    Tattoos
On February 14th Iīll get my new tattoo !!!

Me and my friend Maik (lol-German version of Mike) went to the tattoo-shop today and heīll get another one as well. Robert, the guy whoīs gonna do his tattoo, did a great job drawing the "tattoo" on his arm first. Itīs gonna be a huge on !!! Mine will only be a small one. It will be like 50,00 Euro which is not to bad. I still donīt know what to get - it might be a small medicine-wheel, but hopefully a friend of mine, who has a tattoo shop in the States (heīs Native American) will make it to send me his idea !!! That would be great. I was thinking of getting this tattoo for years now and when my friend asked me to come with him I just decided to get it done now ... lol

cool! I was thinking about getting myself a tattoo, too, in the last days but I fear I'm too scared lol

    Re: Tattoos

    newnativspirit - 25.01.2007, 21:45

there is nothing to be scared of

    Re: Tattoos

    Idril - 25.01.2007, 21:49

I know. But... well... It's something you can't put off your body or that will grow out of your body. It stays there forever. So what will I do when I got myself a tattoo and don't like it anymore after a few years? That's what I'm scared off. Not the pain you probably feel during making the tattoo, but the fact that you can't put it off like some clothing. :?

    Re: Tattoos

then thing about where to get it. I got mine where the skin wonīt get old ... and the other one will be on my ancle where I can hide it as well ... but I donīt want to hide them, because Iīm proud of them ... still ... although the "old" needs to be changed a bit - lol. Awwwwww I still got a lot of skin to offer !!! Thinking about getting some more at some very special places ...

It's cool  Well, if I should ever get myself a tatoo, you will be the first one to know

I don't think I'll ever get a tattoo, but if I do it'll be something small on my ankle or something. I liked the idea of the cast of the LOTR fellowship all getting tattoos of the Elvish symbol for nine.

    Yeah, that was cool

I'd thought about it but am a little scared. My ex had several and one of them he didn't like - so the guy went over it and made a really neat ying yang with a dragon. You can cover them up if you get tired of them or have them removed but that's painful from what I've heard.

awww now you scared me even more

if you got one and later on didn't like it - you could have it made into something else. His was the same of a city - Portland so the guy who did the cover up - used that tattoo as the dragons tail and then added the rest. Too him about 5 hours - the second one he had done took about 8.

It took me a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time to make my decision - first I wanted to get my little dreamcatcher which I have for good luck, but then I thought that too many people already do have a dreamcatcher tattoo ... now my friend Eddie, who does tattoos by himself, promised to think about a tattoo for me. But if he doesnīt I thought about getting something like this:

Also with that type of tattoo say if you ever got tired of it - it would be easy to make it something else. A friend of mine for her 40th b-day got a rose and leaves tattooed on her back at her waste line - said she always wanted one and her hubby got her one.

    i love crosses
they represent God ,His Son and the choices they made to save others and ofcourse Jesus suffering with making those choices and ended up at the cross cause of our sins and went through a lot on his way to the cross ,but he did it for God and for all the ppl ,he would nto abandon them ,allthough they had abandon him ,he and God had given us a second change

The cross stands for the Christian Religion and as you all know, I have not such a good opinion of it ... well, I guess, thatīs why I donīt like crosses. I have two little crosses for my girls ... but thatīs about it.

    Re: Tattoos

    mystere - 03.02.2007, 17:34

I have two tattoos. Just a thought to remember....the more detailed you want the tattoo the larger they will need to make it....otherwise it will look like an ink blob. Also, for me I didnt want to just go in and pick something off the wall. I wanted it to have special meaning for me....like tell a story.......a totem I guess you could say. A lot of people just choice a cutesy picture. First of all there is pain involved, anyone who tells you different isnt being entirely truthful, and it is a pricey decision. So I think it should be something more than "I thought it was cute." Thats just me though. Here in America tattoos can be very expensive. Each of mine were around 150 american dollars. I have a friend who had a cheetah and cubs done and it was much more........about 300 american dollars. Thats a lot. So thats why I say it should be something with meaning. Now those are prices here in little country alabama....places like new york and california I am sure are more expensive.
Good luck with your design Anne, its different and neat. What does it mean?

Itīs a medicine wheel with the four sacred colours and the four sacred directions - I believe in the meaning of the medicine wheel and I believe that the tattoo will bring me good luck ... itīs just how I feel about it - plus with this I want to show my respect towards NA culture - not to other people, but to remind myself of it each day. Does this sound crazy?

