Dear Rescreatu,
First I would like to welcome every one of you back. We’ve been down for just about 3 weeks. I would like to personally apologize for this downtime and the lack of explanation. We hope you will all forgive us and join us again for a great time. Now let me explain.
On September 7th, Rescreatu was “hacked”. This was not an attack that we could have been prepared for because the attack came from a staff member of Rescreatu. I can’t go into great detail, but what happened was completely unexpected and unwarranted. Our files remained safe; however our database was completely destroyed. This means that all player data was gone.
Naturally, we didn’t think it was going to be a big deal because we take daily backups of Rescreatu. During the day following the hack we spent our time investigating and finding out what options we had. Unfortunately, this event was much more disastrous than we could have imagined. Upon investigation, our backup server was also hacked. At this time we hired an independent data recovery company so that we could attempt a restoration of lost data. The company worked for almost two weeks trying to recover the data, and we ultimately failed.
I want to assure everyone here that we spent a great deal of time, effort, and money to try to bring back an up to date copy of Rescreatu. A series of unfortunate and really unlucky events turned this into a long and painful process and ultimately, we were only able to roll back the website to a backup made on June 23rd, 2008. For a majority of the time we thought the worst case scenario was a 2 week roll back, which is what I mentioned in many emails from worried players.
Rescreatu has been a project of mine for the last three years of my life. Our staff has worked tirelessly on this game. We are not ready to let this event destroy us. I, along with all of our staff, am committed to this game. We can only apologize for what has happened and hope that you can forgive us. We are aware that we will lose many players who do not wish to start over from this long ago. If you are one of these people, I would like to thank you for your support and can only hope that you change your mind. We have great things in store for Rescreatu.
If you joined after June 23rd, you will have to register again if you wish to play. We estimate that we lost nearly 15,000 accounts in this roll back.
All images, scripts, and other work are 100% up to date. We did not lose any data on the development of v2 from this hack. In fact, V2 has made significant progress during the time we’ve been down and I will be releasing another demo very soon. I know you will love it.
Anyone who has purchased credits after June 23rd will be given the option to redeem their purchased credits. This also applies for people who need to make a new account to start over. We will provide a link shortly for you to submit your credit redemption requests.
If you have problems logging in, make sure you are using your password from this time period. Otherwise, visit this page to use the forgotten password feature.
If you’ve changed your email, you will need to contact a staff member.
The next few weeks will be very hectic. I would like to ask all of our members to follow our rules. The staff cannot handle an excessive amount of rude complaints. We will accept any constructive criticism, but please be respectful. Our rules still apply and will be enforced.
I would like to conclude this message by thanking everyone for sticking with us. This was a very discouraging event, but we won’t let it stop us. Rescreatu will continue to flourish.

Tja, das heißt im Klartext, dass der Hacker wirklich ganze Arbeit geleistet hat - selbst die Sicherheitsbackups sind zerstört.
Fast alle User haben sehr viel verloren - von Items bis hin zu den wertvollen pets. Genau wie ich. Der größte Teil meiner Pets fehlt und die, die noch da sind, sind nun wieder Babies, obwohl sie alle schon lange erwachsen waren.
Auch sind sehr viele Accounts verloren gegangen - exakt 15.000, um mal eine Zahl zu nennen.
Das Ganze ist fürchterlich ärgerlich - aber ich sage mir immer: es ist ein Spiel, bestehend aus nullen und einsen. Bunte Pixel, nicht mehr, nicht weniger. Und wenn sie noch so schön sind ...
Natürlich bin auch ich verärgert, maßlos verärgert, da ich meine Meragon-Familie schon fast komplett hatte und nun wieder neu anfangen muß. Andererseits sage ich mir, dass es auch eine Chance ist, es diesmal besser zu machen, da sich die Geschmäcker im Laufe der Zeit ja auch ändern.
Nun gut, genug geheult, das bringt die Pets auch nicht zurück. Also: Let's the game start again! :wink:

Bin wieder da und nun das. So gut wie alle meine wertvollen pets sind weg, bis auf eines und ich habe jetzt da die uni wieder los geht keine Zeit für online games. Spielen ist nicht mehr drin und damit kann ich auch kein tu verdienen. Es macht für mich leider wenig Sinn weiter zu spielen und daher werd' ich res wohl verlassen. Am meisten bedrückt mich, dass die Pets weg sind die mir geschenkt wurden. Sie waren mir am Wichtigsten.
