Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)
This is an idea which will also be included in that upcoming ladder/league that many of us are looking forward to, and that I've been working on for AGES now.

This idea/balance and whatnot/example was given to me via AIM.

    Check it out:

    Rankings - Save/Load

My suggestion for SL is a saving/loading system in which it saves:
    1) Total Unit Kills
    2) Total Razings
    3) Total Hero Kills
    4) Total Assists
    5) Total Deaths
    6) Total Silvers/Whatevers/Jades

To prevent people from just adding whatever games they want,
they have 3 minutes at begining of game to load their code,
if they don't load within the 3 minutes, loading will be turned off.

To save, they have to stay a FULL GAME: making less leavers as a benefit.
And when they are viewing the end game score board,
there will be another score board for peoples' total stats,
that is if other people or themselves wish to see it.
When they save, the appropriate scores will be added to their total score,
and then given the code in which they can use in their next game.

Only problem with this is we will get the dipshits who host pub stompings for hero kills/assists and the dipshits who host private games for unit kills/razings.

I'll find a way to include an "Anti-Cheat", but help include suggestions for Slaughtz and I to work with.

The only reason i think this would be a bad idea is because the team work amount would overly decrease.People would complain more about people kill stealing and building stealing and such. Also this would steer the game towards dota direction as people are gona care alot more bout killing creeps then they currently do.Perhaps if this just kept records for people themselfs and such and not to brag to anyone, although maybe that would be a bit pointless.

Eather way, thats the only reason i dont like the idea.

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    Menthol.Love - 06.05.2007, 02:27

Incorrect. That's only if you have bad friends, a good friend wouldn't care about their score, but more so, about helping you get your score up as well.

    ==edit==

    He added this:

[20:25] Slaughtz7: i'm really thinking, to prevent alot of fucking bullshit like hacking a score, suddenly seeing a guy with a score of 99999 across the whole board; you should only make this map available for tournaments, or to accept the scores to have proof via screenshots, even those can be rigged, but it's much more believable... reall complicates things though, maybe it's best it not even be added
[20:33] Slaughtz7: it's not even about score for me, going behind your post on forums; it's about winning, if you win, you get a good score; in most cases anyways, pretty simple logic
[20:35] Slaughtz7: also i was thinking about adding "pooled gold" in there
    [20:35] Slaughtz7: to be saved

    wizard.dark - 06.05.2007, 04:29

Yes thats maybe true but i wouldnt play just with my friends.Id join pubs and maybe even host games just to get them full. All im saying is through all the sl world wev seen the only people who TRULY didnt care bout kills and stuff were konl point blank. You kno damn well that TVoS would always fight over whos better and the amount of kills/deaths u got would always play a big factor in that.

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    Menthol.Love - 06.05.2007, 06:29

    That's completely off-topic. And untrue.

Please stay on topic on this idea, please. Take your spam elsewhere (not a flame.)

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    BD - 06.05.2007, 10:56

the overall feel and charm of sl is suposed to b team oriented were people work TOGETHER towards a common goal(a kill, siegeing ;D, and ultimately victory) adding in saveable scores dosnt seem to be going in the direction in the general feel of the game. Also i see no reason to realy add this besides catering to those peeps who love showing how theyve had a total 2000 player kills or sumtin like that it just doesnt seem right for sl because its already hard enuf to convince peeps this isnt dota, or a game thats item based, now we gotta convince em to not kill and get there record higher because its beter for the team. I believe ull end up with a much more competetive and less team oriented audience if this is followed.

    jus my 2 cents

    Menthol.Love - 06.05.2007, 11:02

Thing is, I'm making the league and this WILL be put into the league once I set it all up.

However, it's not just going to be "Who has the most hero kills". Everything will be set on a total, overall, rank. A balance, meaning, that you don't look godly for having a ton of hero kills, you could have 50000 hero kills, and 1 assist, and not be ranked. It's going to be based very much so on working together, and a balance. NOT just who has the most kills. This is SL, not DoTA. It's league will be like that as well.

