    Blood of Apocalypse

Darkness is falling over my mind
Nothing but blankness is hiding behind,
Blood over the world’s death face
    My heart is covered
    In the evil’s haze

Out of grey cloudfields over the towers, which broke out of the earth like black spikes till they seemed to touch the dark sky, acid rain was falling and turned the last memories of a mighty city like statues into thick boulders. The wild Jazz-music and the laugh of whine-drinking barguests was to hear as a quiet echo out of the vegetating buildings. On the half-rusted signposts, which hung over ruins and jarred quietly in the wind, the single letters detached and fell on the befouled earth like snowflakes. Strange figures shooed along the impassable streets like unrest ghosts and raked among dirt, broken beerbottles and to hills piled trashbags; seaching for some food. The sun stood shrouded by clouds and rained fire-colored light down on the ghost town and in the amtosphere the burning feel of gasoline and steel. Out of the alleyways, between decayed apartment buildings, pushed an ill smelling of leaked spirit, which burned into the nose. Black streetcats hid in the overthrown garbage cans, some cans ablazed in the upcoming darkness of the dawn.
A small shadow hovered over the stony walls, unnoticed and quiet. It was a young woman, who hide her shaky body under a long cape, stiched out of different clothes. Her gentle face was covered halfway with a soft satinscarf; only her stinging green eyes shot through the unfriendly darkness like gleaming emerals.
She breathed hard and her heart, which started to pound like a working vehiclemotor, seemed to break out of her chest. Her eyes looked cagey in all directions to find a good hideout. She ran to a high wooden divider, which severed the southern alley from the nothern one and climbed up exhausted. As she reached the top, she jumped off on the other side and landed ungentle on the rain-smudged earth.
Despite her weakness, she tried to stand up for her plan to flee throught the eastern alley. But still she was lying in the dirt - with wide torn open eyes she was starring in the red glowing ones of a three meters huge, steely monster. The metallic surface glistened black in the weak light of the dawn like pebble stones and its mighty steellegs stood anchored and indestructible in the mud.
She heard a whistling and out of the crevices between metallic plates blew a hot steam, as the steelgiant moved his monstrous arms toward the young woman. *enemy located* - after that all predicative signal, mighty guns
heaved out of the arms, where a normal bazooka acted more like a water pistol compared with these guns. The young woman didn’t waste any thought but rolled instictively aside and escaped from the shooting giant just in time, which would riddle her like a sifter.
With her last power she crawled throught the mud and hide behind the garbage cans, protected against the deathly weapons of the machine. Sweat ran out of her widened skin pores, thick like her dirt smudged tears. Her heart beat wildly, that she feared to get a cardiac infarction.
The steelmonster stomped to her hideout and prepared for a new attack. It fired countless bullets again, which broke effordless the hard surface of the garbage cans this time. Out of the bullet holes flowed a stinging smelling liquid, which amassed to small puddles. The young woman crawled frightened from one to the next hideout and tried to escape.
Because of the heat sensitive instruments, it seemed always to know where she actually stayed. No hideout could save her any longer. Charged electric cables where lying on the way, but the steely monster oversaw the danger. As it heaved its huge leg over the buzzing cables, one teared open and sprayed a rain out of dazzling sparks. The single sparks hovered to the burning smelling puddles, filled with the strange liquid, which had come out of the garbage cans. One touch of a single spark and the puddles turned into a mighty firerring, which encompassed the steely monster and gave the young woman enough time now, to flee through the eastern alley. Hard breathing, she arised and started to run for her life, not sensing that the maschine still had his weapons directed on her sweating body. Like a deathly flash the bullets shot through her left leg, burned her a horrible deep wound. Clasped from incredible pain she tottered to earth and gasped, as she threw a look at her strong blooding leg. The wound was really deep, her leg was riddled nearly into frezzles and the rest of her skin around began to swell. She clenched her teeth and crawled like a seal throught the mud. She wouldn’t give up yet, not in her life.

Sometimes she asked herself, if it made really sense to life in a world full of terrorizing machines, which chased after every innocent mutant. The earth belonged to every lifeform and not to violent dictators, who were looking at the nature and the mutants as a worthless garbage. She still remebered the old dream of Charles Xavier, where humans and mutants should life in peace and freedom together. But now the humanrace had disappeared a long time ago, or better said: mostly turned self into mutants, in one part thanks to Apocalypse.
She remembered Ororo as the last known face she had seen, before her whole “family” disappeared in a whirl of sand and dust. In the last minutes the stormgodess was knieing on the destroyed ground, mourning over the dying earth. In the last seconds they were huging eath other, drowned in tears.
And then – everybody disappeared. She couldn’t remember how. But they were away.
No sign of peace or freedom.
After the fall of the Egyptian god of chaos the world falled with him – into a halfdestroyed planet, where anarchy was the new type of gouvernment in every country. Nobody had ever known how the whole story started, but someday a group of unkown people promised the mutantkind a better life, if they would decide to vote them for new rulers. People didn’t really know, what to do anything else. They made them to their leaders and followed them, blind and faithful like herderdogs. If that was a mistake – nobody wanted to know.
A new regime was born and the people started to build machines and assemble weapons by the order of a mighty man, called “D’shar”, who made false promises to people and hid his real plans behind his speech to smash the crime and heal the justice. Soon as the work was completed, D’shar seemed to control every single life of a person by his intelligent mashines, the “Sourge”, which moved throught the destroyed cities, searching for all types of criminals and killing them. People were thankfully to him and their hope for a new and better future grew out of the dry and hard earth like a lonely desertflower.
But something seemed to change. The machines began to chase after innocent mutants with a simply reason: mighty mutants could be a danger for the state.
Althought it was strange to everybody, but people didn’t want to hear, to see, to say anything. Even death bodies were lying on the streets, but everybody ignored them because D’shar was always right – because he was allmighty.
Out of the destroyed ground grew a powerful imperium, where D’shar sat there, barricaded in his undestroyable stronghold and looking down at the famished people, who limped on the illness infested streets like halfdeath skeletons.
    The poverty didn’t bothered him.
    No, it scared him.
He knew, someday people would gather together and protest against him and his accomplices with that much bloodily violence, he had given to them. He didn’t want to loose his power.
Over the whole world he gave the order to chase after every mutant who could be against the regime. Million sourges spread over the world, only for searching, finding and finally killing. The mutants started to live with bright fear on their faces and nobody was save any longer – the Sourges were everywhere.
Since then, it was incredible hard to life on this planet today.

With her last power the young woman tried to escape out of the shoot-angle from the still in fire captured machine. But a horrible shock ran throught her blooddrinking veins, as she saw another machine stomping right out of the eastern alley to her direction. Like a mouse caught in an entrapment, the young woman laid there with a wounded leg and her mind was blanc. She didn’t know what to do – she had only two ways to flee, but both were blocked by the steely monsters. Gripped by despairation, she crawled behind barrels. But she had to assert, that the bullets of the second machine interleft the hard surface easily. Shocked, she rolled aside and laid then hopeless in the rain-smudged earth, with no idea what to do next.
While the first machine tried to find a way out of the firerring, the second one approached the woman and moved his with weapons ballasted steelarms towards her. Searching for a way out, she found fortunately a low laying cellarwindow behind the barrels, where she could slip through curtly. She started to crawl away behind the barrels and with a powerful punch she broke the glas and snaked throught the small opening, before the second machine could kill her with his bulletfireing weapons. Small splinter hung at the window frames as the rest of the broken glas scriped bleeding wounds up her back and stomach, but her body was too numb to feel any pain. Her thoughts concentrated on saving her life.
She fell motionless throught the window into the dark cellarroom und laid quiet on the with cullet shared floor, which felt cold and displeasing like ice. Out of all her injuries ran blood and formed a red puddle under her aching stomach.
The first machine finally broke out of the firerring, stomped in the direction of the second one and both were searching for the eloped woman. As they still didn’t get a lifesigh of her, both machines started to leave the alley and stomped to the streets.
The woman waited with tensed muscles and eavesdropped the more and more quieter noise of the two sourges. As the noise finally hushed, she laid her head relieved on the cold floor and rested from the heart-tearing pressure. Only now she felt the immense pain and her gaze acted more blurred any second. Slowly she closed her sleepless eyes and black darkness covered her sight. She still waited for a wonder...
