This poem stunts me a little, because i can't quite discover as to whether this poem is a prayer or a confession. It is it a prayer is he praying for something or mearly to as forgiveness, this puzzles me and any insight on this matter would be welcome.

For me it sounds a little like the last prayer before dead.
It contains a kind of relief deep in the soul and a grateful element that the prayer was heard.
But it´s as well a begging for a better future - may it be the stillnes in the grave.