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    Attin - 06.05.2007, 14:49

    I dont like this idea...

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    wizard.dark - 06.05.2007, 16:00

So you'r saying if i go a game with a bunch of kills and no assists, its not gona count for anything. But if i go a game with half the kills and half the assists it is?well that just doesnt make sence, yeah once again good idea, bad for SL

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    Menthol.Love - 06.05.2007, 20:46

No, wiz, Once again GREAT idea, good for SL. You're not listening when I speak. You're not going to be ranked on kills ALONE. Actually, an assist will be ranked higher than a kill. (Most likely). It will be balanced to the point that people do not kill steal one another, you're rejecting it simply because you're stubborn and have a grudge against me. Please refrain from posting on here if you're not going to be giving it an entire chance, without holding barr through a grudge.

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    wizard.dark - 06.05.2007, 21:20

First of all im not being stubborn and even though i do have grudge on you in the start you said it wasnt even ur idea so im talking to the person who came up with it.Once again if assists matter more then kills itl totaly mess the game up.

If assists metterd as much as kills then that would be balanced and give u a chance to be at top even if u dont have any kills.

I don't see any reason to add this kind of ranking system. The max you could add is a system that counts your total ranks. This gives chance to brag, but you really need to be skilled in order to get alot of Jades. For example:

    Forbidden:
    Silver - 5
    Gold - 4
    Jade - 4

M.L you might want to accept negative critique. Wizard has good points and even if he has a grudge against you, you should accept his comments. You know very well what happened between nooK and KoNL because in nooK's opinion nothing pleased KoNL.

You're a bit idealistic M.L. People aren't as considerate as you believe. The fact is most of them only care for themselves. They wouldn't help anyone else to get high ranks because they think no one else would help them.

Well put. Not that many people are actualy as nice as you might think.

But to reinforce the statement maybe you should go see Skirns post on Konl forums,i think it has a very good explanation for why this would be bad.

Again, I say this. The way it will work is it won't be about kills at all, it will be about how well you've worked with one another. How you've worked by yourself, under certain situations, and how you've worked as a team, as a whole. Gameplay - WILL - NOT - CHANGE - ONE -SINGLE - BIT - BECAUSE - OF - THIS. People will not attempt to KS from one another, and if they do, it won't look good for their score at all. Winning/losing won't matter either, it'll be based purely on how WELL you played. How WELL you worked with a team. I'm starting to wonder if people read a whole post before replying...

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    A[Y]S-Cry-Ed - 08.05.2007, 06:40

knot i think u should re-read everyones GOOD points about how this will change the way ppl play the game. YOU might play the same way but OTHERS will completely abandom teamwork because they don't want others to steal their kills or they will become ksers JUST so they can get kills or etc.

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    Forbidden - 08.05.2007, 13:46

You don't seem to understand our points either.
    You say:

"It wouldn't be about kills at all, but how well you work together"

    We say:
"That's the whole point. PEOPLE DON'T WORK TOGETHER AS MUCH AS YOU THINK"

All first timers will just play it and try to rank high by doing what they do in all other AoS maps - kills as many as possible by themselves. When they rank lower than a person who has less kills than they do they go "Omfg wtf hax I had more kills! This map sucks ggbye I go play DotA!" They are SELFISH. Figure out what the word means and you will see why this system won't fit. And it will definitely change gameplay. People will try to rank high and act more selfishly then. If helping others gives them a high rank then they only help others for THEIR OWN RANKS SAKE. They don't help them because of teamworks sake. Reality check time M.L.

PS. Know this M.L or whatever KnoT you are: Even if KoNL is not present here anymore to oppose you, this forum will not become under your control. We will see to it personally that the map stays as "NooK's Samurai Legends", not as "KnoT tells NooK how it should be Samurai Legends"

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    Menthol.Love - 08.05.2007, 20:27

What is this... Everyone seems to think nooK is my bitch or something? Is this some sort of rumor that wiz spread or someone spread? Because he's not. ..

