    Songs You Skip Over
Which songs do you fast forward past
    on Simply Red Albums....?

Brilliant question!!! To be honest, there are not many songs I would skip :D And it depends a lil bit on my mood.

However here is my Top3 of songs which I tend to skip :devil

The Sky Is A Gypsy ... this song is soooo strange to my ears
No Direction ... which direction? ...hmmm... however, when I'm in the right mood I just loooove that song :D
    Remembering The First Time

I usually skip "Home Loan Blues" - never liked that song :flop

I skip very few but like Gina I will pass by Home Loan Blues often. I also skip the entire CD of Love & The Russian Winter. The few tracks I like I hear them on the "It's Only Love" compilation disc.

Give it a second chance! It's such a great song. Didn't you hear Ian's amazing solo?

I like Dee and Sara in it :) And yes Ian's solo is great. It tends to get skipped if I am short on time and want to hear something else before I arrive at my destination while driving. But I don't dislike the song.

Su~ what is it about So Beautiful that you don't like~ just wondering :)

Or that bodacious bass line...*starts bobbing head front and back* Groove on!!! :D

I know the issue. The lyrics. This was a jam tune that was never allowed to flesh out. Imagine the band being turned loose on this one a la "Something For You"...yeah. Now THAT would be a treat. :-D

    Songs I skip--by album:
Picture Book through Life--none from any of them

Blue--Come Get Me Angel, Night Nurse

Love and the Russian Winter--to tell you how much I dislike this album, I don't even know the full tracklisting! The only tracks I LISTEN to on there are The Spirit of Life, Ain't That A Lot Of Love, Back Into The Universe, Man Made The Gun (occasionally), More Than A Dream, and Wave The Old World Goodbye. I skip over everything else, every time.

Home--none, and this is probably my favorite album

Simplified--most of the slow stuff! Fairground, For Your Babies, Smile, Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye.

    Let's see what Amplified brings.

No, it's not the lyrics. I just don't like the over-jazziness of it - too mellow & not enough drums or keyboards for my taste. Sorry....

IT'S ODD, CAUSE I DON'T SKIP OVER ANY SONG OF MICK'S.
HIS VOICE IS THE THING AND AS I SAID BEFORE, HE COULD SING
"MARY HAD A LITTLE LAMB" AND I'D LISTEN TO IT.
I MUST ADMIT THAT I DO GET A BIT TIRED OF HEARING " HOLDING BACK THE YEARS." AND NOTHING CAN COMPARE TO THE FIRST, ORIGINAL RECORDING WAY BACK WHEN.
BUT I GIVE MICK'S MUSIC A BREAK, SOMETIMES IT WILL BE MONTHS AND THEN I'LL GO BACK AND LISTEN TO HIM. I ENJOY SUCH A VARIETY
OF MUSIC THAT I HAVE A LOT TO CHOOSE FROM.

Hi Kids -- well, the song I skip over 99% of the time is "We're In This Together." Reason being: I don't like the verse: "... how the world wasn't able to see that they were washed up failures." I don't find the tempo of the song very "uplifting" and, after reading a quote in a Menard's ad very long ago, I've just not been able to like the song. The quote is: "Failure is an event, not a person." For those of you who don't know what Menard's is, it is a chain of hardware/appliance/lumber stores in Wisconsin (like Home Depot or Lowe's -- maybe they are outside of WI, too, for all I know). Believe it or not, Menard's puts quotes on the bottoms of the pages of their Sunday ads, most of them are a kick; some so very true.... anyway......... there you have it...

On a better note, there are sooooooo many SR tunes I can listen to repeatedly..... :D :D

    WE'RE IN THIS TOGETHER....
NOW THAT YOU MENTION THIS SONG, I HAVE TO AGREE. IT'S SORT OF
ANNOYING AND REMINDS ME OF THE SONG THEY CAME OUT FOR
"HANDS ACROSS AMERICA". I THINK IT WAS USED FOR THE SUPER SOCKER (SP?) GAMES THAT WERE PLAYED A FEW YEARS BACK.

I REALLY DON'T LIKE THIS SONG AT ALL, BUT HAVEN'T PLAYED IT FOR SO LONG THAT I FORGOT.

Hiya LinSki -- yeah, yeah -- where have I been -- this is a LATE response.... I agree -- failure can teach one to succeed... we learn from failure, however, it can be very self-deflating if one is referred to as a failure... I do think there is a difference... hence the reason for no "warm fuzzies" from that song. Get those hands of yours better. Just a few more weeks, right?

I keep telling Queenie to get her royal bum over here, but she's busy as all snot at work...she keeps saying she'll stop by though. She reads but hasn't registered yet...

    Hi V,
Mick liked that song because he thought he could relate the words to the record executives who wanted him to play THEIR MUSIC instead of what he wanted to do. That's why he started his own record label and went independent.
So if you listen to the words, and hear Mick directing them at the record business people, you'll see why he selected it for his first independent recording HOME.
"You've got a lot of nerve..." and so on......
he thought the words worked just perfectly.....
he showed them that he COULD DO IT and he did.

    Love,
    Lin xx

Well, got wrapped up in the myofascial release therapy that I'd even forgotten about asking... AND... the therapist didn't mention it, either... probably another reason I'd forgotten. She did tell me that there are time when the surgery is necessary and that the physical therapy helps make the surgery more successful.... I'm going to go that route.... and hope for the best....

No, V, you're not the only one who finds the song "dry" if you will. Dylan's version, too, in my opinion. BUT, there is a point made with the song, and I think that's why Mick sang it...

No, daaaaahlink.... although I would've loved to really have given the man a "scalp massage," I actually just tousled those gorgeous curls. :D Considering the fact that Alfred was just millimeters away, I thought better of it -- he'd probably have physically removed me from the small crowd there. Besides... there were other peeps waiting for Mick, so I didn't want to be rude... :D Next time, however....

You're right ladies, P.4th S. makes perfect sense in the Home album!

Let's just say that since Mick has proven everybody to be capable of success without the be big record labels...and that he's got loads of great songs to chose from for his next concerts... well, I hope he'll drop that one from his set list!!!! But I sure won't complain if he doesn't, hearing his voice live is the best treat. :D

    love

    Skip Over
The only song I really skip over when listening to SR CD's is For Your Babies! It’s not terrible song, the lyrics are good but the song just does nothing for me. Way too mellow for me. Maybe I do not like it because I have no childern of my own so I cannot relate to the song???

I've started some physical therapy -- myofascial release, to be specific. Has already helped some, but like they say, "no pain, no gain." Surgery is scheduled for 05/02 and 05/16 - one hand at a time. More physical therapy after surgeries.... Shall keep all posted...

Best of luck to you, Rizzie!! What happened to the acupuncture idea?

Well, got wrapped up in the myofascial release therapy that I'd even forgotten about asking... AND... the therapist didn't mention it, either... probably another reason I'd forgotten. She did tell me that there are time when the surgery is necessary and that the physical therapy helps make the surgery more successful.... I'm going to go that route.... and hope for the best....

Hey Liz Good Luck with your hands! I hope your operations are very successful. I know what the pain feels like having bouts of with my carpal tunnel problems every now & then. Ah the price you pay for being a COMPUTER GEEK!!! Get well soon!