    Re: Tattoos

    newnativspirit - 03.02.2007, 18:29

no....it doesn't sound crazy at all. If it has meaning to you then that's all that counts.
I know people who have gotten butterflies and frogs and so forth. When I ask them why,.........cuz they are cute. Wow! They look like sticker books. Anyway, I just think things should have meaning. My friend chose the cheetah and the cubs because the female cheatah is a sole survivor. Once the male mates with her he is gone...and she is on her on to raise the young.........teaching them to hunt and at the same time providing protection from other big cats. This is the story of my friends road to motherhood. She was left to raise her kids. Her and her only. She is not only raising them, but she has gotten herself out of the ghettos of America and gotten a good job. She was determined and didn't have to ask her mom or family for nothing. Her boyfriend is incarcerated. The story is long and complicated but she is now doing it on her own. She decided to get inked to remind herself of this struggle. Many ppl say why dont you just get a painting done. It's not the same. I think a tattoo is more of a turning point in your life....like a reawakening.

I have two tattoos. I have a band around my left ankle which is joined by my name ....the band is three leafed clovers....I am of Irish decent. My name is written in old english handwriting which I think is very elegant but also hard to recognize at first. That is a bit of my character. I have been through some things in my childhood and well I am still living. I am very fortunate. So the old english description is how I see myself. I am girly and can be elegant ...but it is not what you see first. I exhibit kind of a stand off/defensive attitude until I get to know a person. Also my name was given to me by my father. He spelled it the way he did because he wanted it to be different from the normal. My father died before I finished college. It is sort of a memorial to him.
My other tattoo (on my left outside lower calf) is of a dreamkeeper (lolol) but it has a cougar or mountain lion bursting from it. I am a cat person. I love cats! The mountain lion is a wild cat native to america. It is a survivor doing what it must to survive. Again like me, the tattoo is saying yes I have been through some things and I was able to overcome it. No matter what I am who I am. So like the mountain lion, I can't and won't be held back. The dreamkeeper is a well-known symbol for catching the bad and letting the good through. So my tattoo basically says that....yes there have been bad things in my life...........but I survived and I am going to survive....thus the cat gettin through.

Yes I know I put A LOT of thought in them. It took me months to decide and I went in with my own design.
Mine can be hidden. When I am at work I keep them hidden as much as possible. It's not that I can't have them.......but my students tend to put a lot of focus and attention on it when they see them. So I have to get them back on task.

aw don't say you are not talented - we all have our talents just some of them are not brought out like others.

Just got back from Klobes Japanese House - now I'm ready for a nap. Wish this cold weather would go away. I'm so tired of being in the deep freeze.

Iīm not gonna get my tattoo tomorrow ! I cancelled the appointment, because I didnīt get so many more important things done since my kids got sick ... so I told them, that Iīll get in touch when I got a little more time left for that - plus I donīt have the money right now ... the week-end I couldnīt go to work will be missing in my wallet ... and thatīs like 300 Euro!

    Re: Tattoos

    newnativspirit - 13.02.2007, 16:28

Donīt get me wrong! The tattoo will be like 70 USD as well, but the money I would have made working that week-end would have been like 300 Euro and thatīs about 390 USD - thatīs just because I get 70% extra money on the Sunday ... and because I had to stay at home last week-end that money will be missing at the end of the month. Thatīs why I wonīt spent any money on the tattoo now - not as long as I donīt know how much I will have to pay for the holy communion of my daughter. Thatīs coming up in April and the film festival is in March - so I really need to save up a little bit - plus I donīt know, if I will still be working for that company in April - so March might be the last time Iīll get money ... damn, that sounds bad :(

I know what you mean - I was hoping to get a computer for home with the refund but I won't be. The total I owe is $746.00 $253 to the State and $493 to the Federal - by April 15th. Also if I have to make payment arrangements the interest and penalities will be bad.

I feel deep down you'll still be with that company in April. Think positive.

They had a meeting yesterday to decide whatīs gonna happen with us. We are called the "Kontis". lol I was talking to the workersīcouncil (is that the right expression?) last week-end and explained my situation to them. As soon as they know what will be, theyīll help me with the paperwork to apply for a "four-day-job". They are thinking about a new shift system and I hope that will work out for me. I donīt want to give up my sports classes, but right now it looks like I will have to, if I want to keep this job. All this is on my mind every single day and I really try to calm down a bit, but itīs a priority in my life. If they fire me, I will have lots of problems and I really donīt need that. I deserve a break - I donīt mind working in a factory, although itīs really not what I want to do, but itīs good money and as long as NNS isnīt that successful, I need to have a sure and safe income. They already told me that it seems that a few of us will get another contract, but yet they canīt tell any names ... I hope theyīll make a decision pretty soon, so I`ll know if I can count that money in for another few months.

They need to make one soon because those who they won't be keeping need to be able to secure other employment.

    Re: Tattoos

    newnativspirit - 13.02.2007, 18:39

LOL - they donīt care about that - LOL thatīs why they do only offer those part-time contracts - LOL

In Germany itīs law that you have to go to the "Arbeitsamt" (job center) 3 month before your contract is ending. Itīs even written down in the contract. Iīve been there already and they felt so sorry that they canīt help me with another job. Iīm not qualified, because I was only helping my ex in the office and took care of kids in the past 10 years !!! Now that I still do have two kids under 15, itīs not easy to find another job. And when I will apply for social welfare (which I will have to do then), they will ask me to find me a part-time job - LOL - thatīs typical German !!! If I would have been working 4 more months for the company I would get unemployment benefit - you have to been working for a year and paying your unemployment insurance to receive that money and these 4 months are still missing for me to be able to apply for it. Ainīt this crazy?

    Re: Tattoos

That system sounds very complex. Over here you can claim unemployment benefits 2 weeks after leaving a job, but they do nag you constantly about looking for work.

You are talking a lot about tattoos.. so I want to show mine!!!

I already got one tattoo which I designed on my own:

I'm also planning on a new tattoo. And have a picture on my mind. I had already a meeting with the artist and made some appointments for next year. All in one it would cost 600 Euros - a lot of money. I was willing to pay for a real piece of art. But then I heard that my internship would be next year in York so I chose to reschedule the appointments for 2009. Then they told me that from 2009 on the take 100 euros per hour so I would have to pay 300 Euros more than 2008. That's too much for me at the moment so I decided to look for a new artist. in December there is a tattoo convention in Berlin. Maybe I'll find the right one there. But noone of my friends wants to join me - they all are afraid of needles

    Re: Tattoos

    enelya06 - 14.10.2007, 19:28

    that's a cool tattoo

    Re: Tattoos

    mystere - 14.10.2007, 23:05

Well not to sound mommyish, but you really need to be sure you REALLY want it. Because like you said, it is basically with you forever. I have two and I love 'em. I have always wanted another one, but they are expensive, especially if they are done by a reputable parlor. I can't spend that kind of money now because there are other things I need to do. I will later on though.
But, if you really want one, you will not want to be without it.
    M

    Re: Tattoos

    enelya06 - 14.10.2007, 23:17

I just hate needles of any kind. I've friends that when they turned 40 they had tattoos but I just can't bring myself to do it. I remember when I got my ears pierced for the 2nd time my granny told me "Haven't you got enough holes without adding two more" She was a card. I just don't think I could sit through one no matter now small.

    Re: Tattoos

    Liadan - 15.10.2007, 08:12

I really want it. I was thinking about it about a year and still want it really hard.

Strange to say that I'm more scared of piecings than tattoos. A few years ago I got my ears pierced for the first time and I hated it. Noe I love the earrings I wear but won't get another piercing for sure^^.

    Re: Tattoos

    eddiefever - 15.10.2007, 10:30

    i'm afraid of piercings
    and Love tattoo's
i have 2 of my own & would love to have more ,but my folks get furious when i even mention the word 'tattoo' ,while my father arms are full of them (but he probebly regrets them ,although he never said that :P )

Liadan ,i really like your tatoo. it's unique & looks so beautifull
i have had my second one put ton at a NeedleArt convention as wel
i'd have to say ,if you are not comfortable around "rockers or gothics" (if your not one yourself  ,than don't go alone ,cause the place will be packed

(PS: don't forget the "..." symbols ,cause i don't like it when they putt ppl in 'boxes' like that )

    Re: Tattoos

    Liadan - 15.10.2007, 15:17

    Thx!.
no, I'm not afraid of them^^. I'm goth-punk-rocker by heart though I don't look like that. I know what you men concerning these "boxes". Every one should live like he/she wants to and I don't judge them for that. I like to be an individual myself^^.

    Re: Tattoos

    eddiefever - 16.10.2007, 22:43

    exactly !!!

i believe in God & am nto afraid fo saying ti
but i've noticed once i do ,many ppl see me different
like the 'youngsters' think i'm Nuts
and the 'oldies' respect me more now they know about it
    which isn't right
    "i am who i am. that's it" ~ Quote by LBC :D

it shouldn't make a difference if you are religious ,like your own kind of music ,or love to wear certain(?) cloths

    Re: Tattoos

    Liadan - 17.10.2007, 07:43

I'm not religious too. Well, depends on how it is defined. I'm no atheist. I believe that there an almighty power behind everything but I don't call him names. I really like the pagan - "thing". If it was a religion I think I would join that.^^
But it's not important to me what belief anybody has. I've got christian friends, islamic friends, jewish friends and pagan friends. and we all get along very well. It's all about R-E-S-P-E-C-T! :)

    Re: Tattoos

    enelya06 - 17.10.2007, 14:33

Yes it's all about "RESPECT"! Like Eddiefever I believe in God/the Creator, and I also have many friends of different faiths and we all get along great too. When I was young I heard an evanglist say that "religion is not going to save you, what's in your "HEART", is going to save you." I will say had it not been for my muselum students who explained that religion to me when 9/11 occurred - I would have been in bad shape.
I'm lucky that I get to work around and with people of different cultures and religions - wish the world could get along like we all do.

    i'll get the post
    1 sec

last Thursday a teenage boy age 14 Killed his 16 year old Fellow student just outside the schoolground with a knife

it was on the news & i had to try hard to keep my food in the right place
they showed the place where it happend ,which was full of blood & there was a yellow ribbin from the police
behind it everyone from the school had formed & mourned the loss of their fellow student

the reason of the "fight" (not sure if it was a fight or just payback ,police is still researching that) was that the day before the 16 y/o male student had trown a pen at the Killer

because of the hours between the 2 incidents ,the death of the victom will be seen as Murder ,not man slaughter(for now) untill proven that the Killer didn't pre-arranged it

where is this world comming to
this boy will never be able to get his driverslicence ,a wife ,children, a future
his family & friends will mourn and miss him for the rest of their lives ,not able to see him grow up & make something out of his life

all this will not happen cause of a PEN

and the sad thing is that the Killer will (probbely) be convicted as a juvinile(?) ,cause of his age

in the past ,judges have convicted juvinies(?) as grown ups before ,cause of the way the victom got Murdered
i hope that this will happen in this case as wel & hopefully others will learn that killing will not be accepted & will be punnished hard

my heart goes out to the family ,friends & teachers of the victom
specially to 1 teacher in paticulair. this man went in the ambulance with him & was there when his student died
i hope he will get help with overcomming this tragedy

you would thinkt hat ppl woudl learn from this ,but instead
something similair occured 1 day later
thankfully the victom(?) didn't die ,but that doesn't make things right

the killing has been on the news & in papers, yet still some crazy kid decides instead "of breaking the chain" to followed the example

i know that in some countries this happends daily ,but it never has been so bad as it is nowadays in "my" country

Yes it happens a lot in the US. One of my co-workers daughters went to a funeral today for a friend whose father shot her last week. He is in jail for muder - she was 23 - and anymore it seems like every night someone has been shot and killed or just shot. There was an incident last week were a student opened fire on his school because he was asked to attend an alternative school for people with problems. Thankfully no one died but him. But what a waste.

It's a very sad world we live in and it's all over.

It reminds me on/of (what do I have to use here? I always use the wring word... :? ) what happened in London. Or what's still happening there. Children killing each other for no reason. :?

    i agree Idril
for me it remidns me of that 1 school in the US
where the kid wanted to kill every member of the school
unfortunatly there are more children who think that it's a good idea
    and follow the example
it even happend in Germany ( right Idril ,Anne & Liadan :?: )

    Re: Tattoos

    Idril - 18.10.2007, 20:31

Quote: it even happend in Germany ( right Idril ,Anne & Liadan Frage ) Yeah. It was in Erfurt few years ago. A student attacked other students during a-level exams. I was a little scared because I had to do the A - level one year after.
Sadly it becomes more and more easier for kids to get guns.

    eddiefever - 19.10.2007, 20:33

yeah ,i was getting worried as wel
cause this time ( the one from Erfurt) it was so close to 'home'
