    Distribution of wrackage
    Hi all,

here I have a overview of the current distribution of aircraft parts from crash site of Wellington Z1292.
Every found from aircraft was saved with GPS, evaluated and plottet with a special programm.

The area of this wrackage have a size of 150 meter x 200 meter. It is sure that the aircraft exploded during the attempt of a forced landing from the north east direction. Of an area of 250 meter x 250 meter the ground was checked for wreckage.

You can see it is a non typical distribution for a exploded aircraft. The distribution is much longer as wider. Even if the aircrafts slips over the ground before exploding, it is a non typical distribution !
Last year I had investigated this area the first time, this year I investigated the area again, but I can´t find more parts in the outer zone.

Maybe someone have an idea to interpred it ?
Why is the dristibution longer as wider ?

    Regards

    Nils

    Nils,

what type of bombs were on board?.
do you know for sure that it still had its bombs?
as there would have been more than one bomb i would expect the pattern to be the opposite of what youve found.
could it have been the fuel that blew up?
this pattern looks similar to one i have found from a B17 crash. the AC hit the ground and cartwheeled. there were no weapons. it was the fuel that exploded.

    Nils,

Like Roy says, we have to know what kind of ordnance she carried..Maybe the answer lies there !

    Roy,

I have no informations about the bomb load.
It was also my first thought that the fuel could exploded, but the aircraft flown already 500 meter before in a altitude of maximal 5 - 6 meter. Here the aircraft damaged during the overflight the smokestack and a part from the roof of a farmhouse. The angel of the aircraft to the ground cannot been so large during the forced landing. There a no hints that the aircrafts slipped over the ground.

Otherwise, the eyewitness had seen the burning aircrafts briefly before the explosion. But why did the crew not bail out when the fire was too strong :n66: She had seen three crew member in the cockpit (it was a lit moon night), so they must think to make a "good" forced landing !

I think one of the bomb was in the bomb bay, possible the bomb bay was hit from flak and damaged and they didnt saw it !?

When it was an blow up, from exploded bomb or fuel, why this distribution ?

    Paul,

in the distribution I found the rest of two burned (spent) stick-type incendiary bomb and the farmer found in the near a complete.

Maybe I can receive a answer from the squadron about the bomb load...

Nils, maybe it was the melting geodetic construction when she was on fire...just a guess.

    Nils.
One possible solution could be,if she was carrying incendiary bombs that thay may have deternated one after another giving a time lapse explosions and the procusions are travelling in all directions. If that was the case that might explain the pattern and distribution of the wreckage. :n66:
