Re: What Are You Watching???
suzen - 19.01.2006, 18:25What Are You Watching???
HI I used to love this topic on the old site , it is really interesting finding out about what everybody is watching around the world, so I thought I would resurrect it here.
Well here in England a new series of Desperate Housewifes started last night when Bree is now a widow (her face does not move at all and is shiny and smooth!) ER has started again (why the gorgeous Dr Kovac bothers with that mardy nurse I don't know)
My favourite British programme has to be Shameless. It is about a family 'surviving' on a Manchester housing estate, it is soooo bad, it really is a gem. This week the DSS moved in onto the estate to check everybodys benefit claims. The family set up an advice centre in their kitchen at £10 a question , and were renting out the kids to other families to substantiate their claims, it was hilarious. There is a brilliant actress in it called Maggie O'Neill who plays Sheila, she was (how to put it!!) helping out a local policeman with a small problem - thank goodness my teenage son had gone to bed!
So what are you all watching around the world????
Love Sue xx

Hi Sue,
Nice topic!
I love watching the Gilmore Girls (don't know if you know this show?) and indeed ER is one of my favorites too.
The english show you mention I haven't seen yet overhere is it new?
And Desperate Housewives well I am not too fond of it and don't watch it very often.

night nurse - 19.01.2006, 19:44
Great topic Suzen :)
I don't watch Desperate Housewives either~ seems everyone else here in the states does though! But I agree~ Marcia Cross, who plays Bree is the most plastic looking thing I have ever seen! Whats the deal with that???
Now ER has been my favorite since it started years ago. I LOVE Luca!!!! And I don't mind Abby either, it will be interesting to see what they do with them this season now that she is pregnant. I will be watching it tonight :)
I watch a bit of American Idol~ mainly to laugh at these people that think they can sing. And I do like snide Simon and his comments. He is raw and crass and to the point. He makes me laugh as he rolls his eyes.
Thats about it for me~ I do like the BBC's "What Not to Wear" but we only get that version once in a while. There is an American version as well the the British gals are so witty and snippy~ I love it.
Thanks for the topic Sue

We have some BBC programs on cableTV and definitely I love "What not to wear"... with my kid at home I don't have much chance to watch anything else than Discovery Kids :D but whenever U can I like to take a glance at international news (BBC, CNN, TV5) and of course, american sitcoms (old and new) on Warner and Sony. My favourites: Will & Grace, E.R., Ally McBeal, Mad About You.

We didn't subscribe to HBO before so had not seen the Soprano's, so i am catching up. A very good show. For those in other countries, this show really does reflect on the lifestyle...one aspect I don't seem to see though is the religious side....for every family I've known through classmates or neighbors, at least one child seems to join the priesthood or sisterhood to flee from the lifestyle. I did notice one show mentioned the son's confirmation, so maybe as I watch it, they will show more of that.
I've never seen Desparte Housewives, but it seems popular with lots of people, and both of us hate all the "fake reality shows" including Survivor, American Idol, Bachelor, etc...
Remember the post that Mick made about Simon ? He absolutely dislikes him after the nasty remark he made about Mick. I always hated him. Why not just have a real competition with qualified talent ? Because it wouldn't trick you into thinking that this is a real show, and that they have to sprinkle-in deadbeats because it seems to entertain. Heaven knows why it does.
The old Star Search did a better job, it seems like everyone who appeared on that show eventually became successful, even the losers.
I also like to watch lots of news programs, especially International because you see a different viewpoint of what is going on in the world and more information, more news.
The Ovation, History, Travel, Motor Racing, and Food channels are also great.
Wish the music channels would return to MUSIC, they've drifted away from it. Ovation and PBS show more musical performances.
Love,
Lin+Mark xx

"Shameless" sounds fabulous. I hope we can get it on BBCAmerica soon.
I watch "Desperate Housewives" whenever my schedule allows. Marcia Cross is supposed to be plastic. She's a "Stepford Wife" type. She's not like that offstage.
I do watch the Discover Channel quite a bit and on Comedy Central I love "The Daily Show" and the "Colbert Report." I TIVO those to watch when I am back from my business travels.
My "guilty pleasure" is watching "The World Poker Tour" on Saturdays. I also TIVO those a lot so I can at least pretend to have a life.
Peace and Joy!

