    Pictures, Articles and stuff...
Feel free to post any pictures or articles you find interesting! You can post pics from the Net or upload pics from your PC with the help of ImageShack. I think it's explained in the FAQ but if there are any questions left I am trying to answer them.

    Hi everyone,

I forgot to tell you that over here
    (USA and Canada and Mexico)
the Cuba DVD has been delayed again,

This time they say will be released on
January 3, that is the 4th postponement.

Frustrating for us over here !
The format that we need keeps getting delayed.

Keep telling us how great it is...

    Love,

Oh, that's sad. I keep my fingers crossed for you that you'll finally get the DVD on January 3rd!!! Hope this helps. Cuba is such a joy to watch and listen too. I really love that concert. And the atmosphere in that old Cuban theatre is just amazing!!! You'll love it!
Do you know any reasons for the delay?

Lin thanks for the info on the Cuba DVD~ I was wondering when it was to be released here in the States. I'll be getting for sure on Jan 3 if they don't postpone again :)

It's being manufactured in Canada, heard it is available in the Shop
Site, but I've had it on pre-order for 2 months.

It was first priced over $40, Amazon is now listing at $29.

I remember when I bought HOME I paid $43 for it in January, it was

By June, it was selling for $17 at Best Buy.....
But I can't wait for June.

Wanting to hear from everyone who purchased one of those concert
Live Music CD's from that company who made them "on the spot" in UK.

Who can give me an idea which one is the BEST ?

Hi Lin - I got the cd live from Sheffield on Nov 4th it is awesome,my friend got the Nottm one it is equally as good as we did a swap! LOvely to be able to talk to you by the way.
The weather here is quite appalling and we are snowed in (bit of an exageration) think those dancing shoes might have to be put away on NYE it is not looking good. However I have been catching up on telly stuff I recorded over Xmas- know that you all like to hear about any mention of Mick well he was refered to twice. In coronation street Liz is going out with a musician called Vernon who said he had laid down 2 tracks with Mick Hucknall before he was Simply Red, and in Little Britain there was a ginger bloke in the office with 'linda here' who she had insulted by calling him Mick Hucknall, fans will know what I am on about sorry to everyone else! Have only managed to watch those 2 progs and Mick was mentioned in both - bizzare! Still have not had time to watch Cuba got outvoted and watched partners Cream live at RAH - snowed in with Eric Clapton and leftover nut roast not too bad a way to spend the day. Love Sue x

I have live in Dublin~ it was recommended by one of the boys in the band~ I forget which~ back on the threads. It is wonderful. Mick very chatty with the audience and the audience is superb in their singing along :) I can't imagine you would go wrong with any of them!

I have the one of the Nov 2nd because I was at that concert, that's why it's the best, hahaha!! :D :D (I'm kidding girls) I don't know which one is the best Lin, but this one is the one I saw . So, for me it is the BEST. That concert was great! And we had the good luck to meet all the band and Mick after the show and take pictures. I went also at the Antwerp (Belgium) one (Nov 13th) and at Paris'one (Dec 12th). Three wonderful (and different) gigs! :P :P :-D
Hope you'll have soon yours in US. 8)

    Hi Carine,
You're right ofcourse it's a good idea to take the one you've been too.
I didn't see a gig in the UK unfortunately and just picked one.
At this concert a few Dutch girls we're present so I thought it was a nice idea but I'm sure each and everyone of the Gigs is just great!

That is lovely to hear - I am from Nottingham - where on earth did you find this?
I met these girls' Mum when we were at Nottingham Arena - she came out with all these passes slung round her neck and we asked her how she got them and she told us that her daughters were with the orchestra and that they had done this interview with Radio Nottingham- nice to hear it!
These were not the two girls who i met in the changing room at the gym in the morning they were on - they were from Sheffield.

    Hi Masha!
Sorry, I don't know what went wrong. Did you tick the small box "Log me on automatically each visit" ? If you do it you should be logged in automatically every time you come back to this site.
Do others have similar problems??? Please let me know.

Anyway, maybe it's better only logged in members can write posts? Or is it better to keep it as it is so that guests can write as well? Although it's not a big thing to sign in... ... *thinking*

    What do you think?