That confuses the shit out of me.

Anyway. Let's get to this? The score system will be based on every aspect, the players who play the best with one another, over all, with a ton of teamwork and skill, will be highest ranked. Those who don't like that can HAVE THEIR DOTA! We don't want them here anyway. This is Samurai Legends. This is a teamwork based game, and those who are just greedy little selfish DoTA huggers... they can gtfo.

The gameplay, as I've said, will be 100% based on teamwork, and OVERALL. Not based on kills. And also, with any luck, I could get nooK to make a special introduction at the start of the game/loading screen saying so. That way people won't even try to KS one another. Before shooting an idea down, look at alternatives that can be done to prevent the negitive.

I havta agree w/ forb and s-cry-ed on this one....it would either stop teamwork or just be a well weird ass board which would in the long run destroy teamwork... meh, but w/e.

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    Andriejj - 09.05.2007, 18:57

There will always be some people who will try to use such things to their advantage, i.e. host games with his friends and kill them 500 times.

But I think this is marginal. And you could make something like "kill weight"- kills against total noobs who die constantly count worse than kills of better players (i.e. if someone has 0 kills and 5 deaths it counts less than if you kill someone with 3 kills and 2 deaths).

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    Omerta - 09.05.2007, 20:42

Don't tell me you're going to be spreading 3rd version of SL. Have you even asked nooK's opinion about this?

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    Menthol.Love - 09.05.2007, 21:32

When did I say I was spreading another SL? I was unaware I said that..

Anyway, No, I won't be. However, I have a tournament which nooK is aware of, and I've been working on for quite some time. A sort of league. That's what I'm working on, and that's what I'll be releasing.

Lucky us, Andreijj, that it'll only count on League games. That 100% prevents that.

Naw, it won't destroy teamwork. People REALLY need to start reading all the posts before doing a reply. Instead, it will ENFORCE teamwork.

This is called cooperation Omerta, the community helps the mapmaker :)
Not only posts ideas and expects nooK to make them.

Menthol seems to be the only nooK helper(unless the others are doing it in secret  ).

I know nothing about mapmaking or 3d modelling so I can't really help, Menthol seems to know something about the wc3 editior.

Check out how AoM forum works- Vile, the maker(he's an assole, but his map is great) has 2 official artists which make icons, models, skins...

I do know quite a bit about the wc3editor.

And no, I'm not the only helper of nooK. Anyone here who has remained loyal to the real map, not the hacked version (SLL) is a great help to nooK, and the community.

nooK get's help everywhere, from many people, including yourself.

I meaned a more serious help, connected with making something in the editor.

Unfortunately, I have no skills connected with this, I can make some items system, landscape, but nothing connected with serious triggers(and JASS).

knot i take offence to your last statement about sll however let me get back on topic... if u listen to what some of us talk about its not even about it realy being a good idea or bad idea its that is this NEEDED for sl when you could be using ur time developing beter material for sl? I realy doubt that ull get a lot of people rushing to get the newest sl because theres a save load ranking system in it. I stand by the point that this is not needed in sl and may (if implemented rong) cause a good bit of bad side effects but thats just me

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    Skirn - 11.05.2007, 20:10

    You're offended?

    I'm not, odd.

Anyhow, I'm more here because I noticed Wizard.Dark posted my name and expected you to do extra work to find my viewpoint. But instead of actually forcing people to look, I'm just going to copy and paste my viewpoint here.

Public stats with save/load features: No. People will either play SL to get their stats up to look more intimidating like they do with some other games, or those who actually play it will scare all the newbies away when they type in their code.

Like in a few EotA games I've been in ... I seriously saw entire teams leave because someone on my team (Or the enemy in one case) loaded someone with 9k+ EXP. Psychological warefare shouldn't happen until the spells start flying.

