    Kiske News
So, jetzt mach ich mal ganz schamlos hier wichtig  ! Hab gestern mit Basti über Kiske geplaudert:

From Weiki with Love!" an  !

    Re: Kiske News

ne ner? das is mein lieblingsfilm :D

    Re: Kiske News

    Wanda - 11.02.2008, 17:52

"Is ned vurn (=vorne, also bei den CDs eingeordnet)? Donn is aa ned do!"

    "PAST IN DIFFERENT WAYS

It’s not a secret that in our time free creativity almost became a ’’moral-crime’’ within certain music-scenes. Markets and sales generally dominate our so called ’’art’’ and modern musicians worry far more about pleasing critics then about writing a true song. We also know how certain mentalities will react to anything I do that is not following their (art-enemy) ’’pontifical-dogmas’’; but musicians must never listen to these types of philistines ever. When Serafino Perugino brought up the idea to do this record, my first reaction was: "No way! I don’t want to be dealing with my past all the time anymore! etc." But after a few days my thinking changed and I thought: Maybe it’s not such a bad idea at all? Because on one hand it shows that I don’t reject my past just because I’m a different person today, and on the other hand it can maybe give people who were part of that past a different view at those songs. It’s my music, I can still identify myself with its spirit, so why should I not do this? My songwriting today is different. I wrote some of the songs on this album when I was 17 years old, so the lyrics are often blue-eyed and naive, but I didn’t want to change them completely again. The basic epic sound of the better ones and the sort of uplifting-idealistic attitude still suits me very well. Also the unconventional arrangements of some those earlier tracks I was getting a bit excited about, I must admit. I generally brought each song down to its basics, threw out useless weight and sometimes changed the key to make them sound better as acoustics; and I was surprised how well they worked like that. Songs like >In The Night<or>When The Sinner< which where never favorites of mine are much cooler and much more convincing now, at least for my ears. It was not always easy for me emotionally to deal with this material. Music somehow seems to preserve emotional-memories and I connect big human-disappointments with the last years of that time. There’s also something very unsatisfying about re-recording old songs; it’s always MUCH better to write new stuff, but I wanted to make those songs mine again. And in spite of the fact that I strongly felt for the last couple of years that I rather have to build myself a new base of friends, it’s always good to make peace with your past. So I am glad that I did it, - but it’s also good that it’s finally done! -"

    Press Release
    Geschrieben von Frontiers Records
    14.03.2008 MICHAEL KISKE

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce all the details for the release of
MICHAEL KISKE new album entitled "Past In Different Ways" on May 9th 2008.

This much talked about album includes the reworking in a new fully acoustic
and stripped back mood of some of Helloween's classics that Kiske wrote and
recorded in his early days with the legendary German Heavy Metal band. "When
Serafino Perugino brought up the idea to do this record" says Michael, "my
first reaction was: "No way! I don't want to be dealing with my past all the
time anymore!". But after a few days my thinking changed and I thought:
maybe it's not such a bad idea at all? Because on one hand it shows that I
don't reject my past just because I'm a different person today and on the
other hand it can maybe give people who were part of that past a different
view at those songs. It's my music, I can still identify myself with its
spirit, so why should I not do this?".

Working in a creatively free environment helped Michael to look at his past
with different eyes and brought the idea of working again on the songs that
Michael wrote for Helloween during his years with the band. The result is
"Past In a Different Ways", a record which includes brand new recordings of
Kiske's songs taken off the two "Keeper" albums, "Chameleon" and "Pink
Bubbles Go Ape", plus the brand new song "Different Ways".

The unconventional arrangements of many of the tracks will surprise and
delight many of his fans and more surprising is to see how well these songs
sound with a basic acoustic arrangement, without the "useless weight" and
with new keys. "Songs like 'In The Night' or 'When The Sinner' which where
never favourites of mine are much cooler and much more convincing now for my
    ears", says Michael.

The album was recorded and mixed in Hamburg under Michael Kiske's direction
and features long time collaborators such as Sandro Giampietro on guitar,
Fontaine Burnett on bass and Karsten Nagel on drums.

