Martin,
i dont think it can be a wheel spat. it looks like its made of steel, not aluminium as i would have thought the wheel spat would be.
dont think an aluminium BBQ would last long ;)
i think maybe its some sort of armour plate?. looks to be thick metal

@ raus
why do you think its a part of a aircraft? can you tell more about this "old metal" ?!

Paul,
i also had the thought about it being a seat. the problem is that i agree with Martin, it does look a bit like a wheel spat. its only what its made of that makes me think its not :???:

After doing some searching, i am going to offer a cautious congratulations to Martin !!.
i have found a photo, of what looks like the same thing, laying near a crashed B24. its near the nose and its rusty, just like the one posted here.
If its not from the nose wheeel, i would still say its part of a B24..
Raus?.
Cheers

Raus,
the photo i have shows a crashed B24. the plane is mostly complete apart fron the forward section. the part you have is visible there. it lies just in front of the rest of the wreckage.
for that reason i would guess that this seat could from the nose turret of a B24. i dont think there were any armoured seats like this on the B17.
i will try to get permission to post the photo if you would like to see it?.

Roy

If it's a seat maybe I'm still a winner?
Made this picture of a B-24 seat in the ARG 40-45 Museum.

i cannot find where i got the photo from so i am going to post it. if anyone knows what site this is from please let me know, so i can put a proper ackowledgment for it..
i have marked in red, the piece that looks the same as the seat. its not clear enough to see up close but the shape looks right to me.

My "barbecue" now have a name. It´s a B-24. We have finally found a crash site but also a litter of vipers and then we have run away.
On one of four parts that we have found was number GK32P...

oi!
Finally, I think that we have found what tipe of seat is "barbecue".
My friend found that barbecue is identical to seat of MC-202/205 and that is very possible because somewhere in that area crashed two MC-202.

Also we was on B-24 crash site and we found some pieces.
