At first you will be able to play against the Borg with both Federation (Deep Space Nine Style) and Dominion. As developement goes on, iit is very likely that a "First Contact/Voyager Style" Federation Deck will be added, featuring the Enterprise-E, Voyager, Captains Picard and Janeway as well as Seven of Nine.
This month there may be a Beta-Release of the Borg Deck.

so the idea is to have one game 'Federation vs. Dominion' and one game 'Federation vs. Borg' ?

Well, tht's yet to decide. As you have allready seen on the splash screen, the Booster will be late and so will the Borg Deck.
Test Plays with the new Cards have shown, that the Borg are to weak (!) to beat the Federation/Dominion.

What about Borg vs Kazon?
Okay, we don't know much about the Kazon, but since they live in the same Quardrent as the Borg, i bet that they have fought many times.
I for example know a few Kazon ships:
Kazon Maurader
Kazon Battleship
Kazon Battlecruiser
And Kazon Starbases:
Kazon Warstation
Kazon Starbase
And i know more... but i'm to lazy to post those, lol

I don't think the Kazon would have a chance against the borg... Sure they have big ships and a lot more firepower than Voyager but the Borg would easyly adapt and blow them out of the sky.
The Krenim or the Devor would be better Candidates imho.

You both possibly know, that the number of Krenim ship classes come not even close to what would be needed in order to create a playable Deck... Maybe some day there will be a "gathered" Deck representing the other species of the Delta-Quadrant.

I know. At best there where 2 different ship classes per Δ-Quadrant race visible in the show. That's in general a bit of a problem with Star Trek.
From all the other races the Klingon i think have the highest number of shipclasses, but not many of them are in service concurrently.
The Borg probably are the best species in that concern with having Cubes, Tactical Cubes, Spheres and Diamonds.
What do the Romulans have? Warbirds and Science Ships. After the end of DS9 they seem to have rebuilt thier fleet to the 'Valdore' model seen in ST X: Nemesis. One might say that the 'D'deridex' class is still in service and that if they also build Scimitar Ships they would get a total of 5 classes including the scout and science ships which are nearly identical.
I don't remember having seen any cardassian ships beside the galor class.
The Ferengi and Species 8472 seem to use a single hull design for everything too.

We made a bit of a compromise: The Klingon and Klingon Ships from DS9 were included into the "Alliance"-Deck so that we would not have to include "Non-DS9"-Ships and Characters into the 1.0-Version of the Game. So we have the Option to create a "TNG"/"Voyager"-Related "Starfleet"-Deck that will be more specific about fighting the Borg. On the other Hand, Klingon and Romulan Ships are not yet fully explored but could be an alternative future Enemy for the "Starfleet"-Deck.
I have been told, that a new Booster or Deck would be welcomed, and I promise a release is going to happen sometime this Winter, but I don't know when exactly. The Borg-Deck created a lot of headache among the Testers, so it will take a while...
