    Martjin,

Once upon a time there was a group of people who had lots of collections of music sitting on the floor. The music that was played the most was one of RED COLOR, one with a guy with lots of long red curls falling down the front of his face covering his blue eyes.

They tried to play the other music, but their ears kept their arms and hand reaching for the RED MUSIC, and now the guy had long red dreadlocks falling down his back and sometimes in a dreadlock ponytail. His colorful shirts didn't distract us from the colorful melodies and lyrics.

The other bandmembers were mysterious, they never appeared on the album covers, and their names and faces kept changing when you went to concerts.... you had to read the back of the album covers to discover who they were....they all made considerable contributions......

But that guy with the red hair's voice kept getting better and better and all the people with their music sitting on the floor, discovered that they could watch Videos on MTV and were able to fantasize about the guy.
The locals could catch a song or two if they were lucky....

Maybe Someday was the kicker. Oh, just to be that pretty woman in the video first on top, then under, then on top, then under, then........

Cassettes were invented and now people with the music on the floor could listen to this red man in their car and on portable cassette players that they could take with them everywhere....

But that was not good enough, now they could buy the red man's music on a new device called a DVD and a Walkman and they could travel everywhere listening to this special Simply Red music.

Now the car could play the DVD's and at home they bought Surround Sound and they could watch concert DVD's Live In London, and could envision being at the live concerts every night of the week. Why my gosh you could even inspect the dental work (and ruby.)

The sound was just as it was at the Lyceum Theater, and not once did the red man look into the camera during the entire concert DVD.

Then there was an abyss, a lapse of time, a lost weekend, a long space of time that was missing from our hearts...no new music, no concerts, no compositions, no sightings, no nothing. Where did he go ??? Would we ever hear that special voice, the harmonies of the girls, the compositions, the sax, the flute, the piano, the drums, the guitar, the horney horns, the brass, the total experience blazed into our minds and hearts ?

Then an explosion happened. Somebody wanted to go HOME.......
We all wanted HOME too.....and in 2003 we went HOME at SUNRISE.

We stopped being FAKE, and we new in our hearts it was US when we heard "IT'S YOU"....we all melted when we heard BRAND NEW and we could not get enough of the Sicily DVD performances....we all needed to learn Italian today.

All the while we got to know the current BAND members and loved their performances and got to know their individuality.....wow what a great band has evolved, and we even got to KNOW THEM.....yes yes yes...

Now many of us had had the opportunity to go to concerts and LIVE the magic and see the performances LIVE, some went many times (you dogs) and many purchased the LIVE CD's from their concerts.....

Many of us even got to meet each other...found out we all shared a common cell in our bloods that bonded us together, like we've know each other forever in the cosmos, shining STARS glowing in the universe with our light brightening the skies, shining on each other....

We all shared our stories about our fun on the website until one day it was DARK. We didn't see anyone anymore, we were lost, we were starved for the Red that we need to live, we missed each other..., we could not believe that our lifeline was discontinued....

The concert experiences, meeting one another, the travel, the traffic, the trains, the planes, (da money), the tickets, the performances, the after event stage door freezing, the after after after drinks, the homeward bound return trips home....all the stories vanished.....the heartbeats silenced....the shared memories silent and invisible....

We experienced CUBA in that glamourous theater via clips on the website, and waited forever for the DVD, and we had to learn to be Latin for a moment, purchasing Tacos and Burritos, wearing ruffled shirts and skirts (well, not you Martjin) and colorful fabrics, and rolling our R's when we spoke and sang. Certainly a concert was to come soon to you....

And we made sure our neighborhoods didn't put up any billboards so we could preserve our natural Cuban looking views.....organic.....

But we still kept clicking onto the SR website and there was nobody there, not even a message, not any new concert dates, all the liveblood we came to rely on and love and look for had vanished....

Everyday, Maybe Someday, Maybe Someday, Maybe Tomorrow.

Until Michi came up with this alternative substitute website for us all...

Omigosh.....Toto, the wizard brought us HOME !!! and he even made a stopover in CUBA just for a quick vacation and Latino dancing.

So we all lived happily ever after in SimplyRedLand, dreaming of beautiful partners, in love, forever, (with the hint of little feet dancing in the near future) to the rythum of the Latin beat, and a symphony of Red music...
all are listening to the mature quality vocals, the sweet harmonies of the girls, and the fantastic individually gifted band members to groove to ...

    FOREVER....FOREVER......FOREVER......

Good Night and Have A Wonderful Sunrise Tomorrow....

    Love,
Lin xxx twinkle twinkle little STARS....how I wonder...how you are ?

when you wake up you can see the entire story.

I had to post it in case the internet cut me off like it did last night.

Well, two out of three anyway Martjin...

Hope you had a good rest......

    Good Morning,

Oh my Lin this is a wonderful story, you are such a gifted writer.
Too bad I only read about it now when I'm wide awake again it sure
would make me sleep and dream nice.
I am sure Martijn and many other people love this.
To be honest I am thinking you should send this beautiful little piece of work to admin to let them know how we feel (as you put it in very accurate words) and maybe, maybe they can give us a hint if and when the forums and chat will be back and even if they come to perform in the US.
Isn't that a great idea that this fairytale gets a happy ending???
    :hug Yolanda :flower :clap

Very nice lil story ... wonder why it sounds so familiar? Did I read that book before? or am I in the middle of that same story?!? ...the never-ending story...

Thanx Lin, this was sooo nice to read. I wonder how this story will go on????

    x x x Michi

...they will live happily everafter... (need a kitschy happy end :devil)

    Re: Mikezu!!

    sasred - 19.01.2006, 07:38

Yep. Mikezu and Tijn, you got your story. And not a bad one at that. I know I'll be riding the groove on my Instant Live CD's forever...forever...forever...and remembering that signature smile that went with it. :D

How this story will end? It's neverending, I hope...for even when we all pass on, hopefully we'll have passed the flame to enough offspring of our own or of friends/family that love of this music will go on through the generations. It's certainly timeless enough.

And in the meantime, we've got a year ahead of us with much more RED fun in store...I know I'm looking forward to it. I thought '05 rocked my socks that way, but I have a feeling '06 will be even better. Just a hunch. *huge grin slowly spreading across face, and a wink in Dubwise's direction*

Love this band. Love my fellow fans. Over and out. :D
