    new unidentified P51 F-6D parts
    Hi all,

here some just found unidentified parts of an F-6D. All these parts have been found together in a very little space in the ground and could come from the same place in the plane (?)

    - the glass fragments, clear as crystal, could come from the gunsight? Are there other parts of thick glass on the Mustang?

    - The white little part left is inside iron and outside porcelaine (isolator?)

    - the three metal parts on the top are the same, made of inox metal

    - the little rectangular parts look like paper, but are a kind of plastic; parts of a filter?

    - the part over left is composed of two parts: the bolt is made of coper (yellow letal) and the other one (getting inside of it) is partly of inox, partly of "normal" iron.

    could someone help?

The three half circular parts are from the engine. Have to go over the manual though...

    Regards,

    Paul

The part list say, the front glass is the only "armor glass"

This could be from the antenna

I think Paul is right, this are locking plates

No, this are the remains of the batterie cells

I think this bold comes from the radiator. I think some of copper bolds on this assembly was used here

Thanks a lot, Pathfinder and Paul,

The battery on crash site "exploded" and I have found pieces of it on a distance of more than 100 meters! The three inox parts were found mixed with lot of these battery little "papers". It could belong to the battery?

The grease used by the USAAF was of a very good quality; both bolts on this picture are still able to turn, and the grease on it is still "working" without having cleaned them!

About the glass in the Mustang, was the canopy made of plexiglas or glass(?).

Other parts found last week come in the following days. It now seems that some parts of the Mustang have been projected at a distance of more than 150 meters of the initial impact on the threes.

    Thanks for your kindly help;

    Mathias

    Mathias,

Armored glass of the windscreen was also found by me in Luxembourg. The cockpit canopy was made of plexiglas.

    regards,

    Paul

The big brass nut is from one of the cilinderheads.