Kiske concludes: "It was not always easy for me emotionally to deal with
this material. Music somehow seems to preserve emotional memories and I
connect big human disappointments with the last years of that time. There's
also something very unsatisfying about re-recording old songs; it's always
MUCH better to write new stuff, but I wanted to make those songs mine again.
And in spite of the fact that I strongly felt for the last couple of years
that I rather have to build myself a new base of friends, it's always good
to make peace with your past".

Final tracklisting of "Past In Different Ways" include the following tracks:

    You Always Walk Alone
    We Got The Right
    I Believe
    Longing
    Your Turn
    Kids Of The Century
    In The Night
    Going Home
    A Little Time
    When The Sinner
    Different Ways (brand new song).

"Past In Different Ways" will see the light in Europe on May 9th 2008 on
    Frontiers Records.

    Wanda - 25.03.2008, 21:23

    s. off topics

    Re: Kiske News

    Yogi - 29.03.2008, 17:44

soeben per newsletter folgende nachrichten erhalten:

in the latest issue of Finland's Soundi magazine, STRATOVARIUS mainman Timo Tolkki reveals that he has formed a new band called REVOLUTION RENAISSANCE, which is believed to have been the working title of the now apparently aborted new STRATOVARIUS album. The group's debut CD — which will feature guest appearances by Michael Kiske, Pasi Rantanen (vocals; THUNDERSTONE), Mirka Rantanen (drums; THUNDERSTONE), Pasi Heikkilä (bass; 45 DEGREE WOMAN) and Tobias Sammet (vocals; EDGUY) — is tentatively due this summer via Frontiers Records.

Michael Kiske indeed confirmed his participation on this CD saying that the songs and the lyrics are quite good. Michi recorded his lead-vocals for five complete songs, including the title-track Revolution Renaissance.

    http://www.rafabasa.com/

Michael: I got a really good offer to go out on tour, he offered me from the first time I said to make this album. I would like to make an acoustic tour, but 16 years later begin to tour again with only old stuff, it will be a wrong message... when I returned to the stage again I want to show new stuff. Then I can play old songs, ¿why not? but I think now it's not the right moment.

Michael.- I would like to play again in spain, stay tuned what it happened the next year...

    About new album

Michael.- The result was interesting I show myself that I haven't anything to hide, it's very easy to see the feeling and personal style on this songs. 2 first songs you always and we got were very intenses, the songs are like me even more the last song I composed on this last years, and I wrote them when I was 16 or 17 years, although I like the lyrics (a few simples and with a worse english) but I still see reflect on them.

From other side, it was not easy emotionalment to make, a lot of days it was hard to wake up and work with this stuff again, but then on the studio I liked the results. I was very happy with the result but now I need to compose more new stuff .

    About tour with Avantasia
Michael - Yes, Tobias asked me and he offer me a lot of money to play on this shows, money I really need, but 16 years later I'm not prepaired to join in a metal tour. I have not problems to sing on tobias's albums, but I have to be careful with the way to return on a stage. For me it's importa to make interstings rock albums and to make tours, but to join on a stage with only heavy metal... it's better rock stages, with more kinds of music... I don't want to reject to join in metal festivals but yes to join on stages with a part of metal but also other music as KEANE or COLDPLAY...I have to be careful with that.

It was really difficult to reject Tobias offer, cause it was a very good offer... if I was started to play with my own stuff it would be different, perhaps I haven't problem to make it but in this moment it's not the best way to start I don't be able at 100%.

About to make something with helloween

Michael - I know Weikath has the idea and try to contact with me in 2002 or 2003 but I don't want to talk with this guy never in my life, it's a personal decision. I don't hate anything from my past, I hate all relationate with Weikath. All relationate with my go out from helloween is for his way to make, see, and being. I have not problem to make some things for the fans, give them satisfactions cause I'll continue to make my own stuff, I don't make a reunion for the rest of my life, but for the fans I could make it something like this.

If weikath would make the right things with positive passion in these years, there wouldn't be any problem. If in your personal life you have a friend and in your back always it's saying that you're a stupid, asshole... you can't be friendly or have a relationship with him. Everybody on this life has "enemies" or people who can't trust in, something you can't call him friend. So, people can't wait then I return on a stage with something like this and to make a show, everybody smiling as nothing happened, this will be sick.

