B17 landing gear recovered form Wadden Sea
I´m Searching for any Information about the following Part Numbers and Inspection Stamps, that I found on the main landing gear of a B17.

The B17 was found by fishing near the island Neuwerk near Cuxhaven/Northwest-Germany.

    Part numbers: 15-6180, 57-1195-1, 102136, 41-9404-1, BOEING 15 4779, SERIAL 102121, 41 2789

    Inspection Stamps: all Round H, M or W, S54, H 16, S169, S186; letter GRM, B-D-V and H AUU

I added no Pictures, as a result of the bad condition of the part.

Any information are welcome; we have so many B-17 crashes on the coast between Bremerhaven and Cuxhaven, so we have no idea which is it.

    Tanks!

    Thorsten

    Hi Thorsten,

    welcome to our board !
We will try to identify your parts !

Three of your part numbers I could identified:

41-9404-1 is a bolt from landing gear support of the wing section (see red marking on the diagramm)

41-2789 is trunnion from landing gear of the wing section (see blue marking on the diagramm)

15-4779 is from terminal assembly a landing gear strut of the alighting gear section (not number on the diagramm)

The other part number are not known.
The numbers "102136" and "102121" should be the serial numbers from this assembly.

It would be a better help when you can show some photos of the unknown parts, because it is easier to identified.

When you have some crash sites, we could also look in our lists. But pleaso do not publish the locations of crash sites, because too many people will search illegal for this parts. A lot of crew member are still missing and it is possible to can finde human remains on this sites !!
You can send the names as known, to me or one of the both Mods here.
We will check the locations carefully !

    Regards from Kiel

    Nils
