Hello,
I am about to have my Lightning shipped to Germany, and was wondering if it was legal to have a nitrous system on it....I have heard that German law only allows this if someone has a drag racing license and the vehicle is only used on the track. Can someone please set this straight - I dont want to install it if it's going to be a problem upon arrival.

It´s absolutely illegal to use a nitrous system on your car in germany on the street. I don´t know how it works if you go on the street with a U.S. licence on your car, but for us it would be a big problem.
The Cops would get us a big big ticket !

es ist absolut illegal mit einem installiertem Nitrous System in Deinem Auto auf den deutschen Straßen zu fahren. Ich weiß nicht genau wie es ist wenn Du mit einer US- Zulassung unterwegs bist, aber für uns wäre das ein großes Problem !
Die Polizei würde uns ein teures Ticket ausstellen !

Thanks for the response! I don't think I will put the system on my truck after all - even though it is not a problem in the U.S., I dont want any problems with the Polezei when I get back....I already know what it feels like to have them mad at me, and I never want to go through THAT again!! :( I also heard that getting notrous bottles refilled over there is quite expensive, and takes a lot of time to find a shop to fill them up. Oh well, I will just have to wait till 2007 when I come back the the U.S.....
Unless, of course, I wind up selling the truck while I am there!

Where are you going to be stationed? I use to be stationed at Ramstein and I used my NOS over there several times while racing. Of course, all of my racing was done on the track. It is illegal to use NOS anywhere on the public streets, not just in the states but everywhere.

Im already stationed in Stuttgart - just here in the States for a little visit (school)...
Yeah, i know about the NOS issue....but its also illegal to run our trucks as fast as we do! Ive run NOS on a couple of my other vehicles, and never had a problem - knock on wood - I just dont want to push it over there.
