The 2006 Montreux Jazz Festival goes from 30 June to 18 (or 15) July. So still plenty of time for SR to be added to the line up. Final line up is announced in April. And what a great occasion to promote a new album.
    :rock

We can only hope. I might even consider myself available for Montreux, if it happens.

    Hi Jo Joe,
Well I'm not German but the first gig is in Holland so I reply to your question.
The above mentionend Dutch gig is a festival so Simply Red is a part of it.
I do happen to know that Simply Red is the last group to perform and they perform a normal show as they always do.
If you want to go to Germany I am sure everyone overthere speaks english so you shouldn't have to worry.
    Go for it girl!

As far as I understood these gigs are not part of a big show however they are open air and most of them only standing. I will definitely go to the Bonn gig and maybe to Hannover and Gelsenkirchen as well. The last Simply Red open air in Bonn (August 2003) was just fantastic! It was a hot day and night and we all sweat like animals  and the music was making it even hotter.

    emily - 01.02.2006, 17:15

Carol, you are more than welcome. I am glad I could be of assistance. Must admit I was a bit panic stricken when I was getting the Cardiff tickets as it would not process the order (thought I may have exceeded credit card limit at that point as I had already ordered Petworth and Bath!!) but luckily it was a typical Ticketmaster error. Carol, will post booking confirmation etc in post tonight, not sure whether they will be posted to my address or not, if so we will be meeting up earlier on the day anyway so I can always give them to you then.

    what a disaster
I was profoundly annoyed by the cardiff thing, same not processing mallarky, over and over again so i gave up in the end. the website wasn't even working in the afternoon. haha, simply red in cardiff and i won't be seeing them. haha, but i ain't paying forty quid to sit in the back of coopers field anyway. In fact, i've never paid to go into that field in my life...i might do the glastonbury thing and break in

if you girls need tips to stay, eat and all that just ask. i am a native.

    Hi Michi,
Sorry because the links is in F or in NL, but it worse it !!
    hug to u

    TW Classic [Nieuw]
    Plaats: Festivalsite, Werchter
    Website: http://www.twclassic.be

    ARSENAL

    13u00 > 13u50
    ROXY MUSIC
    14u30 > 15u45
    SIMPLE MINDS
    16u30 > 17u45
    SIMPLY RED
    18u30 > 19u45
    STING
    20u30 > 22u05
    BRYAN ADAMS
    22u50 > 00u25

de deuren van het festivalpark openen om 11u30

    BRYAN ADAMS
“Everywhere I go, the kids wanna rock”.

    SIMPLY RED

    ROXY MUSIC

    ARSENAL

Absolutely no word on a U.S. tour...but as soon as any of us gets wind of anything, we'll be sure to post it here. In the meantime, if you have the funds, time, and inclination, I would encourage seeing one of the European gigs this summer...this band does not disappoint, it's worth the trip. And they may not tour over here this time out, it's always a crapshoot... :?

Will cross my fingers for a Stateside run though. :top

Sorry, not sure about Lucca! I just saw that they edited the News from March 18th and deleted Lucca from the tour section. :? Maybe it's not yet confirmed and the information was too early?!?

There's precedent for them shifting the summer dates around right up to the tour...I'm crossing my fingers that no one here who's already booked gets their date(s) cancelled... :?

And Sabine, if you read this...I know SR have a huge following in Italy, but I notice that hardly any Italian folks participated on the official forums, and I don't see any here either so far. Is there a reason they don't want to join in with the rest of us? Just wondering if there's a way we can make them feel more welcome...we don't need to segregate ourselves, we're ALL SR fans.

    Tour dates 2006
    Hi all,
Does anyone know what's happening at sr.com. A date for Lucca on 30th July was added on 18th March along with a date for Bratislava. I've just checked for any new items added to the News section and all references to the Lucca date have disappeared. Also noticed that either Shannon or Michi have marked it with red question marks in the list here too. Seems you two are just as puzzled as me (scratching head in bewilderment :!: )

    Edited 23.3.
Apologies folks, when I posted this I hadn't read the messages by Shannon and Michi.

*scratches head* Is anyone else seeing any rhyme or reason to these tour dates? 'Cause if they are, I'd like it pointed out to me. All this zigzagging back and forth across the continent, in the dead of summer--that's gonna be hell on the band and crew. Going to the German Concerts!
Well, I knew it was only a matter of time before I broke down and made the decision to go to a couple of the 2006 concerts. Mica and I have been chatting back and forth about the tour and I mentioned "maybe..." and she responded "Surely...." and I said "What the Hell.....why not!!!!" So, in the space of 30 minutes or less, I had my air travel finalized, hotels booked and tickets to the shows in Berlin and Freiburg!"

Can't wait to see Mica again and to catch up with many of the others I met in Dublin , Manchester, and London.

Jo Joe, I would love to get to finally meet you. My German is really bad but you don't really need it and they are very forgiving. Please come to Germany.

Sabine! I have a FABULOUS photo of you and Ian outside of Albert Hall. It's really terrific. Email me and I'll send it to you. Please come to at least one of the two shows I'll be attending and we can chat to our heart's content!

I know I must be certifiably insane to travel that far to go stand outside in the heat (my least favorite thing to do in the entire world) but I keep telling myself three things:
    1) Simply Red is Simply Worth It!
    2) Meeting up with all of the SR Fans is absolutely worth it!
    and
    3) No matter how hot it gets in Germany, it will never be as hot as it is right here in Texas!!!!!!!

    Only 18 weeks to go!

    Peace and Joy (and delirium!)
    karen

That's a good decision! I'm sure you won't regret it! 'though I've never been to Freiburg myself I'd say Berlin and Freiburg are both absolutely worth travelling to - even without a Simply Red concert

Ah Sabine. I'm sitting here romantising the 2003 Montreux Jazz Festival I went to and toying with the idea of ducking over for the 2006 Montreux Jazz Festival. 2003 was just fantastic. Enjoyed every moment of it. And the anticipation for the three hours before hand. Well, words just don't do it justice.

However, I sit here on a Sunday with the colour swatched for the new kitchen, thinking of the new floor coverings. And wondering just how silly am I being considering a very brief trip for Montreux. It brings tears to my eyes.
