    Browning M2 parts
here some parts of the Brownings M2 of the F-6D I found; the serial number on the cover part (other part) allowed to identify the plane as the one of Lt Leo F Skenyon, 162nd TRS, crashed November 25th 1944.

here the Gun cover part, with serial; the number is corresponding with te weapons listed in MACR; it comes from the Right Outside Bay (ROB)

    Mathias,

Was LT Skenyon able to bail out? Do you have the plane's serial number?

    Regards,

Lt Skenyon couldn't bail out , and was ejected out of the cockpit when the plane touched the trees. His body was found totaly intact, 50 meters away from the plane, with parachute closed on the deck. He had no injuries before the crash (was not touched in airfight)

The plane was 44-14036; I have compiled a very big documentation about his last flight The MACR gives not the real story of his end (he flow 50 km western of his official MIA place, and encounterd 3 differents german fighters formations before being shot down.

A witness from this Wartime said that the Mustang was spiting white smoke as he crashed in the mountains, the motor had apparently problems.

    Merci Mathias !

Did you order his IDPF as well? This maybe might give some additional information.
Ordering the IDPF in the case of the Feb 23 1945 crash in my village of 2LT Richard W. Taylor (363FS/375FG) in 44-14768 (which I'm researching for years now) it helped !

    Yes, Paul,

I have the IDPF, the historical of the 162nd, the OPREPS of that day...and witnesses of the crash.

I found the family of the german fighter who shot him down; very interestning!

i'm very interested for identifying the direction of the crash, and that's why I try to identify the parts that the plane loose at first when hitting the trees.

The plane came from the west as he touched the forest, but his last flight was from est to west; he tried to turn around a montain and touched the forest. I think he thought he could fly over the hill and that's why he didn't bail out.

    Thanks for all your help.

    Mathias
