The Rasmus's American publicist, Emmy Burns, was interviewed in the Sunday Magazine, Australia. She mentions the guys a few times. That Autor don't know how to scan it in and attach it, so she typed the parts where they're mentioned.
SM: What are you doing in the Big Apple?
E:I'm a publicist for DRT Entertainment, a New York-based music record company representing heavy-metal and hard-rock bands. I look after The Rasmus, a band of four young guys from Finland. They had a number one hit in Australia, 'In the Shadows', but they're not as popular in the States. That's where i come in. I look after all the bands' US publicity; my job is to get them out in the public eye. My job also involves a lot of schmoozing and New York is perfect for that. There are always plenty of parties, dinners and shows to attend.
SM: Favourite Moment So Far?
E: The Rasmus and I were in Detroit for a gig one night and it happened to be my birthday. I walked into my hotel room and the entire dining table was covered in bottles of alcohol and a huge chocolate birthday cake was sitting the middle of it all. The Rasmus whipped out their guitars and sang 'In My Life' by The Beatles. It was a special moment. A lot of the time i feel taken for granted, me sitting in my office trying to get the band opportunities while they're touring, hanging out with groupies and drinking themselves into a coma. But that moment made all the crappy stuff worthwhile.
SM: Are groupies an occupational hazard?
E: Yes, unfourtunatly. The Rasmus have a lot of female fans that bombard them after a show. It's my job to make sure they're not overwhelmed. i'm their surrogate mother. The last time they were in New York, i was at the chemist buying cough medicine for them because they were sick. you have to love doing this kind of job, because you certainly aren't doing it for the money-or the thanks.
The rest of the interview was about Emmy's experience as an Aussie expat in New York.
