    Unknown undercarriage
    Hi all,

just receive a mail from recovered undercarriage.
I think it was fixed on an unknown fighter.

well its definatly American. one of the bolts has "made in the USA."

they think it is an B-24 , but look at the propeller blade !
I think it is a blade of an fighter. the undercarriage of B-24 and B-17 (main gear and rear gear) have a different disign...

    Nils

the leg looks too small to be the main landing gear of a heavy bomber.
in the second video link, (at 1 minute 42 seconds) the guy is holding a valve and seat. if you have contact with them ask what size the valve head is.
i agree, the prop blade does look wrong for an American heavy as well.

Thats what i mean, the blade and the leg are not from heavy bomber.
I have send him the link to our board. maybe he read this discussion...

The valve could be a option to identify. From crashsite near Kiel I have a valve, but i dont know if is an intake valve, or exhaust valve (see photo) diameter 64mm

What you think about a P-38 Lightning? In the second video at 1:04 there are some plates like armor plate visible. I've found something like that on a P-38 crashplace. - Kurtl

    Kurtl,

do you have a photo from this plate ?
    Maybe a Lightning is possible...

    Nils,
i thought the strut could be from a p38 nose wheel, but after checking it doesnt look like one to me.
the fitting at the top looks very familiar. i have seen it before somewhere.
if its what think it is, it attaches to the airframe using another mounting and can turn to steer the AC while on the ground..
its similar to the nose strut on a P39. prop looks the same as well.
this is a wild guess though.

Now he wrote me, the blade is not from the crash with the undercarriage, they only brought the Bf109 blade to show

I aks him before about more parts with numbers. We must wait what he tell or show next...
