Dave is selling stuff @ eBay again
Just have a look: Dave @ eBay

It's still for the good cause. You remember the Waldorf School in London he told us about. Lets see if there's still a lil Christmas bonus left to waste

Yes, saw that. Tried bidding on the itineraries--I'd like to know what the other person's max bid is at, 'cause it's getting crazy!!!

For anyone curious, all passes are Dave's. No other band members or Mick. Still definitely worth going after, he's a great guy. I'll try but don't know if I'll be successful.

I just placed some bids but I think I'm already out of that game. Nevertheless nice to see the rise in prices :devil

Yeah, I think Dave will raise some good cash this round. Good on him.

I was fortunate enough to win something in a previous round of auctions from him. He's great to work with.

    Great !
Yeah, we have to remember over here that
the Sterling Pound is worth double our Dollar
so if you think you are paying $50, be careful !!
    Love,

I'm all too familiar with the conversion rate these days...and the percentage my credit card swats me every time I order from overseas. :D

Waiting until the auctions are close to end, I have to watch my spending--just dropped $350 (half my monthly income) on a bass amp off eBay!!!!! :rock

eBay is the devil's work. :devil

But hey, Dave's auctions are for an awesome cause. It's worth it.

will give it a try on the last hours of bidding.....but i'm afraid i already spent to much money on sr-concerts during the last half year and THAT was really worth all my pennies!!!!!!!!!!

We need to be fair and not snipe each other...I was thinking about also going after the single Simplified pass (the group of passes has gone too high), and right now I'm the high bidder for the itineraries at a hair over 50 pounds. Everything else I'm leaving alone, if that helps... :-D

I wonder just who is that "clumsyonetwo" anyway...they've got bids in on everything. I suspect it's one of our board buddies, they're registered in the UK...

If it's anyone here, fess up, c'mon. :D

I wish you good luck for the itineraries. (<-- new word for me :D ... always learning)
    Sounds interesting.
    I don't have a clue who that clumsyonetwo :alien might be yet I'm pretty sure we know that person from another place called simplyred.com :-}

Thanks, Michi! This person wants them badly...you should see how high the bidding's getting. But I think I may be wearing down their reserve... :devil

    Dave's probably sitting back and grinning. :-}

In the immortal words of Bugs Bunny: "Of course you realize this means war!!!" :D

Are you going to up the ante on anything before the auctions shut? A few have finished already...

Back to the eBay mind games... :-D

No, I think I'm really out of that game. You know the next tour is right on it's way and I will spend a few €€€€ there I think.
... and I decided to renovate my bedroom a lil bit. ... means another lot of €€€€€€€ ... new furniture, new floor, new wallpapers ... and getting rid of the old stuff

Aw, that's too bad on the SR stuff...yeah, the memorabilia auctions always go for mad money. The thing I won last time was just a book on pop music.

But that's cool that you're redoing your bedroom! I'd love to help--interior decorating gets me excited! :-D You'll have to show us pictures.

My problem is that I can't really decide what I want. And the thought that I have to get rid of all this old stuff brings me kinda nightmares :? Can you imagine mountains of "rubbish" coming out of cupboards and drawers  To toss away isn't easy *gulp*

I know all too well the pain of throwing away. And you'd think, for as often as I've had to move house, that I'd be a lot more motivated to do it (what doesn't get tossed has to be packed, moved, and unpacked again!!). But I'm a packrat!! I admit this!! :D

Hmmm...well, for redecorating, start with the basics: what are your favorite colors? What woods/wood finishes do you like? Go to a local store that stocks decorating stuff and just look around--see what moves you. Take notes. Pick several things, and coordinate them from there.

The goal of the auction is to raise money for the Waldorf School. Everyone should be able to participate in the auction and bid whatever they want, whenever they want.

Re: Dave is selling stuff @ eBay again

    sasred - 07.01.2006, 21:27

I understand the cause, it is a very worthy one and I have contributed to it a couple of times now. I was simply speaking of my fellow registered users of this forum, most of us know each other from the official boards and know each other's financial limitations. We all want to see Dave do well for the Waldorf School, but if we can share the spoils instead of compete with each other for them (sort of a "I'll let you win this one if you let me win this other one"), why not? We're all fans and none of us is greater/more deserving than another.

But you're right. It is a public auction, there's more than just us looking at those items, and I am well-familiar with the free-for-all that is eBay. I've been a registered member there for almost 8 years. If you are bidding on any of the items, good luck...may the fastest fingers and deepest pockets win.

The kids deserve every pence we can give.

    Dave's Auctions
Well, I really hope we aren't going to have a big pissing contest at the end of the day. I am seriously considering bidding on an item or two since I missed out last time. I just haven't come to terms with which item I want most and what my budget will bear. I'll make the final decision closer to the end of the bidding but others may run the prices up so much that the decision will be made for me before that time comes.

No matter what, as long as it is a real fan and not someone out to resell at a profit and the funds go to benefit the kiddies, I'll just "ditto" what SASRED wrote. EBAY has brought me much joy and grief over the past years but Simply Red has brought me nothing but joy.

