    who can identify this object?
    Dear readers,

I am new here so I hope I do this well?
13 to 14 July 1943 Halifax DK142 ZL-C took off at 23.14 hrs from Leeming and was part of a group of 374 bombers that were on a mission to Aachen.
The Halifax crashed along the river Waal near the village of Dreumel, Netherlands. (the full story can be read at: http://www.tremele.nl/english/crashes/e_dreumel14071943/e_dreumel14071943.htm )

Last week we found a part of this plane. Who can help us out identifying it?

Your help will be much appreciated.

    with kind regards,

    Jos van Koolwijk

    Jos,

on the marked part you can may find a number or a small stamp, a stamp most in a circle. You can may find it on the outside of this part.

At first you should clean the part under hot water. After this you can use the cleaner "Cilit Bang" (here in Germany I can buy it in every store). It´s a cleare for the household, may you know it ?
After five to ten minutes you must clean it again under hot water. Then the aluminium looks better

    Nils

Necro thread alert! I think it's a two way valve for opening and closing an actuator of some kind, maybe even a bomb door or even for raising/lowering undercarriage.