And if the stats are private: What's the point? "Oh! Hey! I've killed 90423 heroes" Or "I've only lost three games" ... It should not be a big enough deal to actually need to be recorded, and might actually be more annoying then anything else. (Nothing is worse then a bragger who's convinced because his stats are good, he's good.)

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    BD - 12.05.2007, 00:30

skirn the reason im offended is because unlike you i support both sl and sll. Saying that im not a supporter of nook because i play and support sll is providing a negative image of me to the maker of this map and i realy dont like that. Sorry for being off topic i been doin that a bit lately :D

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    Menthol.Love - 12.05.2007, 00:47

First, I don't see how you can support nooK when you play the -hacked- version of his map. That's far from supporting him, but whatever.

The sls will not be any different from the score board at the end. Because your code won't show anything, as a matter of fact, it'll show what you got that game, and record it. That's about it.

SL - does - need this. Because what made DoTA hit the big (and hitting the big would keep sl from dying) was the fact it had a tourny. Now, what if we introduced a map that is BETTER than dota, but... less rigged and more balanced? It would completely save our custom games list from this horror that is dota, and move SL up to one of the top lists. That means.... WE DON'T HAVE TO TRY HARD FOR A GAME OF SL!

And I know we all want that.

So SL doesn't need that eh? From the looks of it... It does.

    @Skirn:
Why are you even HERE. KoNL said they wouldn't be posting here anymore, and if you're not posting, then why are you... posting? More so... If you're not posting, you have no reason to read the forums. It's sad that KoNL stalks nooK so much and have so much pride that they have to actually make an entire thread based on talking about and gossiping about what goes on here at the official (non-hacked version) forums.

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    BD - 12.05.2007, 08:28

i say because i support both the maps then i am supporting both nook and konl, you say that because i support konl who is nooks rival and has made a diff vers of sl from original design then i dont support sl. Lets jus put the vendetas a side for a sec and look at this... there are already not a whole lot of people who host these games, i try to correct that by hosting games and (mayb) atracting hosters who like this game and if they like it enough they host it to give another a chance, however despite this im labled as not being a supporter because i host SLL for my friends (because they prefer it). Well i guess then u can call me sum1 who dosnt support sl i just realy hope ur vision of a nonsupporter and nooks differ.

Edit: also it would seem that ur banking on sl becoming popular from a ranking system, thats seriously VERY VERY idealistic, if this was to happen id be happy but be realistic man its not, a save/load rank system will just be viewed by the public as a lil trinket added to this aos to set it a lil higher then the others also some could think of it as a copy off of hvos(tho ur system is rank only) and also u said that this would only be for tourneys, if sum one is motivated enuf to join the tourney it means they already like the map i doubt that ur gonna get this huge explosion of sls for making a change that is ultimately NOT AFFECTING GAMEPLAY. However ive been rong about things before so i believe ill just sit bak and watch wat happens.

It really isn't that simple to overthrow DotA...You say this ranking/tourney system will do the trick? Oh for fucks sake stop lying to yourself. There's tons of maps with ranking/tourney systems and they haven't beaten DotA in popularity. Gee, i wonder why...I acknowledge Sgt.Slaughtz's idea, but this isn't the answer.

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    Reyobhtes - 12.05.2007, 10:11

DotA didn't become popular because it had a torny, it had a torny because it was popular. Also what does the save/load/code have to do with a torny? Plus I doubt that SL will ever reach true torny status. Or at least no time in the near future.

I don't see what a rank system has anything to do w/ DotA since they don't have a save/load system...also DotA became popular via clan support which put it up for pro gaming and tornies and what not...thus it's CAL-O and CAL-I levels....

The only tornies I ever see SL being, are forum discussed or Bnet discussed tornies between ppl who at least sorta know each other.

And so long as ppl can play DotA for money and actual pro gamming, and there are ppl who wish they were that kewl, or like to belive they're good, DotA will always be on the custom list.

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    Andriejj - 12.05.2007, 11:26

DotA will always be very popular, unless some disaster happens.

But there are still some maps which broke through-
look at Castle Fight. Getting a full house of players WITH this map is very easy and fast.

Age of Myths becomes more and more popular, though I hate it for the lags, slowing down and splits. But it's hard to make 2 good teams here.

EotA:T is popular, though the mentioned save/load system ruined it a bit(from what I've heard- on Azeroth, I haven't encountered it on Northrend).

Why other AoS maps rarely ever become popular? One reason is because they are AoS-type maps. DotA fans rarely ever stop playing DotA because of another AoS.

A map has to be innovative and very well made to break through- like Castle Fight.

It can be also very idiotic, stupid and weak- Rabbits V.S. Sheeps is quite popular too.

So what's the conclusion? If SL is ever going to become popular, it should introduce something new. EotA:T has 3 maps in one, amazingly original and good creep pathing and many unique features.

HoSK is the only "customize your hero" map I like, so the customisation is well made there. Also the numerous modes make it very good. And they made one mode for league matches- league mode, the game ends after 50 minutes(if it wasn't finished faster) and the points are counted who wins. Very simple and very good for tournaments, leagues, etc.

AoM has the best spells and graphics.
AotZ is good at this too, it's advantage over AoM are: no lags, lower file size, faster loading and working, no splits, more original pathing.

    =====================================================================================================

Innovations in SL can be: more original items system, new pathing and maybe something else(some samurai-style music :?: ), I can't think of anything else now.

I always thought what SL needed is more modes, but ofcaurse I wouldn't even mention it thinking people would laugh and point,or it would errapt into a huge argument like most things on this forums do.

Never did I say that SL would just overthrow DoTA. Dota isn't goign anywhere (Actually, it is, but that's between Xantan and Icefrog, and those of us who've spoken to Xantan about it) and we're going to have to put up with that.

HOWEVER, we can make SL more popular. I love those who have yet to make an argument toward this topic, instead, they're just arguing.... Without a method of mentioning their reasoning.

As for this topic, it's really not up for discussion seeing as I'm almost finished and the SLS/Tourny program will be up and running soon.

As for BD, unfortunatly I couldn't understand most of what you said... perhaps re-read that and edit it without so many mistakes. Not flaming, I just couldn't understand most of it.

The tourny program is ALMOST finished, expect it within the month.

Ok...quick question....who will you be getting to take part in said torny?.....A game gets a torny because it's popular, it doesn't get popular becasue of a torny.

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    Menthol.Love - 13.05.2007, 04:36

Um... anyone who want's to participate. It's not just a one time tourny thing, it's a non-stop league. Once a week, sometimes once every other week, there will be matches set up for people to test their skills.

When the shit did I say that we would magicly overthrow dota and that this tourny would make the game very popular?

Please, and I'm begging you, please, read a whole post before replying.

I'm not saying over throw DotA popularity, also before you get a leasge going you will need a much larger fan base then I'm currently observing. And I don't mean just ppl who join the game on B.net, I mean people who know what they're doing, get involved, or at least try to.

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    Menthol.Love - 13.05.2007, 10:33

We had a large fanbase... Till some got greedy, others got stubborn, and others were just too stricken with pride to admit they were wrong. Hence... a hacked version being released. This is greatly hurting the fanbase of SL, and causing a global confusion. We have to sit there and explain "SLL is a hacked version, do not play it" to everyone, while they sit there and defend theirs. It's killing SL, honestly.

knot my off topic responses can be sumed up quite easily and im suprised that a man of your intelegence didnt get it so quickly, im offended by you saying that people cant support sl because they play sll.
However my on topic response is a good bit easier and has been repeatidely said threw out this post... THERE IS NO REASON TO ADD THIS FEATURE TO SL AT ALL! youve ignored good arguments on why not to add this to sl and to counter most of the time youve been basicaly evasive. this isnt a flame on you knot im just telling you what i believe. I hope this is a little bit more clarified for you as ive left out most of the slang i use in normal forum posts. ;)

I actually enjoy SLL o.O the only thing I see wrong with it is i nthe new version, DS occationally doesn'tt work, and some of the omny skills are a lil flashy.

