    Omar Reid

Zitat: With a sometimes edginess in his soulful voice, he delivers a unique stage act of overflowing lyrical melodies reflecting life and loving. Omar Reid, with his cute face, captivating eyes, sexy physique, classy attire and shy guy demeanour, hails from Kingston, the city of Reggae music.

Omar was born with music in his genes…From the age of five he was interested in reggae music, mainly influenced by his uncle Desmond 'Desi Roots' Young, who then was the lead singer for the famous 809 Band with ace musicians such as Dean Fraser, Nambo Robinson, Christopher Birch, Michael Fletcher and Paul Kastick. From this early age, reggae music had a huge influence on Omar and his involvement with his school choir encouraged Omar to pursue a singing career from the age of ten.

His mother and uncle didn't think that was a wise idea, but secretly Omar started to take vocal lessons to fulfil his dream.

While growing up, Omar admired the likes of some great Reggae and R&B Singers such as: Beres Hammond, Half Pint, Junior Tucker, Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder. Omar did his first recording at age 15. From there, he started doing background vocals and writing songs for various Reggae Artistes.

In 2006 Omar entered the JCDC Popular Song Contest with a song written by Mario (the mad scientist) Lawrence entitled: “Remember the Days” which reflected on Jamaica’s past. With his distinctive vocals and unassuming personality, Omar walked away the undisputed winner, putting his name in Jamaica’s music history forever, following in the footsteps of renowned reggae artistes like Toots Hibbert and Jacob Miller.

In January 2007, Omar was among the ten Jamaican Reggae artistes who were selected to perform at the annual music Festival “Midem”, which is held in Cannes France. Omar’s performance was outstanding at Midem; he was recognised by the press and many music industry buffs as an Artiste with charisma and a mellow smooth vibe and a promising future.

Currently Omar takes a uniquely raw approach with his two latest catchy singles: “Love Time” and " Story of My Life” which has been getting major airplay on the reggae stations both locally and internationally. His style of music is of the times, with colourful and thoughtful lyrics, that speak with simplicity of love, heartache, and ghetto life.

Omar’s philosophy is ‘Go get your goal…in order to be successful in life you have to put in the necessary work, and believe in yourself so that others will believe in you.’ Omar’s aim is to take his own unique brand of Reggae music to the world.

Currently Omar is in the studio with a dedicated team with an aim of enabling him to reach higher heights. He is working with Mario (the mad scientist) Lawrence of Music Factory and other local producers creating smashing single...