Not much to watch at the moment down here as everyone is on summer holidays and the telly is crap. Except for those arm chair sportsmen, who are soaking up the cricket and tennis. New French and Saunders, old Ab Fab, Wild West (Dawn French). Not much Australian stuff on telly at the moment. We buy most of our stuff from OS. What a joke, eh?
Off to the theatre tonight at the Sydney Opera House to see LAWN. A story about a couple of Aussie blokes holed up in an apartment in Berlin with no money, no food and no way out. Dreaming of all things back on Australia that is sun, surf, family etc. Supposedly a bit spooky also.
This sick puppy still attached to Eastenders, Corrie and soon to come Emmerdale. As Emmerdale will be new, not sure where they will slot us in.

suzen - 24.01.2006, 17:58
Hi Pat
Summer holidays?????? I know you lot are upside down to us but hearing that brings it all home! It is freezing here and Arctic weather is coming at the weekend.
I loved Wild West with Dawn French, it is filmed in Cornwall a fave place of mine and I have a huge confession - just between us!- i went to the village that they filmed it in when we down in Cornwall the other year, to have a look round.
I am a huge fan of a comedy series called the League of Gentlemen (which they don't show any more) but I read that they all went to a college called Bretton Hall in Yorkshire so we had to have a day out there too so I could look round. The thing about that was that the college was in the middle of this fantastic sculpture park that was free and open to the public, which we didn't know about. You walk round these beautiful acres of English countryside and there are these priceless sculptures dotted round everywhere, including some by Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. So me being nosy has found us a really good place to go for days out.
It is Shameless on tonight , so I am in for a night in front of the telly!

The joke here is that we would never get any fresh air if we didn't watch Emmerdale (it is supposed to be about farming in the Yorkshire Dales!)

redorro - 25.01.2006, 04:25
Thanks for the info Sue. Yes, we are upside down. Can't imagine sweltering at Xmas? Most northerners can't. And many that experience it, don't like it. But that is all we know.
It is nice to come across these little treasures like those you have described. But you do have some lovely old treasures over there. We are only 200 years old, so don't have the architechture you have, nor the history. But we have the sun, surf & sand. Which suits this Leo just fine.
In 1992, I went to the UK with my girlfriend to visit her family at Colburn (near Catterick). The family and me, went for a day trip to Whitby. Interesting place I thought. But thought no more about it. Came home sat down one day and watch the video of Holding Back The Years. I got so excited. I'VE BEEN THERE, I'VE BEEN THERE, I'VE BEEN THERE. Jumping around the lounge room. I just wish I realised this before I visited. Then I would have undertaken a "HOLDING BACK THE YEARS", walking tour. Hey now there's an idea. I'll have to patent that idea.
Lots of English tourists make their way to Ramsey Street in Melbourne for the Neighbours visit. I would like a guest role in Corrie or Eastenders when I'm over there. But I can't see it happening.

MARTHA JEAN - 26.01.2006, 16:59SIX FEET UNDER
NOT HAVING CABLE, MY BEST FRIEND BROUGHT ME OVER THE COMPLETE TWO SEASONS OF SIX FEET UNDER. I JUST WATCH THE LAST OF IT THIS WEEK AND REALLY THOUGHT IT WAS PARAMOUNT.
HAVING A DARKSIDE, IT AMAZED ME ABOUT THE TONE OF THE SHOW.
THE TEEN-AGE GIRL WAS MY FAVORITE. I'M HOPING TO GET THE THIRD
SEASON SOON. THE PHOTOGRAPHY IS STUNNING IN THAT PROGRAM.
IT'S INTERESTING IN THE BEGINNING OF THE SHOW TO SEE WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES WERE AND HOW THE PERSON DIED.
I TRIED WATCHING DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, BUT JUST COULDN'T GET INTO IT AND WONDER WHAT THE BIG DEAL IS ABOUT THAT SHOW.
THE WOMEN ARE NOT ADVERAGE LOOKING, AS ONE SAID, THEY LOOK
PLASTIC AND WAY TOO THIN.
THANK GOODNESS FOR DVD CAUSE I FIND THE TELE HERE IN THE U.S.
TERRIBLE.
TAKE CARE EVERYONE.

Hi Pat
Promise not to divulge anything - but wow are you in for a treat!! My little world went a bit crazy last November I got home from holiday in Tenerife, my friend had taped me the last two episodes- I was in a state of shock for days after how it ended, then I went to two sr concerts, all in a few days! Sadly in all the excitement they got taped over or lost or something but they were on cable so hopefully they will be on normal telly this year so I can watch them again.

