logan belongs to the most remote, most inaccessible and coldest mountains in the world.

    Barbeau - Point
The Barbeau point (English Barbeau Peak) is with 2.616 m the highest mountain of the Canadian province Nunavut. Its summit lies on the Ellesmere Island. The first ascent succeeded 1967 to the British mountain climber Geoff Hattersley Smith. Only in 1981 there was the second climbing.1969 the mountain was designated after the Canadian anthropologist Charles Marius Barbeau. The Barbeau point is the highest summit of the North American continent, which lies east the Rocky Mountains.

    Mount Caubvick
Mount Caubvick is the highest peak in the mainland of Canada east of the Rockies. Although it has a relatively low elevation, it is a spectacular, massive peak that rises steeply from near sea level and features glaciers, steep cirques and craggy ridges. Extremely remote and difficult to access, there is no easy way to the summit. It is clearly one of the premiere peaks of eastern North America.
