Interview with Schweizer Gothic Lolita Community
Hello, my name is Federica, I'm studying Costume Design Techniques at the University here in Italy, precisely in Rimini. Object of my thesis is "the web forum seen as a medium of communication and knowledge of the G&L universe throughout Italy and Europe". I kindly request you to help my research by answering some simple questions. Your help is really appreciated.

    - Introducing yourself (age, town, studies/work, personal interests and hobbies)
    - Wearing G&L: what does it mean to you?
    - Why did you choose to wear G&L?
    - Do you exclusively wear G&L or does it happen just occasionally? (Please specify your answer)
    - Where do you find G&L clothing and accessories?
    - How did you run into the G&L universe?
    - Is the web forum an important element in your research? Do you think it is useful for G&L commercial and artistic diffusion?

    - Introducing yourself (age, town, studies/work, personal interests and hobbies)

I'm 18 years old, live in Bern and I'm still a student. My interests/hobbies beside G&L are drawing, reading, manga, webdesign, music, shooting (by assault riffle), ski

    - Wearing G&L: what does it mean to you?

It makes me feel really pretty and I'm specially happy to have met some really wonderful and interesting people through G&L. But actually G&L is only a fashion to me not a lifestyle. I think it's just lucky coincidence I met those people through G&L. Because since it's not actually a lifestyle and just fashion there are so many totally different people who only share their interest for G&L. If it'd be an actual lifestyle (for everyone of us) we all would share more than just our interest for an extraordinary fashion. Or at least I guess so.

    - Why did you choose to wear G&L?

Well if you see something that really pleases your eyes it's normal you want to try it too, isn't it.

    - Do you exclusively wear G&L or does it happen just occasionally? (Please specify your answer)

To wear it exclusively would be quite impractical while biking to school ;) Also I would have to get up earlier and always take good care of my clothes. Not to mention the cold weather during winter time. But I also think it'd be a waste of those gorgeous clothes to just have them hanging in my closet so I wear them sometimes for some random shopping or also for school. And of course I often wear them when meeting up with another lolita.

    - Where do you find G&L clothing and accessories?

Internet is your best friend. Concerning the dresses, I get them second hand through either Closet Child or egl_comm_sales or I buy them through a shopping service directly from the brands. The third option is to commission them which I did once till now but I'm planing to do this more often since it's really comfortable. For the accessories I buy them at Claire's, H&M, Orsay (guess you get the idea)

    - How did you run into the G&L universe?

During my neopets.com phase a friend from my guild happened to tell me about (ita) G&L. It caught my interest and so I did some research (still having a totally wrong idea about G&L in my mind). But through a lot of passive reading in the German Animexx G&L circle I succeeded in correcting that horrible (ita) idea.

    - Is the web forum an important element in your research? Do you think it is useful for G&L commercial and artistic diffusion?

Of course. It's the most important element by far.
