a n00b-friendly game, requires less skill compared to melee
anyway
stupid allstars, crediting switch for his quill spray idea, it's just a modify fan of knives -_-;

Quote: a n00b-friendly game, requires less skill compared to melee - Yes, DotA:A is a noob-friendly game, but it can also prove to be a very challenging game among the more active and experienced players. But again, yes, it does require less skill to play than melee, but this game requires some new kinds of skills. Instead of being sick at microing, quick building and army buildup, you have to plan your strikes, counter your enemy with the right items, coordinate the items with your teammates, and most of all, timing is crucial.
Quote: stupid allstars, crediting switch for his quill spray idea, it's just a modify fan of knives -_-; - But still, it's a modification, and if it was his idea, then he deserves credit for it, doesn't he?
Lastly, why did you make this post anyway? ^^

A very good question. *g*

1) DotA is not noob-friendly by custom map standards. SL is much more noob-friendly IMHO. Is that supposed to be a bad thing? Chess is noob-friendly; anyone can learn to just play it in under half an hour.
2) Bristleback's new Quill Spray may be a modified Fan of Knives, but it has been modified in quite a novel way (stack damage for successive casts, automatically goes off when you receive a strong attack from behind) IMHO.
3) I also wonder why you posted this. :P

OMG what do u expect from SL this is just one of the first versions dota has allready like 600 versions . SL will get better then this .... just for the record i like dota.
Re: DotA:Allstars
Davis - 05.08.2006, 03:49Yes
I agreed. Dota is lame. many times i went to play i was get yell at cuz all the rude people blame all the defeat on my fault. lmao
SL all the way ...Dota suck ass *it's not opinion...it's fact*
Re: DotA:Allstars
Black_Mage - 05.08.2006, 23:26
Hehe take it easy davis. Dota isn\t that bad ,i mean u cant hate the game cozof the players i know that kind of ppl they think they are pros and after the humiliating defet they blame other ppl so they still be "PROS". ;)
Re: DotA:Allstars
Davis - 06.08.2006, 03:56
wow that is what i was thinking .....anyway people in dota are just rude..no one can change my mind about that
Re: DotA:Allstars
Black_Mage - 06.08.2006, 13:17
Not all of them but most of them yea ... :)
Re: DotA:Allstars
tegeus-Cromis - 06.08.2006, 18:10
Well Davis, it can be pretty frustrating to lose because one or two noobs kept feeding the other team. SL is only different because it's a new map, so most players know they can't expect their teammates to know how to play it properly.
Re: DotA:Allstars
Black_Mage - 07.08.2006, 00:08
You got a point there , but most players who play dota when they play SL for the first time will fit in. Exept for some noobs , so if this map is new it doesnt mean that all your teammates are noobs coz i ve seen good players playing for 2nd or 3rd time.
Re: DotA:Allstars
tegeus-Cromis - 07.08.2006, 00:47
Yeah, sure. The point I'm making is that it isn't the case that DotA players are rude to noobs because 'DotA sucks, full-stop'; the reason is that it's been around for long enough and played seriously enough that people have come to expect a certain level of competence even in pubs (relative to most custom maps). This isn't the case in SL, where enthusiasts will expect people to be unfamiliar with the map (not to mention not wanting to scare them off it).

Black_Mage - 07.08.2006, 00:52
Hmmmm the problem in datoa is : the game is old enough to have thousands of fans and they are taking the game TO seriously! they forget the fact "Fun".
Re: DotA:Allstars
tegeus-Cromis - 07.08.2006, 11:37
As far as I'm concerned, the problem is that noobs still want to join games with 'no noobs' and 'pros' in the game name.
Re: DotA:Allstars
Black_Mage - 07.08.2006, 13:05
Aham so it looks like u are MASTER of dota... So if the noobs cant join a pro game how the hell they ll learn to play????
Re: DotA:Allstars
tegeus-Cromis - 07.08.2006, 15:05
They can join a game that does not have 'no noobs' or 'pros' in the game name. Duh.
Re: DotA:Allstars
Black_Mage - 07.08.2006, 15:53
LoooL in the "PROS" games arent all pros . ppl join there if they think they self as a pro and even if they are not the ll still join that game.

Wow, I wonder what my earlier post said? Let's see: Quote: As far as I'm concerned, the problem is that noobs still want to join games with 'no noobs' and 'pros' in the game name.
In other words, you are agreeing with me.

Black_Mage - 07.08.2006, 22:16
WoW when i read my post for the 2nd time i realize that it isnt suposed to sound like that :D i wanted to say that even in the PROS games the pros arent pros :D i know what i mean :D
Re: DotA:Allstars
tegeus-Cromis - 08.08.2006, 15:40
'Pro' in public games = 'doesn't suck.' Point stands: if noobs would just stay out of 'pro' and 'no noob' games, they would get shouted at a lot less often.

You know what??..... This Subject went in very wrong direction . Read the posts the first ones and this posts and make a difference...
Re: DotA:Allstars

1) It's the nature of any discussion to branch out in different directions as it goes on.
2) The original post read: Quote: a n00b-friendly game, requires less skill compared to melee
anyway

Since what we've been talking about has to do with the noob-friendliness of DotA, I don't see how it could possibly be considered off-topic even on a high-traffic, hypermoderated forum, which this isn't.
ggnorekthx.
Re: DotA:Allstars
Omerta - 08.08.2006, 23:52
Discussion didn't go off-topic before the two posts that talked about off-topic.
Imo, how noob friendly Dota: Allstars is depends on the player himself. If player has some common sense and is smart enough to learn from what others do, he should become not-noob or even average fairly quick.
I don't like playing DotA in publics, as your teammates are more likely interested in their own kill score (and your death score :L) than winning as team. Might be more entertaining with experienced players playing CvC for example, but, bleh.
Re: DotA:Allstars
tegeus-Cromis - 09.08.2006, 08:56
Yeah, people care far too much about the kill ratio. The funny thing is that on the rare occasions when one team effectively uses a 'non-selfish' combo (Blackhole + Freezing Field, for example), the other team often claims it's 'gay' and leaves. . . . Inhouse games are much more fun, of course.
Re: DotA:Allstars
Black_Mage - 09.08.2006, 12:38
About the kills ratio they dont like it, they live for it even with the most team hero they want to OWN and they cant ...... are they PROS ??!?!?!?? !?!?!?!?! ?!??!??!?!?!??!?
