Hi all, Triple asked me if I would post some information about the Upgrade Project here.
The Upgrade Project aims to get better graphics into A2 in a manner than can be used online. Two and a half years ago I was idly toying around with my A2 installation looking at the files inside it when I stumbled across the graphics folder and had a brainwave. A quick photoshop edit had me in the first available game to test a color changed welding beam.
And it worked, forming the basis of the Upgrade Project. The first few versions were passed around by email and achieved at most few dozen users. Last year on the second anniversary version 1.2.1 had six thousand and seventy five downloads in total, making it one of the larger fan created projects created and certainly one of the more popular.
Unlike mods, the Upgrade Project can be used in online multiplayer games against people that do not have it installed and are still running a stock installation of version 1.1. It has no negative effect on the game at all, and it does not change the stats of ships to make them stronger etc.
I am a strong believer of the saying that a picture speaks a thousand words, so I think a few screenshots are in order.
One suggestion I have heard repeatedly over the years is that you couldn't tell the difference from strategic mode as promotional pictures tend to be close in shots.
Do you notice a difference?
Personally, I believe that version 1.3.1 is currently the best option for online gamers. You can download version 1.3.1 from our website (a2upgrades.net) from the link below:-

just wondering ive installed the upgrade for some time now the only new thing that i see is the shields fluxuating after a fight and i have not seen the earth like planet in your screen shot maybee something wrong or i dont have the right 1 installed plz tell me :evil: :twisted:

ok i understand i need to unzip it in programfiles activision startrekarmada11/textures/rgb somthing like that right anyway im dl the 1.4 version the site says its fairly new dont know if many have tried it i will let u know soon with some screen shots
