Hello all!
Since the Q & A with Steve went down so well on the old boards, and since I couldn't pull up any interesting Web pages on our esteemed keyboardist, thought I'd start a thread for everyone to post questions to Dave. I'll kick it off with a few, then everyone chime in and ask Dave whatever you'd like to know about him--about the music, his hobbies, whatever. As on the Steve topic, keep it respectful (naturally!) and keep the personal banter to a dull roar so he doesn't have so much to wade through. Cheers!! :D
I'll start with some standards:
--How old were you when you started playing? Was piano your first instrument or was it something else?
--Do you play any other instruments now?
--What were some of the other projects you worked on, and when?
--How do you feel your playing has improved over the years? Are there any techniques you'd still like to learn?
--Who did you most enjoy working with? Who would you still LIKE to work with?

Seen you with your son in London and wondered how you manage to keep the family life up and running while youre on tour.
it's hard to combine family and job in any other job as well, but guess when travelling for month it must be much harder... ?!

How did you come to Simply Red?
What are your favourites? ...band, music style, song, singer/songwriter, musician...
Any embarrassing mishap you remember being on stage?
Favourite place to spend your holidays? (You can keep this global, we don't want to know the exact hotel :wink:)
Do you remember the first record you bought? Would you still listen to it today?
Do you like the music your kids listen to? Or is it just noise for your ears? (I remember my daddy used to tell me to turn down the sound :shock: ... but does that make any sense when you're listening to "Living on the Edge" by Aerosmith?????)

Why did you leave the Annie Lennox band, are you still in touch ?
How is the progress with the school, is it all rebuilt now ?
Who is the easiest to travel with on tour ?

*giggle* Bladesman is Dave's nickname...it has to do with the soccer team he supports. (Sheffield United??? *cringes, in case she's wrong*) WHAT it means, you'd have to ask him. He LOVES talking football (as they call it over there and everywhere else in the world!!), so I think he'd be happy to clarify.
And since I figured he'd get asked a ton of stuff, I thought it would turn into a "grilling" session.
Hence "Grill Bladesman". :D

I was in contact with you over sending books to the school library but sadly my old email address died horribly and went to somewhere mean (I sincerely hope). Anyway, the boxes are now gathering dust, I am not sure whether to sell them and send you the money or post them. Problem is i'm going to live in Tenerife for at least six months come April ,and I don't want to throw them in la bin! H i Everyone...sorry i have been absent for a while..
I have been busy doing AMPLIFIED and my own outfit.PRESSURE ZONE.
(product and website 2 weeks away hopefully on pressurezone.co.uk)
I am lookin forward to the summer tour and i sincerely hope that the album is so succesful that we can extend the tour to further a field in the coming year (2007) it will be done if it is financially viable trust me!!.
I will try to answer your questions if i can...alternativly you could leave them on the pressure zone website..even now during construction there is a contact e mail..i will deal with them all personally!
finally Sheffield United are causing me extreme stress..as they are so close to promotion to the premier league!!
hope they make it!!
could be a good owmen for all if we do!!
i have waited years to see them achieve something like this!!

Nice to see you again! Looks like you were pretty busy! Can't wait to see you all again this summer! Most likely I will go to the concerts in Gelsenkirchen and Hannover. As these dates have switched now I hope I won't drive in the wrong direction (worst case scenario) :shock:
Not so sure about Bonn anymore. Nicole, a very close friend of mine who lives in Bonn and wanted to go to the concert with me, told me a few weeks ago that she is pregnant. She will be in the 8th or 9th month in August... Yeah, but I am very happy for her :-D
You mentioned football. Sorry, I don't know ANYTHING about that :oops: But one question: Will you have some time to watch the World Cup 2006 this summer? Maybe even in the stadium? I recognized that the tour start will overlap with the finals! So maybe it's better, the English team will drop out of the game early :devil :P ...sorry, couldn't resist :wink:

Looking forward to seeing you and the rest of the band in July, naturally...:top We'll do what we can to rally support for Amplified to maybe extend that tour a bit. :wink: The album sounds like it's gonna be a barnburner, so it shouldn't be much work for us!