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    Menthol.Love - 17.05.2007, 21:35

SLL is terrible, no matter if it was the most balanced map in the world, no matter if it had over one million fully balanced heros, it's still a stolen idea, it's still hacked, and it's still killing the SL community that they claim they made it for. They should cancel the project simply because they started it why? For the greater good of the SL community? Well the community is dying because of that map. Cut it out, go back to working for one map, and back to that common goal of making a balanced AoS. Sure KoNL's ideas for the map that they've implemented into SLL for the most part are pretty terrible, but they have a few ideas that were ok. I can't think of them atm, but I'm sure I can find one that was a good idea eventually.

BD, I'm not listening because this isn't an argument, it's already in progress. And as I was saying... I still can't understand most of what you type. It's not the slang, it's the poor spelling and grammar.

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    Reyobhtes - 17.05.2007, 22:07

Since when was balencing a bad idea =P. anyway, don't turn a thread about a scoreboard and your announcing a tornament or what ever into something bashing SLL or anyone o.O or even the differences between SL and SL:L as far as I'm concered they are two different maps at this point. So if we are no longer talking about the scoreboard or your torny or torny adition or what ever, maybe we should stop posting here. Also menthol, if you don't have anyone specific planned from your torny I'll enjoy being in it probably.

also i would like to say that in the last post i made i made care to keep almost all spelling errors out(aside from punctuation and such like youve) the only glaring spelling mistakes i can realy see (and this is a maybe) is intelegence, and repeatedly. if punctuation is the thing u realy see as the "brick wall" keeping you from reading and understanding my posts then ill try to rectify that for u to mkay ;)

---sry if this is off topic jus responding to an earlier post(yes knot i kno i spelled jus, wrong if you want to be nitpicky and if you cant understand this edit :) )

Quote: BD, I'm not listening because this isn't an argument, it's already in progress.

Then why the fuck are you posting this in the ideas section for people to state their opinions about? If you don't give a fuck what we think about this tournaments uselesness, then why didn't you just simply post this in the General section with the title "SL Tournament system" or whatever, saying "I'm gonna make a tournament and I don't give a flying fuck what you think." ?

BD's spelling is fine. If you can't understand what he's saying then you are obviously the reason of this problem, since no one else has any trouble understanding him.

Was nooK even aware that you were making this tournament BEFORE you started making it? If he wasn't then you are no different from KoNL whether or not this is the same thing as hacking his map.

Re: Idea from sgt.slaughtz (No forum acc, so I'm posting)

    Menthol.Love - 18.05.2007, 11:51

Oh yeah nooK knows, I told him about it ages ago when I first started the program (before TVoS was even started).

And because the scoreboard wasn't originally put in, it was just an idea at that point (when I posted this.) However, do to the remarkable feedback I've gotten from more openminded areas (which higly overpowered the three or so people here who were against it) I've decided to include it. If nooK wants he can have all versions include this sls, otherwise, only tourny games will.

For the record, I AM LOOKING FOR REFS to referee SL tournys, they will be set as obs and will be able to veiw all things without fog and whatnot. Just to make sure no one is cheating during the tourny.

Just thought I'd throw that in there, since it's technically on topic.

Forbidden, please stop trying to find things to throw at me untill you've got something a bit better, thanks.

Name on Azeroth? The tourny will be on azeroth since that's the most populated one. And because it won't be another map, it'll be the same o' SL we love... nothing changed... just a SLS put in and ... thats about it.
