We've all seen various previous postings of lust, trust, crust, must, dust, bust... on the SR Forums.... always by the usual suspects........!!
...Boring and predictable !!!!
Would pray all private wishes were granted, all secrets blossomed, all desires experienced... (musically of course)..... (hehehehe)
Any contributions of a moment of time from any or all of these talented artists would be savored, appreciated, and celebrated....(just would wish somebody could tape the memories for me) while we enjoy ourselves together in what ever activity we decided to persue.
Would be happy to just sit on the porch steps together with any one of them, talking about Da Music, past and future projects, sipping a glass of wine and looking up at the Stars......with the STARS....

Oh this is a hard one. :doh
What I would really love to do is sit in on a rehersal and just watch and listen to everyone. See how they work out a song, banter about this and that with the music etc. I just can't imagine the fun they have while playing and singing together. And to sing back up with the girls would be just fab! Not that I can sing but hey ~ we are dreaming right?
They all just seem to have such respect for each other and function like a big family. Too see them as "real" everyday people instead of the famous ones they are while working would be great. A day of shopping with the girls would be beyond fun. And maybe a workout with Dee :) Of course to end the day with Mick singing a song of my choice would be nice too!

Watching them work, that's exactly what I thought when I read the question. Watching them doing rehearsals, soundchecks, or recording the next new album. I would love to see the progress... how a song develops during a jam session and another finds its way into the wastebasket. I would just sit there watching and listening... they wouldn't even recognize me being there :D
And then I would absolutely love a sax lesson by Ian 8) Yes, he's my hero! ...and in the late evening I'd like to take a cup of tea or a glass of wine with Mick and pester him with questions :D ...but that's if I weren't that shy :oops:

Do you play sax Michi? Ian is incredible I agree :) I think just watching them do their thing would be so amazing. I could watch Dave's fingers for hours on those keys, and to hear Chris on the flute~ heaven. Of course you throw in the horns~I've got a things for trombones! The bass and drums~ thumping out a tempo. They way they work their magic when all combined it what I love. Of course there is the voice! I wonder if he is one who sings along to the radio all the time?

Yep, you're right, they are all fabulous. And I'm not saying it to suck up to anyone. It's so great to hear this band live... so professional and yet so passionate. It's so hard to pitch on someone saying he's the best... but if I had to say who my favourite is I'd say Mick and Ian. (Dave comes verrrrry close... and the Lewinsons... and ... oh, I hate to be unfair to all the others... they are all brilliant.)
Yes, I started playing the sax when I was 16 or 17... I was so hooked on the solos of Thrill Me, Something Got Me Started etc. ... I simply had to convince my parents allowing me to take lessons (had to buy the instrument from my own money that I put aside)
I'm far away from being as talented as Ian and I am way too lazy (just the moment that I am writing this I eventually wanted to practice my sax a lil bit :oops:) However it's good fun to play and I'm still wanting to play in a small band or orchestra (just as hobby). We used to have a Big Band called "Ossi and the crazy horns" some years ago and it was sooo much fun. Sadly it broke when many of us had to move while beginning to study at the university :cry:

I'm liking the answers so far, they're really thought out. I too would like to sit in on rehearsal sometime and watch the magic unfold. I'd be watching each person closely as I'm a musician myself (ex-and aspiring, it really never leaves you though :D ), so I'm interested in the more technical end of it--how those sounds get produced.
But the answer I had in mind when I posted this...
Take a stroll through Hampstead Heath in springtime (when all the new life is abloom!) with Steve...just talking and taking in the nature, having a chill day. Then dinner at a Japanese restaurant so he can take me through the sushi bar and explain what everything is to me--I'm always too chicken to try 'cause I don't know what I'll be eating. (But I have no problem trying out the different grilled dishes. Go figure.) :oops:
Oh, and play a lil' bass with him in there somewhere too...always good to get tips from a master. :top
*shrug* In short, just hang out for a day and have fun. :D

I played the piano from age 6 thru high school. I played in Jazz band and loved being the only girl in the group. Dated a trombone player at one time, a drummer at another :D LOL. I really haven't played since then as I went off to school and then you have thehusband and kids taking your time :) Every now and the I get on and dabble~ but listening to Sad Old Red on my Live in Dublin CD I told my husband, "now that is what I loved playing back then" So thats why I love Dave. I also played clarinet, flute and some sax in school and loved that as well.
I recall hearing SR back in 1985 as I was graduating high school and my first thought was "wow, who is this singing" and the next thought was "great use of a band" at a time when everyone was into synth and programmed music. SR won my heart back then. And all these years they have held my interest~ off and on at times but never the less there.
Anyway~ comes a dream.......thanks for making me recall some good times from the past.

