Hi All,
As I just reregistered on a Dutch WW2 detecting site (http://www.bodem-vondsten.nl/) one of the members posted these pictures. It's believed they're from an a/c but what type? All help is welcome !

As the inspector's stamp isn't clear it is hard to tell but it looks ike SHB followed by three digits.
If it is that then it was made by Short, probably Stirling.

Or SBH (Short Brothers & Harland)?
In the meantime I asked on the other forum for the stamp.

According to information the stamp says SHB55B or 8....
Stirling in this case?

Paul,
on some Stirling I crash sites I have found inspector stamps with SHB.
The part numbers of Short Stirling I begin with 329, but the digits in the oval or round inspector stamps are not to confound with the first three digits of the Stirling part numbers

Nils

PS: "SHB" means "Short & Harland Belfast".
the number of the stamps from SHB have at most three digits behind the "SHB".

The writing appears to be "ON Wing Cell Fuel Tanks and the word Port.
The operating lever doesnt appear to be correct type for the Stirling going by the pilots notes for Stirling I,III, and IV??

it is for a Stirling. They carried auxilliary fuel tanks in the wing bomb cells and this is the `post production` selector for stirlings needing extended range.

It is one of a pair of selector controls for a Mk 4 short stirling for the exra fuel tanks in the wing bomb cells. It attached to to rear wing spar on the floor and is operated by the Flight Engineer.