I've gone mental over Lost, full of foxy men covered in itchy looking bits of sand you want to brush off. And the plot is twisty turny and gets you thinking about it...lala la! What is in that hatch? What do the numbers mean? What is the significance of black and white rocks and why are the compasses screwy?
I was sucked into that car crash television of celebrity big brother, mainly to watch in awe as a UK member of parliament made a complete and utter fool of himself. If you are from the US, one of our wonderful channels shoves a pile of Z list celebrities in a house, and we guffaw horribly at them. I've got bored of it now though.
I watched march of the penguins the other day as well, bearing in mind I adore penguins anyway and it was fantastic. Watch em waddle

Yeah, me to Michi....
Over here they need to have Music Variety shows again.....
If your favorite artist appears on a late night show (Jay Leno, David Letterman for example) the performance is always at the end of the show and they hardly ever get to interview them and sometimes the actual song is cut short.....drives me crazy....
MTV and VH1 should at least have a show where every week you can see a live performance and a short interview or chat....
The "sitcom" shows are terrible, boring, with fake laugh tracks...
The reality shows are all rehearsed, scripted, predictably fake...
Even the morning news shows are plastered with commercials, and have really become "chat" shows.....although we are lucky that they do occasionally have music guests that do perform and they do talk to them a little bit in between songs....
WOULD LOVE to see SIMPLY RED perform at Rockefeller Square on the Today Show on NBC....what fantastic exposure that would be for them.
Good Morning America (ABC) also is doing these live performances in Bryant Park down the street from their studios, that is really a very good stage outside (so would have to wait until warmer weather)...
And CBS has concerts too....usually in the studio...
Maybe an e:mail to them all is in order....I'll get right on that !!!!!

SERIOUSLY I EVEN THINK THEIR INABILITY TO FLY WHICH COULD MAKE THEM LOOK POOR THINGS IN OTHERS` EYES MAKES THEM UNATTAINABLE FOR THE FLU! THUS TURING THEIR DRAWBACK INTO A BIG ADVANTAGE!!! I`M HAPPY FOR THEM ABOUT IT:) WHO NEEDS FLYING AT CONSTANT RISK OF CONTRACTING SOME STUPID FILTHY ILLNESS ha

Lost is a bit mad in my house, me and my furry man sit there making insane theories while drinking tea. We are up to date on the second series thanks to being naughty downloading types.
March of the Penguins is a nature documentary. To be honest you dont really learn much, it's more of a 'wow, what great cinematography'. My fave was the baby penguin that had eaten too much and was a fat fluffy blob on the landscape. hahaha! Love the way they fly in the water. yay!

Yeah, I'm with you also Michi. I too, to often fall asleep in front of the telly. And yes, it is boredom.
Living on my own, I really have the telly on for company. But I tell you, I spend more time channel surfing, including the pathetic pay TV, than I do sitting watching a program from start to end.
Reality shows don't do it for me. Lifestyle programs do. As they give me ideas on what I can do around the house and garden. I probably attempt approx 0.01% of what I watch on telly. But I have found them very useful, especially in the garden.
Am I sounding like a middle aged person, talking about my garden. I give too much away, don't I. :D