Oh this must be PETE!
And Steve of course! Without the rythm section a band is nothing, and they are THE VERY BEST!
Listen to Steve playing his bass, how melodic! That´s just incredible!
And listening to Pete makes you very aware that there are indeed different sounds of snares and tomtoms and hihats n stuff!
What they have been doing on HOME and SIMPLIFIED is amazing!
Can´t get enough of "Something for you" and "Smile" and so on...
Mick said AMPLIFIED will be more Rock and Uptempo and Organic - I just can´t wait to see them guys live onstage!

Thank YOU for telling us some more about yourself! Another musician in the ranks...seems like this band attracts a lot of people with good ears. :-D Glad you had so many good memories attached to your music years...why not recapture that fire? That's what I'm doing...played trombone for 9 years through 1st quarter of college (the FIRST time around :oops: ), dabbled in bass in high school. But I found myself over the last 12 years missing it more and more as time went on...I knew I needed to get back on an instrument. Meanwhile, this last year and a half, I rediscovered SR as well after a hiatus from the fandom. I took in Home for the first time...LOVED what I heard...and Steve's excellent playing on there made me really realize how much I love a decent bass sound.
The rest, as they say, is history...my amp arrived today to complete my setup.

I don't blame him for wanting to do it again. And it seemed like Steve wanted to do it too, from what he said on the old boards... :-D
But I give props to Tijn for not bragging it up...he got the chance of a lifetime, but he's kept a cool head about it. You notice he didn't mention the previous encounter. Not because he's unappreciative (he treasures that day greatly!!), but because he wants to keep it as it was intended to be...just two guys hanging out and playing some bass. Man to man, not fan to celebrity.
Much respect to them both. :top Would be honored to join the jam sometime.

Hanneke, you are an unbelievable tease. Why bring it up if you're not going to tell the story? Given the circumstances, I can see why you wouldn't want to share, but then why get people curious? That's not being very cool toward the band member in question, kinda puts him in an awkward position, don't you think?

Spending time immersed emotionally through lyrics, vocals and music transports us into dimensions we didn't know could exist....
The performers do make a difference, just as actors take you on a journey initiating stories, creating locations, feeling time and experiencing essence.......musicians bend our minds, meld our emotions, melt our hearts, heal our souls, soothe our bodies.....
Being in the same place at the same time, face to face with anyone of these fine people would be an honour and pleasure....they've given themselves to us, in permanent media form, so we can enjoy them however, whenever, where ever, and as many times as we want...
So, tonight it's gonna be................................

I'd love to host the entire band here in Austin. I'd take them out to eat some of the finest Mexican food and/or barbecue in the universe. And, yes, there's plenty of great vegetarian options.
If it was warm enough (and it almost always is) I'd take them tubing down the Guadalupe river in New Braunfels. We'd just float along in our tubes and chill out for a few hours. Then, back to Austin to watch the bats leave the bridge at sunset or out to The Oasis to have a few and watch the sun set on the hill country and the lakes.
Followed by, an evening/night of cruising many of the fantastic music venues here to get a real feel for the Austin music scene. Including cruising 6th street to catch some of the nightlife.
Finally, breakfast at about 4:30 AM at Magnolia Cafe to get the real Austin vibe and see the creatures of the night as they end their day and the rest of the Austin types as they start theirs.
Hopefully, a pleasant and memorable break in a grueling touring schedule. Just my way of saying "Thank you" for all of the great music.

If i could spend a day with a SR member,i guess that i would choose for the ladies in the compagnie,and just doing girlsstuff :shopping,talking i think they are very interresting and have a lot to tell.
and putting them for once really in the spotlights,because they are both fantastic singers and i have a deep respect for them.