No Michi, and thanks for answering. its easy to sign in, ofcourse which i have done so far. and ticked that log in automatically box! but its become a norm it has stopped logging me in automaticlly lately and even resets my clock!! every time i download the page anew. but i guess its a problem aty my end of the cable! and i think guests should be allowed to leave messgaes if they chose not to register!! just wanted to hear what you`d have to say thats all. thank you again and by the way somehow this time it didnt ask me for d my settings as set them an hour or so ago so i guess its just an unruly computer lol

    Heya, Lin!!

Victim to the same delay as you...and since I'd ordered LizSki's even later, hers is even FURTHER backordered...*growl* I did get a chance to watch it with a friend with a PAL copy though, it's pretty good.

The live CD's? I have our shows, Sheffield and Birmingham. Mick is a bit more playful in his chatter on Sheffield, but the crowd atmosphere and band sound are better on Birmingham. BOTH were worth the money, they take me back to those nights again and again.

Especially since you can hear my screaming and hollering VERY distinctly on Sheffield. That nutjob hollering "ALRIGHT STEVE!!!" at the beginning of "Home"? Yep. Me. *giggles insanely*

Anywhoo, HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Here's to MAYBE getting the boys and girls here later in the year.

Make that a definite--even IF they do decide to reschedule the tour here, going abroad is so worth it. I'm probably heading over twice this year--to Holland, and to the second swing through the UK. Gotta do some London shows this time. :D

Anyone interested in any links involving the band members? What their studio and/or live credits are, stuff about the instruments they play, that sort of thing? I have a few sites I hit regularly for this type of thing, if anyone would like me to post links, just holler.

No problem, Yolanda. Will take care of it when I get a block of time after our meetings this week, just remind me. :-)
Need to look up more stuff on Dave, actually. :-D

    Hi Jessica !

Where have you been hiding ?
This is his committment ring with his longtime love
that he was with during the Blue album.

They are back together, very serious this time.
He's had the ring on over 6+ months now.

Hopefully they will begin a family soon.
He is very in love and the happiest he's ever been.

Too bad you missed all the comments on the SR site
    before they discontinued the forums....

We are so happy Michi made this site for us all...

I can't even visit the SR site, it's so sterile and
robotic and not like it was before, even though
it's still under construction, the feeling you get
just visiting there.... is very different.

Hope you are well and have a Happy New Year.

    Hi everyone,

Got behind in my reading of the posts in this forum page, glad to see everyone is posting such great stuff !!

Can't wait to pull up all the links....

btw, the company I ordered from said they shipped Cuba Dec 31, it is now Jan 5 and I still don't have it, however, I know things can get delayed over the Holidays (even Monday was a postal holiday).

Sue, I watched the Eric Clapton at Royal Albert Hall also...it was being shown many times on our PBS (Public Broadcasting TV)

I'm so happy you all like this small board ('though it's not "the real thing").
Yes, I have to agree with Lin. The official site looks very sterile and impersonal at the moment. I really hope that this is just for the time of re-building the site! Just the business-site isn't enough, the forum was somehow the heart of simplyred.com. I can do without a chatroom, but definitely not without the boards. Am I addicted? It seems I am

Oh, and Shannon! Please share those links with us! Sounds interesting... yes, there are some other interesting people in the band than only ... you know who :D

Hi gang~ I came by to catch up on what is going on. Such fun and I love reading all you have to say.

Shannon~ I see you are in Chicago, I am not far from you , just 3 hours to Iowa. Thanks for the encouragement to go abroad! I have never been and would so love to. Glad you are able to go again this summer.

Lin~ I love the fact that Mick is wearing a ring! I think it is fantastic for Mick and can you imagine being the one he has written so many songs for and about. He has a wonderful soul. I hope they continue to be happy and a family would be lovely for them both.

Michi~ your English is fantastic! You have done a great job with this site. Congrats.

Still no Cuba DVD here in the states~ and word on when .....again? Can you get one from the simplyred.com. I know they have them but are they digitally coded for use in the states? My computer geek husband says there are several digital zones for such things and to be sure it is the right code so it works! If anyone knows about that I would appreciate any info on it :)

Off to see what else has been going on here! I love this site.

    take care all~
    Angie

    Hi again,
Well it's January 6th, maybe my CUBA DVD will arrive tomorrow ?
Has anyone else in the USA received theirs yet ??

Ditto on Angie's posted message above....if I ever thought there would not be a concert over here, I def would have flown over to see a concert.

All these links and interviews are fantastic...it's keeping the life blood in us all....did anyone notice that I invited Mick and the Band here ?

All these peeps looking in, please feel free to post here, we'd love to hear from you too...!!!!

Lin, I went to Best Buy and they had no record of it for a release. I did however get my Simlified CD there on the exact day of release so I am not sure what the deal is with the DVD? I broke down and ordered one from the simpleyred.com site~ just can't wait for the US stores to get it right!

Such a pity you can't listen to it. It's a quite long interview (almost 10 minutes). They talk about what it's like being on tour with Simply Red, about the music they like, about playing the violin, about Mick about Elton, etc. ...

If it's just the speakers that don't work can't you listen with headphones?

Still, I won't gripe much, at least there IS an NTSC release...I still remember well the days where we didn't always get stuff. Hi again, Angie! Whereabouts in Iowa are you? I'm actually a Cheesehead born and bred (raised about 2 hours north of Milwaukee), but saying that in these parts means death, as you probably know. :D

Going abroad to see SR? TOTALLY worth it. I don't regret a single cent I spent. This band earn their keep. :-D You've never been abroad? If you head to England, let me know, I've been twice and LOVE it there, I know the ropes pretty well.

DVD encoding--you want NTSC Region 1. I believe the shop was planning on stocking these but I don't know if their supplier is any more reliable than what we've dealt with here. I know the shop ROCKS for everything else though, Alison runs it very well. :-D

Casting my Vote for Shannon as the Deputy :)

Shannon, I live in Dubuque~ on the river where IL, WI and IA meet. It is beautiful here. I grew up west of here in Waterloo. And yes, I know all about cheese heads  Quite a jolly group~ many of them here in Dubuque in fact! I certainly hope you own a cheese helmet~ LOL!

I am scouting the European Tour schedule~ August in Germany sounds lovely! I have a birthday then and think that would be a great present to go see Mick and the band then. I will check the tour schedule on the official site and see what other options there are. I would so love to go. If I go I will certainly let you all know.

Just wish they would have mercy on us and come to across the pond soon!

    ;)

Cheers, Angie! Love Michi's pic...wish we could all get together and do that. :D
Dubuque--one of the Quad Cities, yes? I think I might actually have relation there or near there. Yes, we do have a reputation for being the life of the party (I'm sure a few people here remember the INSANE threads involving myself and The Rose Tattoo on the old boards!!! *laughs*)...what else is there to do in 9 months of cold, crap weather?

I do in fact own a Cheesehead (the traditional wedge hat, not one of the helmets). Bought at Wisconsin State Fair, 1990. :-D

That trip to Germany sounds like a boss idea...SR concerts are good birthday presents. :D Definitely let us know!

*sigh* Yeah, I was QUITE TICKED when they canceled the January/February swing through the States. I just pray they reschedule it. There's plenty on this side of the water that can't afford to or can't get time enough off work to go overseas for gigs, but they're no less hungry to see the band. Thinking of some friends in Florida and Arizona... :-(

Dubuque is about an hour north of the Quad Cities. Much smaller town and much more scenic :)

You have the cheese "helmet" that I am thinking of! Super. I do recall reading some of your and The Rose Tatoos chats on the old boards! LOL. You are right~ what else to do in the winter! And why must it last so long? It is no better here in Dubuque I am afraid.

Off to work on taxes! I have Blue playing in the backgroud.

Taxes? Hmmm...reminds me, time to apply for what I HOPE is my final year of student loans, gotta tell Uncle Sam how broke I am this year. *laughs* And this time it's no joke...my net worth is about $40,000 in the hole. :doh

My background music currently is 'The Whole Affair' by Izit...obscure jazz fusion/funk outfit that Steve played with in the early '90's. Killer stuff!! :D And helping me stay awake long enough to complete tonight's RA duties.