JUST GOT THROUGH PURPLE RAIN FOR THE FIRST TIME.
YES PEOPLE I'M A LATE BLOOMER.
AS IT WAS MADE BY PRINCE ABOUT PRINCE ,IT WAS PRETTY SELF-SERVING, BUT I HAVE TO TELL YOU, I WAS MORE THEN IMPRESSED WITH THE SONGS AND HIS MOVES. HIS TIMING WAS PERFACT.
HAS ANYONE SEEN THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN? IT'S A BEAUTIFUL MOVIE AND I THINK BETTER THEN THE BOOK.
Re: What Are You Watching???
night nurse - 07.02.2006, 17:04
Martha Jean~ Purple Rain was the very first "R" rated movie I went to back when I turned 17. LOL. It was fantastic. Now I kind of cringe because it is so dated but the music is terrific and Prince is quite funny. Under The Cherrie Moon was his second film and I loved that as well~ very quirky and he is very slick and silly all at the same time! See if you can find that one :)
AS for what I am watching~ today it is the Cuba DVD while I work on taxes. Oh how I love the slow version of Stars on this. It is beyond beautiful. I so wish he would have put it on the Simplified CD. Pure magic!
Re: What Are You Watching???
MARTHA JEAN - 08.02.2006, 16:24MORE ABOUT PRINCE...
HELLO NN, I WILL TRY AND FIND THE CHERRY MOON MOVIE.
IT'S STRANGE HOW DECADES CAN GO BY AND I'M STILL SO BEHIND
EVERYTHING.
GETTING ALL MY DVD'S AT THE LIBRARY, I FOUND PURPLE RAIN ALONG WITH FOUR OTHER MOVIES I HADN'T SEEN EITHER. I HARDLY EVER GO TO THE VIDEO STORE AS IT DRIVES ME NUTS TO KEEP LOOKING AND LOOKING . PLUS THE COST. AT THE LIBRARY THE DVD'S ARE ALL IN ONE PLACE AND YOU ONLY HAVE A CERTAIN SELECTON. BUT AS LONG AS I'VE BEEN GOING, I'VE ALWAYS FOUND MOVIES I HAVEN'T SEEN OR IT'S BEEN SO LONG THAT I FORGOT WHAT THE FILM WAS ABOUT.
YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THE FILM'S DATE AND IT IS SORT OF STRANGE TO SEE HOW DATED THE 80'S WERE. IT WAS SORT OF A MIX OF DISCO AND ENGLISH.
WHAT I WAS TAKEN WITH WAS HOW VERY GOOD PRINCE WAS. IT WAS SORT OF ANNOYING TO SEE HOW INTO HIMSELF HE WAS AND STILL IS.
BUT I HAD NO IDEA HOW VERY BRILLIANT HIS MUSIC, GUITAR AND PIANO PLAYING WAS. ALSO TO SEE HIM GRIND TO NICKI GRINDS WAS
CAPTAVATING.
I WAS GOING TO RUN RIGHT OUT AND GET HIS CD, BUT I FOUND A CASSETTE IN MY COLLECTION OF 1999 AND PLAYED THAT. I DECIDED THAT WATCHING WAS BETTER THEN LISTENING TO HIM. HE'S A REAL PERFORMER AND HIS RECORDINGS DON'T DO JUSTICE TO HIS MOVES.
THE MOVIE WILL GO BACK TODAY AND I'LL FIND SOMETHING TO REPLACE IT. BUT WHEN I DISCOVER SOMETHING THAT CATCHES MY EYE IT'S HARD FOR ME NOT TO SHARE OR DISCUSS IT WITH SOMEONE.
I KNOW IT'S OLD NEWS BUT IT VERY NEW TO ME.
BEING THAT I DON'T HAVE ANY OF SIMPLY RED'S DVD'S I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEIR LIKE, BUT I DO HAVE SOME OLD VIDEO'S BUT MY PLAYER BROKE.
THE LAST TIME I LOOKED AT THE RECORD STORE , I COULDN'T FIND ANY OF MICK'S DVD'S BUT WASN'T SURPRISED. I'LL KEEP LOOKING.
RIGHT NOW I'M LISTENING TO DIRTY VEGAS WHILE I PRACTICE MY WRITING. HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF THIS BAND? THEY'RE PRETTY UPBEAT AND IT'S EXCELLENT DANCING MUSIC.
THANKS FOR REPLYING TO MY MESSAGE AND GIVING ME YOUR IDEAS.

Hotel Babylon - BBC1 About a ficticious top London Hotel, slightly silly vaguely implausable? (Though I know some one on here has former life experience that might say otherwise) but good fun. & worht it just for Max Beasley
Ramsey's Kitchen nightmares. C4 - The guy's a legend. Entirely unsubtle but gets the job done & despite the fireiness seems to genuinely care eateries.

MY NEW, OLD FAVORITE MOVIE AT THIS TIME IS " THE DEVIL'S BACKBONE."
WHEW, THIS ONE WAS PROFECTION!! CHECKED IT OUT FROM THE LIBRARY AND HAD NO IDEA WHAT TO EXPECT. BUT IT SURE GOT MY ATTENTION FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END. NICE PHOTOGRAPHY
AND AN INTERESTING TIME FRAME, DURING THE SPANISH CIVIL WAR
WAY BACK WHEN.
THE CHILDREN WERE EXCELLENT AND IT SORT OF REMINDED ME OF A GHOSTLY, " LORD OF THE FLYS" ( THE FIRST AND ORIGINAL ONE.)
I WATCHED IT TODAY AT MY NORMAL TIME THAT I CUT OUT TO WATCH FILMS AND WAS VERY MUCH PLEASE TO HAVE GOTTEN SO MUCH FROM SUCH A MOTION PICTURE.
MY QUESTION IS THIS.... HAS ANYONE SEEN THIS GEM AND WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR MOVE. IT'S NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED. DON'T KNOW IF I'LL BE ABLE TO WATCH IT AGAIN AS IT WAS SO DISTURBING. BUT WILL PUT IT ON MY ALL TIME MOVIE FAVORITES. IT WAS EXCELLENT!!

One of my favorties is "What Not To Wear" I have seen the original UK version but we don't get it here so I watch the US version and love it.
But in general I don't spend alont of time in front of the tube.

GINA FROM DA BLOCK? WHAT SORT OF MOVIES HAVE YOU SEEN?
WERE THEY WATCHABLE?
Re: What Are You Watching???
MARTHA JEAN - 16.03.2006, 16:22
NIGHT NURSE, I WATCHED WHAT NOT TO WEAR WHEN I LIVED IN ENGLAND. IT WAS PRETTY INTERESTING.
BUT SINCE I DON'T HAVE CABLE, I'M NOT ABLE TO WATCH THE ONE IN THE STATES.
I DID SEE THE TWO ORIGINAL WOMEN ON OPRAH AND THEY GAVE SOME GOOD TIPS ON HOW TO LOOK FAB.
MOSTLY I WATCH VIDEO'S OR DVD AND NOT THE TUBE AS THERE'S REALLY SCANT TO WATCH. I DID WATCH THE DANCING COMPITITON
SHOW WHEN IT WAS ON.

