Dave's put up one last round of auctions for the Waldorf School...this time it's personal--he's surrendering some of his beloved Sheffield United programs, and an old ABC tour program and itinerary!!

Dave sends along his heartfelt thanks for all of everyone's contributions so far, and for the dedication to the cause. He and the band are hard at work on Amplified...I'm sure he'll be along to answer our questions when he can get here.

Had someone contact me with curiosity about Dave's passionate commitment to this cause...what his story with it might be. So I asked him. Here's what he's got so far...and he'll try to find the time to elaborate further for us if he can.
"Well, where does one start.
I will answer this email when i get the time to sit down properly..but the teachings of Rudolf Steiner are very broad.
For me his philosophies on education are particularly wonderful as the education is a spiritual one and re-incarnation being a strong part.
My 2 boys are going through the schooling at present,When i see them with their friends at school i see a strong bond like no other i have seen..the atmosphere in the school is so beautiful..they are nurtured and cared for but not in such a way that they are shielded from the REAL world..quite the opposite...the teachers are a special breed too and all were drawn to the education.
I point out a recent happening...
My eldest son suffered the death of his best friend 2 weeks ago...(very tough time of late!)
All his friends rallied around each other and brought strength to one another..talked very openly and respectfully about their friend George,and got together and planted a tree at the school for him.
They had left the school last year to go to a more senior school,but went back to the new premises as this was where they shared their time with George together.
To see the way that they behaved with one another during this tragic time (for my wife and i too) was wonderful and education aside ,,the wonderful spirit and bond they have built to take with them into their lives is special......Its this kind of teaching that makes Waldorf Education so special...and the way the child is allowed to be a child..and unfold in their own time!!

When you have children...give it a look as it doesn't suit everyone ,,,but it should!!"
So now you have a taster of why this means so much to Dave...and why the kids deserve everything we can give. I really encourage reading up on the philosophy, it is one that really intrigues me...here's a good link:

It's moments like this when I really appreciate the breadth of involvement with a band...when communication allows bonds beyond the music, and it becomes more like a family. :top
