    Grammar Test 1
    Hallo liebe Leute,

    ich habe die Englisch - Klausur vom letzten Jahr besorgt. Da diese Arbeit schon 2 mal geschrieben wurde, sprich 2003 und 2004 kann man davon ausgehen das wir dieses Jahr das gleiche nochmal schreiben. Alle guten Dinge sind ja bekanntlich drei. 100 %ig kann man das natürlich nicht sagen, aber dennoch bitte ich Euch ALLE um stricktes Stillschweigen, damit uns eine evtl. gute Note sicher sein kann. Vielen Dank an Euch und viel Spass beim üben.




    1. Present Simple and Present Progressiv
    Put the verbs in brackets into the simple present or the present
    progressiv tense.
    Copy the sentences overleaf.

    1. Cuckoos (not build) nests. They (use) the nests of other birds.
    2. You can’t see Tom now; he (have) a bath.
    3. In Spain women usually (not wear) hats.
    4. You (know) why an apple (fall) down and not up?
    5. Why you (walk) so fast today? You usually (walk) quite slowly. I (hurry) because my mother (not like) to be kept waiting.
    6. He ussually (speak) so quickly that I (understand) him.
    7. I (think) it’s a pity you don’t do more sports. You (get) fat.
    8. Ann: I’ve got a letter from Tom. He says he (come) to London next week and (want) us to meet him for lunch.

    2. The Simple Past
    Put the verbs in the following sentences into a) the negative and b) the interrogative (question). Please copy overleaf.

    4. Grammar in context – Provide the correct tenses! ( Simple Past and Past Progressiv)

    Columbo’s case

    5. Present Perfect and Simple Past
    Put the verbs in brackets into the present perfect or simple past tense. Please copy!

    1. That is Mr. Minus, who teaches me mathematics, but he (not have) time to teach me much. I only (be) in his class for a week.
    2. Hannibal (bring) elephants across the Alps. Why he (do)
    that?
    3. I (fly) over Loch Ness last week. (you/see) the Loch Ness monster?
    4. Chopin (compose) some of his music in Majorca.
    5. I (not see) him for three years. I wonder where he is.

    6. Going to- future and will-furure
    Put the verbs in brackets into the correct one of the above forms. Please copy below!

    1. Why do you want all the furniture out if the room? Because I (shampoo) the carpet.
    2. Leave a note for them on the table and they (see) it when they come in.
    3. Mrs. Smith was just picking up the receiver when they come in.
    “Ann’s not well,” she said. “ I (ring) the school and say that she can’t come.”
    4. Tom: Ann, we haven’ got any salt.
    5. Do you think Tom (get) the job?
    6. I haven’t bought any cigarettes because I (give) up smoking.
    7. Look at Ann! She (drop) her shawl.
    8. All next week it (be) cloudy with sunny intervals.
