    unidentified Aileron Trim
Found this some time ago on Sawbridgeworth airfield.
An aileron trim handle. so far aircraft type unidentified. I have shown this to several ex wartime pilots, some who have many types in their flying logbooks. No one has yet suggested what type of aircraft this is from. again, no stamps or marks.

    No stamp and marks ?
Maybe a item after wartime ?

Can you show a picture from the plate ?

On the actual winding handle in the first image I posted, there is a Circle with V 9 (the V being over the 9) there is a number 49139 13 DS1
On the actual casing there is too much corrosion and pitting that makes it impossible to find numbering or stamps.

have you managed to eliminate any types that flew from sawbridgeworth? The words look very English to me. i think American AC used Left and Right, not Port and Starboard

Although it was found on the airfield, I have a sneaking feeling that it may be post war. Another Item I found there is an undercarriage/ Flaps/feathering selection panel. One person once described that piece as of possible Vickers Viking appearance.
The airfield closed in 1946 but may have seen some aircraft dismantling in post war years, although no-one I know ,or have talked to, remembers any such activity taking place there.
Aircraft at Sawbridgeworth were Lysanders,Mustang 1's, Tomahawks,Spitfire, Typhoon, and Austers.
Unless the numbers I posted with the image clarify a type as listed above, then I am thinking the part was from a post war dismantled aircraft.
