How did you see in the New Year?
Happy new year to everybody, seeing as we are spread all around the world how did you all see the new year in? Were you in some dramatic wild place doing exciting things?

I was in my local village pub with my ex-husband as we are both on our own now and then came home at midnight to be with my son who was more interested in watching Kaiser Cheifs on Jools Holland show! We stood in the garden for ages watching some brilliant fireworks from the posh houses, answered tons of text messages from mates then to my bed.
    Love Sue xx

    Anybody else?

Nothing really dramatic, wild or exciting here. I was with some of my friends and we had a small private party of only 6 people. We had raclette and afterwards a Feuerzangenbowle - *lekker-lekker*... very yummy
Of course at midnight we went out and watched the fireworks in our town.
It was a jovial night :-D

    Hi Michi
I looked up what you had - raclette is cheesemelted on potatoes and other veg like a fondue? and the feuerzangenbowle is a 'flaming fire punch'!! Sounds nice and warming

Hi Everyone ! Happy New Year !!

We usually go to a posh country club filled with glitzy people wearing tuxedos for the men and women in fancy glittery long dresses, spiked high heels, and designer purses so small you wonder what's in them.

A friend of ours belongs to the club and invites 4 other couples and it includes 2 hours of free drinks, appetizers like shrimp cocktail, bacon wrapped scallops, fancy crackers and dips, little meatballs, caviar, cheeses, fruits, pickles, olives, little finger sandwiches, spicy chicken on a long toothpick with sweet island sauces, well - it's enough to fill up on.

Then comes the sit-down dinner complete with tall candles and a flower centerpiece on the tables, oh yes, and all the New Year's Eve decorations like noise makers, bells, whistles, balloons, confetti, flying ribbons that you pop from a little paper holder, and of course N.Years HATS for the guys and Tiara's with long feathers for the girls.

The dinner begins with a small soup, then a gourmet salad, then you have your choice of beef or fish or chicken, and 3 kinds of potato, 2 vegetables, and hot rolls and butter.

The desserts are also huge, you could have Black Forrest Cake, or Strawberry Cheesecake, or Creme Brule (like a pudding).

Then the band plays until 1 AM and the girls fall asleep in the car while the guys talk while driving back home.

But guess what ? This year our friend was flying to Hilton Head South Carolina for a party with her husbands family, so none of us went to the country club this year !! Awhhhhhhh.....

But we still had fun, we went to a really nice restaurant with a huge fireplace and an equestrian theme (horses), it was all wood and leather bridles and leather saddles displayed on the walls, English style, not Western type, and we had a very nice 3 course meal after first meeting at one of our friends houses....who was going with is......and who just purchased one of those new 50" plasma TV's....

I thought the guys would watch football instead of going out ! Well they served all the appetizers at their home, shrimp dip, little quiches of different flavors, crackers and cheese.....

No wonder we are all going on diets for 2006 !!

    Happy New Year !!
    Love,
    Lin xxx LOL

    Hey, Sue!!
Yeah, I think I left my head in England sometimes, that whole trip was just overwhelming!! But I'm ready and willing to do it again!! Too much fun was had for me to not repeat the offense. Hopefully next time I'll be able to meet a few band members...*blushes*

And the hot tub--yeah, I thought that was cool. Quiet but classy. Kinda the way I see this year going. Good things ahead, I feel it. :D

    Heya, LinSki!
Good to see you posting too! I need to get some of the rest of the board nutz over here. Lots of familiar faces here already.

There's one familiar face (well, a few actually) I'd really like to see here, but don't know how on earth to go about an invite at this point!!!!

    Bugger that website. :(