    About Iron Maiden

Michael.- Iron Maiden fans never accept a german singer (laughs) they're very nationalist with his band, the british you know. We have the same management Sanctuary and we knew us, we were on Rob Smallword wedding on monsters of rock 88, I was with Bruce Dickinson a few times since I was out of Helloween. Adrian played on my first solo album, with Dave Murray I have good relationship too... from my vocal... perhaps it sounds good Iron Maiden songs on it. But I would fit ...

From other side it's strange, it was a rumour, I saw on german tv, where they said I was the new singer of iron miaden, it was funny because I don't know anything about it.

A journalist friend told me about a interview with steve harris.. he said that I was on the list of 3 singers he could imaginate in iron miaden. It's all I know about it. But english fans are very nationalist, iron miaden it's a national proud, and a lot of english fans don't like german bands, for historics reasons... not all english fans but some of them yes.

About old videos with his old look

Michael - It's strange but lucky too. I can see how we enjoy and the energy whe show, I was very "fisic" on the stage... I don't see as anything negative, I don't see anything wrong. I enjoyed a lot, but now I'm a differente person. I changed a lot, I learned a lot. But it's funny to see that. For example a japanese jornalist, I tolk with him since years, sent me an old interview in japan 1996 when I edited instant clarity and it's funny the way I express and how I spoke there. For a strange reason I looked very nervious (laugs), I think it's honest what I say it but if I would make an interview now with the mtv for example, I would not be so nervious, I will be relax and don't worry about the look....

Michael - I never considered me a metalhead, at least as the other members of helloween, but I always enjoyed a lot listening METALLICA, IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PREIST... I still love this kind of bands but I always listened another kind of stuff, I could be listening the 3 first METALLICA albums and then listen people like KATE BUSH, PAT BENATAR, EURYTHMICS or U2, or Barbra Streissand, SIMON&GARFUNKEL o THE BEATLES, ELVIS, classic music... I always had a lot of influences, another members liked that too, but I was the more "plural".

From other side I never be the kind of person who believe on musical scenes, dogmas or something like that. There are not kinds of music TRUE or FALSE, there are music that you liked or not. Listen only the same kind of music is like the people who only watch his favourite football team, or the nationalists, I can't stand that somebody said that something it will be out it will be bad. If he would has the reason there not exist the culture, knowledge, you know.

    about the new album

Michael - I want to use electric guitars again in my new album but nobody must think in it will be a metal album cause it's not right it will be more opened sound.

Producer Dennis Ward is finishing this week the drums recording sessions with his Pink Cream 69’s bandmate Kosta Zafiriou for the forthcoming PLACE VENDOME album to be entitled “Streets of Fire”. Mix and mastering are scheduled for the first 3 weeks of November. During November Michael Kiske will gather with the other band members in Stuttgart, Germany to shoot a videoclip for the song “My Guardian Angel”. This event will mark the Kiske’s “visual return” after several years of self-imposed exile from the scene.

Ist ja mal übelst geil Kiske mag Oasis:

Former HELLOWEEN singer Michael Kiske recently spoke to Roadie Crew magazine's Thiago Sarkis about Kiske's favorite albums of 2008. Michael's choices for the best albums of the year, along with his comments, follow below.

    * OASIS' "Dig Out Your Soul":

Kiske: "When it comes to the legacy of THE BEATLES, no one beats OASIS. They are not the most original band in the world, and they know it, but they are in fact able to write songs that could truly be written by THE BEATLES, and that's a lot of fun to hear."

    * MARIA MENA's "Cause And Effect":

Kiske: "This record is a rare example of decadence-free music. While most of our modern rock/pop music is a result of pure decadence, Maria Mena makes fairy music. I love it!"

    * KEANE's "Perfect Symmetry":

Kiske: "Art enemy critics will break their necks for [Keane] being no puppets of their past successes and stiff expectations of audiences, but artistically they are doing totally right. So I dig them for it!"

    * SARAH MCLACHLAN's "Closer: The Best Of Sarah McLachlan":

Kiske: "The voice of Sarah McLachlan is emotionally reaching me. She is also at least one of the best female songwriters of our time."

    * TRAVIS' "Ode To J. Smith":