    Dave's Auction
Yup. Someone named "Mona" from Germany outbid everyone for everything in the last few seconds of each auction. That's the way it goes. At least SASRED and I made sure they didn't go cheaply and the kids got some good money for their school. That's the most important thing.

    Hi
If I am right then I think that Mona is of 'Mona and Josy' from Germany who came to the Redmick conventions in 2004. They have been very supportive of Daves' appeal and donated some beautiful cushions and rugs from their business for him to sell the first time he did it.
If I am wrong then correct me please!

I'll bet he was. I've already put a bid in on the next item he's got up, let's see if I can snag THAT. If not, I'll just send him some funds anyway--what I'm willing to part with if I win. 'Cause he's a really cool guy. :top

    Dave's Auction
SASRED, I was looking at the item you have bid on and I'm staying out so I won't be competition for you. The few items I have won from Dave's auctions, I have "bumped up" the payment to what my maximum bid was regardless of the final auction price. Dave's a great guy and a great Dad.
I saw Dave's son at RAH (VV Cute) and met Mrs. Dave there, as well. Didn't meet the littlest Davelet but they are a lovely family for certain. I'm glad that the SR fans have been able to show our support for him and his endeavors
If Mona donated items to the auction then I guess I'll just go pull those pins out of that little doll I made. (Just kidding...)

    Peace and Joy!

Aw, you don't have to stay out on my account--I don't even care if you throw in a bid just to up the price--I know what I'm willing to part with. :D
How old are his kids? And there's a Mrs.? I wasn't sure if there was or not, have gotten conflicting information.

Voodoo doll? Wanna borrow my authentic one from NOLA? *evil laugh* Seriously, though, that's cool that she donated that much...sounds like this is an important cause for her. And you're right, it's good to see SR fans and the band acting like a family and looking out for one another. :-D

    Shannon,

I think Dave said his son is 14 and his daughter is 10-12 years old. I can't recall exactly. Mrs. Dave was outside the stage door at RAH the last night of the shows there. Our seats were orchestra for all of the shows so we entered and exited at the stage door entrance. This allowed us to see Dave, Ian, and a few others when they arrived and departed each evening.

Dave's son looks much like Dave and also much like Mrs. Dave. He is really a good-looking young man. He even posed for a photo with his Dad. I suspect that someone has the picture somewhere. I spoke briefly with Mrs. Dave. She is a very lovely woman and also very patient and sweet. She was very gracious and good natured about all of the crazy fan behavior.

The Waldorf School is the school where his daughter attends and perhaps his son, as well. That's one of the reasons he is such a staunch supporter of their re-building fund.

I'm an heir to the estate of Jean LaFitte. He died without fathering any children and his estate went to his brothers and sisters, one of whom is an ancestor of mine. I receive an annual check (very small) for oil and mineral rights on his land. So, I am all over the voodoo situation, if you know what I mean. So, I took those pins out before they got to working their magic.

    Hey, Karen...
Thanks for all the info. Yeah, I knew at least one of his kids went to the Waldorf School, I might have to check out more about it sometime and see what sort of curriculum they have, etc. I'm all about education--a good mind is a terrible thing to waste. I've been fortunate to attend some very good schools in my time and know how important they are to someone's future. (My brother received the opposite, unfortunately...big family issue. But hey.)
That's great that Mrs. Clayton's able to roll with the punches, every fandom has a few loose cannons in it. I'd like to think I'm on a pretty even keel...but I suppose you'd have to ask certain band members what THEY think...*laughs* I just see our guys as human beings trying to earn a living like everyone else. They're just really good at what they do, and they're super sweet people to boot. Can't ask for more than that. We're blessed with a fantastic group of musicians. (And mostly cool fellow fans as well.) :top

Funny you mention Jean LaFitte--the shirt LizSki got me from NOLA is from a jazz club named in his honor. It was the only one she could find with trombones on it--I was a 'bone player back in the day for a number of years. :D So you definitely have the pedigree--and you understand the power of mojo. :devil :D

Me, I'm a believer in karma...when I get good karma, I try to turn it 'round and do something extra good for someone else. My karma's been the best of my life since about August...now I'm trying to earn that blessing.

its time for reinventing old wisdoms Shannon. we are milleniums away from Buddha. Time calls for new teachings the air cries for it can`t you just smell it in it
on the Buddah note for example , how good are you at him, does this precept about desires by him mean that he who feels well in and outside oneself is exempt of any desires? can such a species be considered a human being at all then. and does he have anything valuable to say about justice (lol its my one desire so i`m a bit curious)

Nice. Well, we know one of the tours he worked on now. :D

I should go spread the word when I'm on LiveJournal later; am connected with a lot of British music fans on there (can't think why 8) ); I think there might be a George fan or two in the lot...let 'em go have fun.

Your comprehension of my comprehension, Karen, is totally wrong. so far my eloquence only has served to cover up for my lack of comprehension and a wish to engage people more fully into what haunts my mind. But they usually, like yourself have, are misconceiving the character of what I say. but so probably am I of what you say as well.
No, still havent got over your remark. You are right. But you were again tota;lly wrong calling me that

So Buddha was sure he weilded the minds of all and everyone? I`ll never trust an opinion of somebody as conceited.