    Well...
The reason you never read about it is because SR's management did not have the good graces to come clean with the U.S. fans about it. And I have had some words with them over it.

How I found out it was canceled? By talking to the manager of one of the venues that got booked. And getting confirming evidence from sources that I will not reveal for privacy reasons. But trust me when I say they're completely credible.

I really hope they reschedule. But there is precedent for tours getting canceled here and not getting rebooked. So I'm not holding my breath.

That's why the higher power invented Europe. And credit cards. :devil

Lin~ that is great you traveled over twice! I am not afraid at all, DH is the practical one, thinks about the kids etc. I am the "go on a whim" one. LOL. I'll see what I can do. And if it looks like it has to be a girls trip I will have to enlist you and Shannon :)

Shannon~ oh I would have loved to have a SR loving RA back in the day! LOL, I am probably old enough to be your mom :) Good luck with the student laon thing~ I had a party when I paid mine off finally!

OK, out I go. You may recall (or not) me posting on the old boards that I did a 20 mile run on the treadmill back in December~ watching various SR DVD's the whole time! Fabulous.

I guess if it doesn't work you can cut/paste it or go to the SR site for the link. I thought it was a nice interview and it is alwasy lovely to hear that voice.

You can also download the interview as an mp3 and save it to your harddrive if you want. The other interviews might be interesting too: http://features.gmgradio.com/gmg/xmasspecials/london.asp

And now, please tell me what it's all about these cheeseheads??? Found some strange pics while I was "googling" ... but I can't really believe you mean this:

Michi~ Thank you SO much for linking to the interview. I am not that computer savvy yet :) I appreciate your help!

YES~ that is the cheese head! Wisconsin is known for it's production of cheese and so they started being called Cheese Heads. I believe that is the same hat that Shannon said she has! Too funny.

Now here in Iowa we are known for growing corn and for raising pigs (neither of which I do) BUT~ I wouldn't want to wear a corn or a pigs on my head

Maybe we could come up with a Simply Red hat~ a big mop of those wonderful red curls :-D

Woooaaaah, must look funny or maybe silly or even dangerous?????
Oh yes, maybe it's better to wear a big mop of red curls :D

Yes, a mop of red curls would be fun! Someone can wear the longer dread-locked version, some the "Picture Book" era with it shorter on one side and then some with todays loose tousled look. Much better than cheese and corn for sure :D

Angie: The students dig having an RA who's music-mad--I was voted "coolest RA" this last quarter. *blushes* One of them just asked me to burn him an SR CD, actually. And the rest love my dead-loud stereo. But I'm not as young as you might think (just rolled 30)--did the college thing a bit late, currently a graduate student. Thanks for the compliment though!!! :D

I'm sure Liz and Yo-Yo wouldn't mind more company the next time we go over there as a group...the more the merrier!! :devil

Yes, that's the right shade of Cheesehead. I don't like the yellow ones as much. There IS actually a corn-cob hat, I've seen them, but you're right, the pig would just be TOO out there. *laughs*

Michi: Yes, those are what we're talking about, and they're actually quite safe to wear, they're made of foam rubber. So if you hit anything with the corner of the wedge, you just bounce off. :D It's a Wisconsin pride thing. We are the laughingstock of the United States, but it's a pretty cool place to live in AND visit. :-D

Dreads hats...*laughs* I have my opinions on that but will keep them to myself. Dubwise will have a good idea of what though. *laughing even harder*

thank goodness for Michi's idea of this forum !!!

    Love,
    Lin xx

Glad they explained to you that this was made of FOAM !!
I didn't think of mentioning that.
Imagine an entire Football Statium of 70,000 people wearing them while drinking beer and yelling and freezing their pants off (VERY COLD THERE)

LAMBEAU FIELD!!! WHOO-HOO!!!!!!! The hallowed Frozen Tundra. :D

(Have never set foot there but have a can of dirt from when they tore out the field before the '97 Super Bowl. So I can take a piece of Lambeau with me everywhere. :-D )

LOL~ to be honest, red curls aside, I hate things on my head. Didn't even want to wear a veil at my wedding :) But if wearing a cheese helmet or any other headpiece for that matter got me in to see Simply Red~ well, I'd make an exception :D
