CUBA! is dropping here finally!! My copy arrived today, got the e-mail notice of ship on Saturday or Sunday, can't remember which now.
Amazon RAWKS. :D
That said, I know that ship date depends on when you ordered--I ordered my copy December 1st, but Liz's on the 4th, and hers is not due to drop for another week. Guess they got a bit backordered.
Which tells me there's still more North American SR support than their management give us credit for.
We need to storm the offices one time. *laughs*
Better yet, get a convention together next year and show them just how many people show up!!!!! :twisted:

They e:mailed me that mine would be here Saturday, but if it is not it will be Tuesday because Monday is a postal holiday.....
So cross your fingers that I get it tomorrow, because if I do, they are predicting a rainy snowy mix day and I will curl up with my DVD all weekend.

I know being a Simply Red fan is pretty much about patience - even here in Europe. Yet the most patient Simply Red-fans in the world must be from America (the North, the South and everything between) and from Australia.

I know the fans are here, just wish they could show their numbers.
Even with all the music competition for ears (so much music+media) and SR trying not to be all "music industry business" focused,
the NUMBERS still count when it comes to music sales..... "bottom line".
We may have as much love over here for Simply Red as in Europe, and music sales are the only measurement tool that is visable unfortunately.
We're here, we're here, honest.....

Thanks for the kind words, Michi...it is indeed a different experience on this side of the water. Combine lack of press with lack of cooperation from management, and we're the last to know anything. Smart SR fans over here make friends with UK/Europe fans fast, it's the only way to stay in the loop.
Or just find one of us old dogs from the SRIS days... :D
Wish I didn't have to be the one to break the news about the canceled U.S. tour though, after finding out from one of the venues...having to let down fellow fans as anxious as myself SUCKED... :cry:
Just shows you how good the music is to have people put up with so much. :D

Yeah that's true, luckily we are picking up on some of the satelite radio feeds that you can hear in the malls and grocery stores that feature not only album versions, but remixes too.
I was excited to see that a review I gave Barnes & Noble Booksellers posted my review of CUBA I submitted back in November, and they just released the DVD this week for sale, so if you go into their barnesandnoble.com site and go into DVD's for Simply Red Cuba, you can see 2 reviews, one from a publisher, and the other from us....
Another 3 seconds of fame ! The other when when I sent a review of HOME to USA TODAY Edna Gunderson and she published it at the top of her "blog" list under NEW MUSIC....and she even made her own post about how Simply Red doesn't get enough airplay over here !!!

When that DVD finally does arrive I want to see it announced on it's own topic - can't believe you have had to wait sooooo long , is there anything I can do to help from here , like go and buy you one and post it to you!!
Presumably you are waiting for one that is the right region (trying to sound like I am not blonde now) but I know that when friends have visited the us they come back with loads of dvd's cos they are cheap and they never have problems playing them, so I don't understand the problem the other way round
Anyway hope it won't be too long now!

The "Cuba" DVD is beyond fabulous. We used it to christen a dear friend's new AV system: surround sound with 52" HDTV screen. After that, all my friend said they completely understood why I felt it was necessary to go overseas to catch 5 shows.
Now, they are counting the days with me until SR arrives on US soil once more.

Very cool. These DVD's (and the Instant Live CD's) are best appreciated through a good stereo system...
It isn't like being there, but it's the next best thing. :wink:
