Au contraire.
Apparently, not only is that bit of advice most doctors will give untrue, it is exactly wrong. Studies have shown that those who average 6-7 hours a night die less than those who sleep more. Even 3 hours sleepers have a better track record than 8 hour sleepers--and with sleeping pills being as bad for you as a smoking habit, there are quite a lot of people who should probably not refill their prescriptions.
