    Dramatic letter to Mr. Allan
    Baltimore April 12th 1833

It has now been more than two years since you
have assisted me and more than three years since you have
spoken to me. I feel little hope that you will pay
any regard to this letter, but still I cannot refrain
from making one more attempt to interest you in
my behalf. If you will only consider in what a
situation I am placed you will surely pity me-
without friends, without any means, consequently
of obtaining employment, I am perishing-absolutely
perishing for want of aid. And yet I am not
    idle-nor addicted to any vice-nor have I
committed any offence against society which would
render me deserving of so hard a fate. For
God's sake pity me, and save me from destruction.

    This is really dramatic.
Strong he was to still have the ability to ask for someone`s aid.
Most of people never do this whatever it takes!

    Tragic
His ability to humble himself to the point of asking someone who clearly had long left him really gives us a better sense of the man poe was he was a fantastic writer and yet he had hardly any pride in himself it seems.

It seems as he didn´t have much pride, yes.
And still there is a vast radiant aura around him that shows everyone he is a man who deserves all honour - all love - all admiration - all attention.

I agree, it's hard to believe that such a talented person had to live through more tragedy than happiness...

Yes. Ok, we all know he was not really loved by destiny, but I mean...maybe it was as Baudelaire said; "The Coincidence was his big enemy"...
