Dear FirstSky Alliance Members,
I’d like to present Australis to the FirstSky Alliance Board, in order to apply for membership.
About myself:
My name’s Alessandro, I’m 24 years old, university student.
I’ve been playing on AirlineSim for roughly 2 years, among the airlines I created, the most successful ones were Icelandic, whose name suggests it was based in Iceland, and Atlantica, an all-business class airline based in Newark, which eventually numbered 14 aircrafts, mostly 767s, and a fairly good network given the business model it followed, and stopped due to AirlineSim game reset.
About Australis:
Facts, as of 6th march 2008:
Hub: Santiago de Chile (SCL)
Fleet: 28 (5 A319-100, 18 A320-200, 3 A321-100, 1 A330-200, 1 A330-300X)
Destinations served: 45
Weekly Flights: 565
Australis

http://airlinesim.4players.de/de/index.php/Australis
Target: Australis is an international airline based in Santiago de Chile, whose main focus is the development of a comprehensive network spanning across Chile, the Americas, Oceania and Europe. We surpassed our main Chilean competitor in less than two weeks, ranking as third airline in South America for passengers transported and fifth for freight transported.
Australis Perù
http://devau.airlinesim.4players.de/action/info/enterprise?id=2922
Our sister company, Australis Perù, follows the same model and is currently ranked as the ninth airline in South America for passengers transported and seventh for freight transported.
Combining together the two Australis, You’ll get the third position for passengers transported and first position for freight transported in South America, and positions will grow as soon as new planes are added.
There’s NO interlining agreement between Australis and Australis Perù, since they’re owned by two different Holdings.
Network:
Our current network is covering most of South America’s main destinations, and it will expand as soon as new aircrafts are ordered, with the aim of providing at least a daily flight to every major city in the continent.
Fleet:
Narrow body fleet: it is currently composed by Airbus A320 family planes, as we decided to provide our passengers with the roomiest airplanes in the market. The above mentioned type is deployed in our South American network, and it’s configured in a two class layout, for both Australis and Australis Perù.
Wide body fleet: we plan to focus on two wide body planes, the A330 and the B777.
The A330 models will be deployed on our Central American and North American network, Our wide body fleet is currently composed by a single Airbus A330-300x aircraft, deployed on the Santiago-Miami route. We plan to acquire another identical aircraft to boost the route, being it a so called “cash cow” one. Further A330s will be of the smaller -200 model, since the planned destination will require less capacity, as well as range performance are different.
The B777 models, specifically -200ERs, will be deployed on our European, Australian and Auckland services.
All of our long haul planes will be configured in a three class layout.
Australis Perù wide body fleet will be expanded with the acquisition of some other A330-200s, no 777s are planned at this point, as its long haul network will be smaller than Australis’ one, furthermore the only A330-200 will be re-configured to a three-class layout, as its future ones will be.
Regards,
Alessandro

Hello Alessandro,
I hope you can speak/read/understand German and you just like it to show your English-knowlege... if not, we may have a problem and therefore I continue in German.

Thanks for Your reply, Russiana.
I can read and understand German, but it's been quite long since I last studied it, so I'll be writing in English in order to avoid mistakes, giving You all the possibility to clearly understand what I write, hope this won't be a disturbing factor to You all.
I forgot to specify that I’m Italian, I live in Northern Italy.
I re-registered on the AirlineSim Forum some days ago, I used to be registered with another username in the past rounds of AirlineSim, but I lost the registration datas, so I thought it was better to get a new one instead of retrieving the old ones.
I can understand that You’re interested in my past experiences with AirlineSim.
How I found AirlineSim: I was looking for a then freeware and web variation of the cd-rom based “Airlines” game.
Previous airlines ran on AirlineSim:
Icelandic
I can’t recall when I exactly started it, I think it was in fall 2006.
Icelandic was based in Kefklavik, Iceland and provided an extensive domestic and international network both in the U.S. and Europe.
The fleet was mainly composed by Boeing 757-200s deployed on most of the international routes, and a single 767-300ER which was used on the route to Copenhaghen Kastrup, as it showed the strongest demand in our network. Dash 8-100s and -300s were used on the domestic network.
Icelandic was eventually asked to become a member of the then United Earth Alliance
The then route map of Icelandic

And its livery

Atlantica
As I said, Atlantica was an all-business class airline, based in New York Newark, I was quite impressed by its performances, as I didn’t expect such a success for that kind of business model.
The fleet was made up of 767-200ERs, two 767-300ERs, and two 757-200s. A small cargo division was also planned, and as You can see a 747-400F was ordered.
Atlantica’s livery

And its fleet some time before the game reset.

If some other information is needed, I’ll be more than glad to answer.
Regards,
Alessandro

Hallo Alessandro,

Hello Dima, here I provide You all with the answers to the questions:
Previous airlines
As I previously said, I ran Icelandic for the first time in fall 2006, then came the first game reset. I then ran it again in the summer 2007 round, but the market, which by itself is quite small, was overcrowded, with three other airlines, so I decided to let someone else the opportunity of running an airline in Iceland, since I already played it, and in the meantime develop some other business model for a personal interest in trying some niche business models.
I always had in mind Chile as the country where I could establish a well structured and promising airline, now that I realized my plan, It would be foolish not to continue with it in a long time perspective
Name
I chose Australis for two simple reasons:
- Both Chile and Perù are in the Austral hemisphere;
- I liked how it sounds.
Internal Configuration
In the game’s first weeks the market response is quite impressive, and it then settles down. I decided to take advantage of that response in the first weeks, in order to consolidate my position in the market. An internal re-configuration of the A32X has already been planned, as soon as the load factors will stabilize in a more real way. The new configuration will see the introduction of more spacious seats in both Economy and Business class, with few more business class seats, given the somehow unexpected high yields I’ve found in the Chilean market.
The comparison in the advertising campaign was mainly related to the two different planes, the A32X and the CRJ family. Australis’ main Chilean competitor flies a lot of CRJs on very long sectors, some are even in the 4 hours range, having flown both of them I personally think that an A320, whatever the internal configuration, is roomier and more comfortable than a CRJ.
Interlinings
My interlining agreements are definitely negotiable, at the beginning I signed them in order to cope with the competition, indirectly offering more destinations; now that Australis has gained a more stable position, some of them will be withdrawn.
Holdings
Having two holdings isn’t an issue at the moment. Chile and Perù are similar markets, the second one being smaller and needing less dedication. The two countries have a strong relationship and similar cultural heritage, in the real world Lan Airlines created a subsidiary there, so I thought that it would make sense, and so far my strategy has proved to be successful.

Hallo
Julia

Hello Julia,
As previously stated, the IL agreements are definitely negotiable.
In the event of Australis’ admission, and as consequence of it, Asas de Janeiro will become Australis' exclusive partner in Brazil, resulting in all of the current IL agreements with other Brazilian airlines to be withdrawn.
Kind regards,
Alessandro

Hallo Alessandro,