Hi, Martha! It's me, LittlAngel. Do you remember me? I've seen mostly horror movies lately, plus "The Shaggy Dog" with Tim Allen & "Failure to Launch" with Sarah Jessica Parker. I also got to see the Oscar winner for this year, "Crash" which was AWESOME!! That movie is very realistic. :-D

isabelg - 17.03.2006, 16:54Hi gals!
Well, I've got almost no time for TV series nowadays, but I like renting movies, and I've just seen CHICAGO. I strongly recommend it to everyone, it's SUPERB!! I have also here some DVD's of the first 3 seasons of the sitcom SEINFELD and all the chapters are hilarious!
Re: What Are You Watching???
MARTHA JEAN - 17.03.2006, 17:00
HELLO GINA,
YES, OFCOURSE I REMEMBER YOU!
I REMEMBER YOU WRITING ABOUT VISITING AND GOING TO SEE MICK IN ENGLAND BACK ON THE OLD SITE BEFORE THEY TOOK IT OFF.
I'M CURIOUS HOW YOU FOUND ENGLAND? DID YOU LIKE IT?
BECAUSE I'M NOT TOO FOND OF PEOPLE BEING ALL AROUND ME, I DON'T GO TO THE CINEMA ANYMORE. ALSO, I USUALLY HAVE TO GO TO THE LADIES ROOM RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MOVIE AND MISS SOME PARTS OF IT. SO, AS I USE TO BE AN ADVID MOVIE GOER, I WATCH DVD'S NOW AND HAVE CUT OUT AN HOUR OR SO A DAY TO WATCH THEM. IT'S SO MUCH BETTER FOR ME THEN FIGHTING THE CROWDS.
I'VE HEARD THAT CRASH IS AN OUTSTANDING FILM. I'LL CHECK IT OUT WHEN EVER IT COMES TO A VIDEO STORE CLOSE TO ME.
SHAGGY DOG DOESN'T APPEAL TO ME, AS I'M NOT TOO FOND ON TIM ALLEN. BUT THE BOY I TUTOR JUST LOVED THE MOVIE AND LAUGHED A LOT WHEN TELLING ME ALL ABOUT THE SHOW. WE HAVE SHOW AND TELL EVERY SESSION AND HE COULDN'T WAIT TO TELL ME ALL ABOUT IT.
IT WAS FUN WATCHING HIS LITTLE FACE SMILE AND GET EXCITED WHILE HE EXPLAINED IT.
WHAT ELSE HAVE YOU'VE BEEN UP TO GINA? FONDLY, MARTHA JEAN

HELLO ISA,
NOT SEEING CHICAGO YET, I'VE HEARD NOTHING BUT GOOD THINGS ABOUT THE MOVIE.
AS FAR AS SEINFIELD, IT SO FUNNY ISN'T IT? I STILL WATCH THE RERUNS AND IT MAKES ME LAUGH EVERY TIME.
I'VE BEEN WATCHING THE MALCOM IN THE MIDDLE RERUNS AND THEY'RE SO CLEVER. I LIKE DEWY, THE YOUNGEST BOY, THE BEST. HE'S SO CUTE AND I LIKE HIS ATTITUDE.

Hi, Martha! Glad you remember me. Yes, I went to England for 10 days & stayed in Manchester (Mick's hometown), which was verrry nice. The people there are just so friendly & sweet. I got to see 3 SR shows, which was truly wonderful. And I finally got my kiss from da Mickster, so I came home a happy camper :P
Nothing much else going on except heavy involvement with my church Folk Group. Just went on a trip to Washington, D.C. with them last month for a Catholic Music Conference, which was awesome. What have YOU been up to??

Re: What Are You Watching???
MARTHA JEAN - 19.03.2006, 17:18
AS OF YESTERDAY I'M WATCHING " THE GOLDNE BOWL". I ONLY WATCHED AN HOUR OF IT THEN AND WILL WATCH THE REST TODAY.
IT'S OK, BUT HAS MOSTLY AMERICAN ACTORS IN IT AND IT'S NOT AS GOOD AS THE PERFORMANCE ON MASTERPIECE THEATRE YEARS BACK.
Re: What Are You Watching???

Martha, you never answered my question to you in my last post.....
Re: What Are You Watching???
MARTHA JEAN - 21.03.2006, 16:47
OH, I'M SORRY I DIDN'T ANWSER YOUR QUESTION.
WHAT HAVE I'VE BEEN DOING LATELY..... MOSTLY TUTORING MY SWEET,
LITTLE, MEXICAN BOY ENGLISH, WRITING AND READING.
THEN I FINIALLY FOUND A MUSIC UNIT THAT DOES RECORDING FROM CD TO TAPE AND TAPE TO TAPE. SO I'VE BEEN WORKING ON SOME MUSIC COMPOSITES.
EVERY MORNING I GET UP EARLY AND WRITE FOR TWO HOURS. THAT'S ONE OF THE REASONS THIS SITE IS SO IMPORTANT, AS I CAN PRACTICE MY WRITING ON IT.
AS ALWAYS, I'M WORKING ON MY HOUSE AND HAVE FINIALLY FINISHED THE MUSIC ROOM, BUT AM STILL WORKING ON THIS MESS OF AN OFFICE.
DOING MY COLLAGES KEEPS ME BUSY AND I TRY AND DO ONE AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK.
WHAT HAVE YOU'VE BEEN UP TO?
I JUST STARTED WATCHING THE MOVIE " 13" WITH HOLLY HUNTER AND IT'S QUTIE GOOD. BUT I ONLY HAD A HALF AND HOUR OF WATCHING TIME YESTERDAY. I GOT HOME SORT OF LATE FROM WORK YESTERDAY
AND WAS TOO TIRED TO SIT UP AND WATCH ANYTHING. SO, I'LL CONTINUE IT TODAY AT MY USUAL MOVIE TIME.... FIVE P.M.
Re: What Are You Watching???
Gina From Da Block - 21.03.2006, 18:14
Martha, that's great that you've been working on your writing & artwork. Creativity is very important. I still have & cherish that collage you made for me. I've been busy with work & I started dating someone very recently, so it's still quite new for me. "Thirteen" is an amazing film - please let me know what you think of it when you've seen it all.

CONGRADUALTIONS ON DATING SOMEONE, HOW VERY EXCITING FOR YOU!!
I SURE HOPE IT CONTINUES AND HE'S A DECENT BEING.
HOW DID THIS COME TO BE? DID YOU MEET HIM IN YOUR SINGING GROUP AT CHURCH? IT'S SO HARD TO MEET MEN IN THIS DAY AND AGE.
MUCH LUCK TO YOU AND I HOPE YOU WILL FIND HAPPINESS WITH THIS PERSON.

Re: What Are You Watching???
MARTHA JEAN - 23.03.2006, 16:39
AFTER THREE DAYS, I'M STILL WATCHING THE MOVIE "13" . I'VE JUST HAD TOO MUCH TO DO AND BY THE TIME MY MOVIE TIME COMES AROUND I'VE BEEN TOO TIRED.
BUT YESTERDAY, I WATCHED QUITE A BIT OF IT AND STOPPED THE DVD WHEN HOLLY HUNTER WAS IN THE SHOWER. I'LL TRY AND WATCH THE END OF IT TONIGHT.
I HAVE FOUND THIS FILM TO BE VERY GOOD IN MANY WAYS, IT'S QUITE DESTURBING AND IS SORT OF SHOCKING. IT MAKES ME FEEL FORTUNATE THAT I DON'T HAVE A TEEN-AGER AT THIS TIME OF 2006.
ALL THE ACTORS ARE SO GOOD, ESPECIALLY HOLLY HUNTER.
THE PHOTOGRAPY IS NICE TOO. I'LL TRY AND FINISH IT AND GIVE MORE COMMENTS TOMORROW.
THIS IS ONE MOVIE I THINK I'LL ONLY BE ABLE TO WATCH ONCE THOUGH. I WILL WATCH A MOVIE IF IT'S PARAMOUNT, BUT FIND IT HARD TO WATCH UPSETTING MOVIES AGAIN.
SOME OF THE MOVIES I FOUND THIS WAY WERE, " SID AND NANCY"
AMERICAN X AND BOYS DON'T CRY, THE DEER HUNTER AND PLATOON.
Re: What Are You Watching???
Gina From Da Block - 23.03.2006, 18:12
Here's a juicy tidbit for you about "Thirteen" - the girl who's playing the bad girl who gets the young blonde into drugs & sex is the one who wrote the screenplay. It's based on her own life. Her name is Nikki Reed & she now has a role in the t.v. show "The O.C."
Re: What Are You Watching???
MARTHA JEAN - 24.03.2006, 16:17
FINIALLY FINISHING THE MOVIE "13" I CAN SAY IT DIDN'T DISAPPOINT ME. IT WAS A HARD MOVIE TO WATCH THOUGH . AS I SAID BEFORE IT'S A BIT SCARY TO THINK THIS IS WHAT SOME OF THE TEENS ARE DOING NOW.
NOT WATCHING THE SPECIAL FEATURES YET, I WILL TONIGHT, I WAS SURPRISED TO HEAR THAT IT WAS ABOUT THE BAD GIRL'S LIFE.
WAS IT ABOUT HER LIFE AS THE BLOND GIRL, OR THE ROLE SHE PLAYED? I HAVEN'T WATCHED THE O.C. SHOW, BUT MIGHT JUST TO SEE HER AGAIN. EVERYONE IN THAT MOVIE WAS VERY GOOD.
WHAT HAVE YOU'VE BEEN WATCHING AND THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION ON THE FILM.

Yes, it's a very hard movie to watch. It was about Nikki's life as the blonde girl. She was the innocent one who got pulled into that world. It's funny that she played the bully in the film, isn't it?? I've been watching lots of movies each week. Tonight I'm going to see "Stay Alive", a new horror flick. I'm also gonna see "V For Vendetta."

Starting a new one soon...I think Queer as Folk season 5.

MASHA, IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE I'D SEEN " THE ROOM AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS" BUT IT WAS AN EXCELLENT MOVIE.
THE ENGLISH DO SUCH A GOOD JOB WITH CINEMA NOW AND THEN.
SIMONE SIGORET WAS AN OUTSTANDING ACTRESS AND I THINK I'VE SEEN MOST OF HER ENGLISH MOVIES. I KNOW SHE DID MOSTLY FRENCH,
BUT SHE WAS STUNNING.
Re: What Are You Watching???
MARTHA JEAN - 25.03.2006, 15:35
NIKKI REED DID AN EXCELLENT JOB IN HER ROLE, IT WAS ALMOST SCARY.
IT WAS GOOD THAT SHE COULD WRITE AND ACT IN OUT AND GET IT OUT OF HER SYSTEM.

RIGHT NOW I'M WATCHING THE MOVIE " BIG FISH" AND IT SEEMS LIKE A VERY GOOD FILM, BUT I'M HAVING TROUBLE WITH IT GETTING ALL DISTORTED IN PLACES AND SKIPPING. THIS REALLY ANNOYS ME CAUSE I MISS PARTS OF THE FILM.
IT CAME FROM THE LIBRARY AND MIGHT JUST HAVE TO GO BACK SOON.
I'LL TRY AND FIND IT SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Yes, Kuhn, I loved the character of Nick - he was my favorite
Re: What Are You Watching???
kuhnsbrat - 25.03.2006, 22:21
??Nick???
Nope for me it is Sam! I love the kid like manner of him. So goofy and yet wanting it!!
Nick to me was the loser, but Daniel was bigger at it for the whole show..well Nick came very close.
I liked Mitzie she was too real for bookworms and church girl.
Re: What Are You Watching???
Gina From Da Block - 25.03.2006, 22:48
SAM!! That's who I meant - he was the metal head, right??
Re: What Are You Watching???

Sam was Lindsay's younger brother, remember he got egged by Kim and Lindsay?
I just watched the show so it is fresh in the mind.
John Francis Daly

Well, that is what makes the world go round. It is a good thing to have your own opinion and choices.

He was the one that Lindsay was with when he tried for a drummer audition.
Still hunting around for the next series...queer as folk is not out yet. Should be soon.

I hear the next I should start with is nip and tuck for the show is pretty intense.
Look forward to more info here.

Re: What Are You Watching???
MARTHA JEAN - 01.04.2006, 15:35NO, SORRY BUT I THINK....
THIS MOVIE IS ONE I GOT FROM THE LIBRARY, ( I'M ON A REAL TIGHT BUDGET) AND I THOUGHT I'D SEEN QUITE A FEW OF THE OLDER FILMS BUT NEVER THIS ONE.
IT'S ABOUT AN UNSTABLE MEDIUM WHO GETS HER HUSBAND TO KIDNAP A CHILD TO PROVE THAT SHE'S A GOOD PHYCHIC. IT'S IN BLACK AND WHITE AND EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS FILM IS PARAMOUNT!!
VIEWING MANY FILMS FROM CHILDHOOD, MY OWN OPINION IS THAT THE ENGLISH ARE THE VERY BEST.
DO YOU EVER WATCH MASTERPIECE THEATRE ON SUNDAY NIGHTS?
MOSTLY ALL ENGLISH AND OUTSTANDING. LOVED WATCHING DRAMA'S ON ENGLISH TELE WHEN I WAS THERE. VERY, VERY GOOD.
Re: What Are You Watching???

Okay, but it's very hard to find - it's out of print now unless you can find it on e-bay. It's worth it to purchase it.

