    B17 or P47 part?
    Hi,

One friend of mine found that part on his village in Lorraine, France; it could come from one P47 or one B17 that crashed during WWII.

On the part are the following numbers and text:

    Y313
    66 52107-D

and in a circle GB 3-2

    The diameter is 37cm.

    Could someone help?

    Thanks. Flyingkag

    Hi,

I'm afraid that this is a special part with the part number from manutfacturer. In my database I found some numbers beginning with
6652: 665263-1. On this number are from Honeywell :n66:

Take a look about the number 6652107-D, this could be a Patent number:

    http://www.freepatentsonline.com/6652107.html?query=PN%2F6652107+OR+6652107&stemming=on

    P-47 part numbers begin with 89, 93, 96, or 101

If you have more parts from this crash site, let us know !

    Regards
    Nils

    Thanks, Nils

Do you think the part comes from an aircraft? What could it be? It was found in a farm, and it's not totaly sure it comes from one of the planes...

    Thanks for your answer.

Hello there, new to the forum after lots ofinterested viewings! This piece looks like the impellor disc from the turbocharger. Unusual to see it without the casing. Don't know if B17s/P47s had different turbos though.

    Hi all.
Anybody got a exploded veiw of the turbo charger as I am sure this peice can be ID from a picture.
Mathias remove the casterlated nuts and clean because there will be manufacture stamp on them as they will be high spec if off a aircraft. Also no sign of wire being used to lock all the nuts together for vibration,on closer inspection looks like they would have had split pins fitted so possable off farm machinerary.
    Hope this helps to ID.
    regards Martin

Here is the best picture I could find. How wide is the impellor disc?

So that didn't work. I google imaged p47 Supercharger and got a reasonable cut away view.

    Hi Ian, welcome.
i agree the bottom disc does look like a turbine from a turbo super charger.
i dont know if the P47 turbo is the same as the ones on a B17
below is a P47 turbo diagram.

Mathias, is it possible the stamp is GE and not GB?. all US turbos in WW2 were made by General Electric

    Hi Roy and everybody.
Looking at the picture now I would agree with Roy :n108: and looking at the part number close up I would say it had to be GE.
Wishing everyone on this great site a MERRY CHRISTMAS
    Best regards to all.

    Hi all,

thank you very much for your answers and explainations.

I'm sorry but both letters are GB and not GE (see attachment).

The possible planes were P47 or B17. The B17 made a belly landing, but the P47 exploded at crash, so it's probale that all parts of it were hit or exploded.

If it is from one of these planes it could better come from the B17 according their histories.

    Thanks for your help!

    Merry Christmas!

    Mathias
