it looks like the mustang part I found; not exactly the same model but the same function. Maybe same manufacturer? I don't know if this one produced parts for the P51.
We can imagine this part was in the motor -area?

If it is anything like the oil traps on vehicle engines currently in use it would be from the upper part of the crank case breather which allows pressure changes between the lower (crank shaft and below the piston) and upper areas (cylinder head and rocker gear) of the engine to be evened out without oil being forced by the 'slapping effect' of the pistons from one end of the engine to the other.
The oil caught in the trap is usually returned to the sump / oil tank, that is why there is a third smaller outlet.

Do you think that in a crash in trees, this part could have been arrached before the P51 touched the ground, according with its position in the plane?
It could be important for understanding the scenario of the crash.

Plessey isn't on the Manual's list (Alphabetical list of vendors to the P-51D and K) but Pesco is !

They were on top of merlins (back side), also on bristols.