This is lame, but did you see that kid on the Sopranos Sunday night ?
He was at a club drinking with AJ and looked like he could be Mick's cousin, (chubby though) but he turned around and omigod, looked like he was from the same tribe......
no kidding....

Well, I finally got my courage up & went to see "United 93." Of course I bawled my eyes out all the way through it - brought back many horrid memories of that awful day. But, I urge everyone to see it, especially my fellow Americans. It's very important we never forget what happened or how it happened....

My favorite actor is coming back to my soap opera - Stephen Nichols will be returning to play "Patch" on "Days of Our Lives" & so will Mary Beth Evans as "Kayla." For those of you who follow soaps, Patch & Kayla were the "super-couple" of the 80's & 90's. This is such a great thing because the show hasn't been the same without them :top

Welcome back, Martha! Are you referring to the show "So You Think You Can Dance?"
Re: What Are You Watching???
MARTHA JEAN - 11.07.2006, 19:02
GINA, YES THAT WAS THE SHOW.
I'VE DECIDED TO CARVE OUT SOMETIME FOR WRITING IN THE SITE.
I TEND TO GET A BIT RATTY IF I DON'T COME IN AND WRITE ALL MY FRIENDS IN HERE.
I'M WATCHING THE COOKING SHOW, THE WIFE SWAP SHOW, THE DANCING SHOW AND WILL REALLY BE GETTING INTO BIG BROTHER WHEN IT COME OUT .
I GUESS I'M A VOUYER HUH? AMAZING TO WATCH OTHER HUMANS AND THIER OWN, PERSOANAL HABITS AND SUCH.
TRIED TO WATCH THE FIRST SERIES OF SIX FEET UNDER WITH THE GUY I'VE BEEN DATING. FROM THE FIRST SCENE HE JUST KEEP MAKING UNCOMFORTABLE COMMENTS ON ONE OF MY FAVORITE SHOW.
SO I ASKED HIM TO TURN OFF THE TUBE AND TOLD HIM I'D RATHER NOT WATCH THE SHOW WITH HIM.
I THINK I HURT HIS FEELINGS, BUT I REALLY CANNOT TOLERATE BAD COMMENTS WHILE I'M WATCHING ANYTHING. DRIVES ME NUTS!!

GINA,
I'VE BEEN WATCHING " AS THE WORLD TURNS" SINCE I WAS SEVENTEEN AND MY MOM WATCHED IT BEFORE ME.
I USED TO WATCH OTHERS WAY BACK WHEN, BUT FOUND THEM BORING AFTER A WHILE. BUT WITH ATWT, I HAVE RELATED TO THE CHRACTERS
THOUGHT OUT THE YEARS.
HEARING THAT THE ACTOR THAT PLAYED HAL KILLED HIMSELF REALLY MAKE ME SO SAD.
BEFORE THE REPEATS, I WATCHED THE SHOW WITH ALL THE DIFFERENT WOMEN LIVING AND LEARNING LIFE SKILLS. CAN'T REMEMBER THE NAME OF IT, BUT I MADE IT MY LITTLE, FREE THERAPY SESSION EVERY DAY.
JEANNE IS STILL NOT DOING HER DEED, BUT I LOVE HER SO MUCH.
IT'S A GOOD THING SHE'S SO DA GONE CUTE!!

Wow, Martha, that sounds like me regarding "Days Of Our Lives." I've been watching that for 18 years now & I've always loved Stephen Nichols who plays "Patch." I'll be meeting him next weekend at a fan club breakfast he's giving for us in California. Check out his website: http://stephennichols.net

DIANAD1 - 19.07.2006, 17:18Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations
Does anyone watch Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations on the Travel Channel? I just started watching it a few weeks ago since there is not much good TV on in the summer. It's usually on Mondays at 10PM. This show is a hoot and Anthony will eat just about anything! Think of the grossest dish you know of & he'll eat it. :hae
Anthony is a Best-selling author (maybe you have read his books), reluctant food celebrity guy (very much so), culinary adventurer (like I said he’ll eat anything that crawls), :clap drinker (yea you can say he can down a few kegs), :P smoker (seems like he never stops), hedonist (that’s why he so intresting) :devil ...the list of descriptors could go on and on. Bold & brash he tells you like it is. In the show he travels the world visiting far off exotic places as well a many cities in the states. It's very intresting to see all the different cultures, people, and places he visits and what the people like to cook & eat. I just love it!!! :D

Not sure if you still on here Martha but I remember seeing this movie a few years back. Jackson Pollack was a real jerk (I'd say something else but it's not nice) but I do like his art work. But it didn't think the movie was that bad & I thought Ed Harris played the part quite well. I wouldn't call this my favorite movie but I did like it.
