    questions about Bodenseehof
Hi, I'm Rebecca and I'm due to be starting at Bodenseehof in September. I keep coming onto the is website to see if anyone has written anything for this particular forum, but they haven't so I thought that I would start it and maybe that would encourage others to add to it. I have a few questions that past Bodenseehof students hopefully will be able to asnwer for. I may even think of more questions at a later stage. So here we go:

I'm flying into Friedrichshafen airport and have to get a bus there. What is the system with getting buses in Germany (I've not been before)? Where do you buy the ticket? How do you know when to get off? etc?
Then the info says that I have to get off the bus and walk up a road to the college, is this road long? Is it easy to find?
How many people share a dorm? Any exactly how much space is there to store belongings and bags - under bed/wardrobe/drawers etc?
How much free time do you get?
What sort of ages were the students when you were there? I will be 29 soon after starting, do you think I'll stand out as being really old?
Are there computers that stuents can do work on, or am I going to be at a big disadvantage not having a laptop?

Well I'm sure that I had more questions, but I can't think what they were. Hope someone is able to answer them. :)

    Hi Rebecca,
I will try to answer some of the questions. I´ve been a student 94/95, so maybe som things changed a little bit, but most of the things didnt changed for over 30 Years...

Normally you buy all your tickets at the Bus in the front from the bus Driver. Friedrichshafen Airport is a very small Airport, so it should be easy to find the buses. Take Bus Number 7395 Direction Meersburg, the stop you have to exit is called "Fischbach West". Sit near the bus driver, he will let you know when to get off, Bodenseehof is just about a three minutes walk from the Bus Stadion. Everybody knows the Bodenseehof, just ask people on the road, and get the first experiences with the "Fischbacher"

I shared a four bed room with two other peoples in the first term, and then a 10 bed room with 10 people in the second term. It depends how many students are there. You have one cuppord for your own, and then something like a "rolling box" underneath the bed. You will be able to store your luggage in a baggage room.
You wont have that much of free time, since most of the time is planed with reading books, doing workduties (cleaning the teachers cars...) or other kinds of "usefull things". There is one "Travel weekend" where you can do what you want and of course some Days around Christmas/New Years Eve.

I dont think so. I was 18 as I was there, and I shared my rooms with peoples from 18 till 60 (or what was Pauls age???) Dont be aware about the age. That is one of the "magic points" at Bhof, nobody cares or is outstanding because of the age. I spend a lot of the time wit a guy age 30. And this is something very teachfull living with older peole, and sometimes for older peole living with younger...

I didnt even had a CD Player... Ok, that was 1994. We didnt have any Computers that time. But as much as I heard they have a Computer room and even every student has his own email (yourname@bodenseehof.de). So you shouldnt have problems without a laptop.

I hope I helped a little bit and maybe other EX Students want to give more comments. Dont hesitate to ask more, and I wish you a great "Prepairing" Time for bodenseehof.
Where are you from? Maybe you can get in personell touch with other Students?

Thanks bj for your answers they are very helpful. I'm from Nottingham in England. The last time I emailed the office at Bodenseehof I was the only British person going, which is a bit daunting, but I'm looking forward to going nevertheless.

i just went this past fall, and bj's got it pretty much covered. to get your bus ticket tell the driver "fischbach" because they charge by distance. the stop is right next to an esso station.
the walk is super short. you'll cross the street and then keep heading the direction the bus was going, and then you'll see the sign.
space: super limited but it makes cleaning your room really easy. you'll probably either be in a room with 3 other people or with 9 other people. in th 10 room you have more space. it depends on how full enrollment is.
there is a computer lab with about 10 computers. you're not expected to type anything except maybe your Bible study project, so you won't have problems without a laptop unless you really want to type stuff. but bring lots of writting paper. you will have a bode email address and it will be the only one you can use regularly so tell everyone to write to you at that address. of the 10 computers only two have internet access for about 5 hours a day so it's hard to check whatever account you normally use.
your afternoons are pretty much you own. you'll have reading and some writting to do. before lunch and after dinner there are lectures. you have weekends off too. but you have curfew so done plan on saying up late to get work done. work duty changes every few weeks so you're time off will change every few weeks.
a lot of people go right out of high school, but there are people from everywhere and everything and God always puts the right group of people together. you will have an amazing time. it's the experience of a life time. i'd love to hear what you think and how i can pray for you while you're there. my email is smiletastic@earthlink.net.

I will be starting a Bodenseehof in September 2006. I am very excited! I picked Germany over Australia, even though I was accepted both places, and I hope I have made the right decision! :? I have a few questions- what is Fishbach like? Is it a very small town? Is it right on Lake Constance? Are there cafe's etc. there? I was in Germany in Nov. 2005 and even though we tried to attend the Open Night, we were unable to make it. Any other general things to know about this school would be greatly appreciated... I have to send in my deposit in 2 weeks!

Hi Sweetinge - welcome to the Forum,
Fischbach is a VERY small place and right at the lake, unfortunatly there is no straight connection with Bohof to the lake, but just beside it there is a Camping Ground where you can go to the lake. There are some very unspectaculare coffee places, and the mystic "Graf Zeppelin", but what you prbably will enjoy is the Bahnhof (www.bahnhof-fischbach.de) where you can have a good laugh, good beer and Live Music. And the area around Fischbach is very nice, so you wont get bored, and Bohof sometimes organized some trips like to the Austrian Alps or Switzerland.

    Hi Sarah,
I stayed the first term with two others in a romm, second term with 8 others
Unfortunatly Bodenseehof wont link this site from their site so the only way ist posting it in the guestbook since they dont have a forum - thats one way to get to know people in advance.

    hello topic lookers
Thought I'd actually post instead of writing down all your emails and stalking you... wait, I already did that.

Crazy how the internet can bring people together eh?
A bunch of us are already conversing on MSN (well, 6 on my list so far) so I thought I would post my email as well:
    sonyabergmann at hotmail.com
Sorry, I don't make it clickable because of all the bots that can pick it up but I'm sure you can manage :P

I know a few of us are flying into Zurich in groups so we will get lost together using our superb powers of tourist confusion.
