I got this error and can't login.

Make sure the drivers on your card are completely up to date. that may be what's wrong with it.

Find the website for your graphics card and they should have driver updates there.

http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html go there, look down the page a little, go through everything. after you've gone through everything you'll probably have to download something. download and install it. that should update your card completely.

I was getting this exact same error with my Radeon 9600XT. I couldn't play ANY game, so I ran DirectX Diagnostics per instructions from the WoW forum where a guy had the same problem as me. I noticed that when I tested DirectDraw the test was fine, but when I tested Direct3D, it failed all three tests. Long story short, someone posted that the newest Catalyst drivers were causing alot of game to not run, so I uninstalled driver 7.10, and went back two versions to 7.8...and now all games load and play fine.
